I'm all for it when a band progresses and head into a slightly different direction, but this song and many others off their first album are what I crave. It's so much better than their newer stuff in my opinion.
I agree. I fell in love with the band by listening to their song Riot Van, which my parents would play around the house all the time. I do like their newer stuff, but I particularly like to listen to their older stuff too as it's practically the music I grew up listening too.
Say what you really mean mate-the new stuff is awful. I'm glad it's not only me who thinks it.I challenge anyone to take the Pepsi challenge on any of their music pre/post 2009 and say they prefer the new stuff. Why do bands always feel they have to experiment with new stuff when they have a winning formula? If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
TheVimtoMoustache Because they don't have a winning formula. They showed us they can rock like the best. Now they are conquering the mainstream market. Now they are winning. They are slowly making their way into history, by sliding inside that space where the songs everybody knows are. This is not selling out. This is using your skills to reach for the stars. I enjoy this sideswipe in genres they do, starting from garage-punk to HipHop RnB-ish sounds. If there is one thing the Arctic Monkeys are as musicians is flexible. They claim to rock n' roll. I claim they fuse many things with rock n'roll, and that purists don't like...
I used to watch this video 12 years ago, and now in 2022 came back to find it, it was more difficult to find it than that time, I like this video cause makes me feel nostalgia to that time when I used to listen Arctic Monkeys in High School, I wish it could be the official video
Louise C Yes they are! They're all over just about everything. AM isn't some underground indie unknown band, they get a lot of media attention. Don't talk out your ass.
i think these guys are brilliant, each song in this album has a great blend of styles its so refreshing and it pulls u in. the guitar riffs are so simple yet so slick that u dont get bored of em or irritated. and i love how he writes. luv this fucking band
This song is ferkin' perfect - the lyrics, Lord, THE LYRICS! And how Alex delivers them - with a passion that makes you fancy him more than he did the bimbo from "Still Take You Home".
Best song ever written IMO. I'll never forget the first time I heard this song 10 years ago. It amazes me how no one really knows about this song. It's their best by far. This and "Perhaps Vampires is a Bit Strong But..."
Amazing band. We're an indie band from Yorkshire trying to get our music heard, we're not claiming to be as good as Arctics but have a listen anyway and tell us what you think. Cheers
uploaded March 2006. it is probably one of the first videos ever on UA-cam. I may remember seeing this on TV... I remember I drew a diagram of a handheld littleTV myself in 1999 and then 7 years later it was actually invented 📺
"It's still in your brain, you've got something to proof to all the smerkey faces and the boys in black. Why can't it be pleasent, why can't we have a laugh?" Best lyrics ever
I swear, I've listened to these guys since I was a little kid. Throughout all their albums, I still think this one's the best, all of the songs, definately this one, are downright amazing. You're doin great guys keep it up!!! :D
Heard this when I was like 9 or 10 and now 6 years later it just came to me to look this up...i loved this song when i was young...just never knew the name of it.... This Towns a different today!
+Isaac “Psykopaintre” Ðavid How to get 100+ likes: Comment about others commenting that "the old music of the band is better than the new music of the band and say it's your opinion" Also i agree i like their old music more than their new albums
actually my very favorite song of the band, (good to train to shuffle if you don't like techno) and the video just fits great, I will never understand why so many people don't even try to know the old songs of the Arctic Monkeys :)
another really great song by them is mardy bum, i feel like its so chill and makes you have good hope for the future, and it also makes me feel like its "farewell" song.
This is their 8th highest viewed song on youtube yet it's only a b-side to their first single. It's very strange how popular it is but I like that it is. Seen them live last night, absolutely fantastic!
@thecitizenme Actually Muse were second to Franz Ferdinand who were the first British band to get a high charted album in the American charts since The Beatles.
"last night what we talked about it made so much sense, now that the Haze has ascended it doen't make no sense anymore" clearly about smoking weed, talking absolute shite that seems really deep and meaningful, and then when 'sobering' up realising it was all utter shite:L. just realised this like a few days ago. brilliant lyrics.
this is the kind of song that nobody knows but is the best by the band
Everybody knows it, it's like the center of their first album.
The first Album is perfect
guigakakashi So is AM too.
FinSituation IF you like mainstream tumblr shit maybe.
Yasmin Gill Who are you to judge whats tumblr shit? You stupid hipster wannabe cool kid. Shut the fuck up, hipsters like you are the cancer of today.

Emma Courtney yep. Prefer the messier "Leave before the lights come on" than the new "R U mine" or "Arabella"
Say what you really mean mate-the new stuff is awful.
I'm glad it's not only me who thinks it.I challenge anyone to take the Pepsi challenge on any of their music pre/post 2009 and say they prefer the new stuff.

Gongasoso Nah...the new stuff is crap. I practically fell asleep listening to one.
I used to watch this video 12 years ago, and now in 2022 came back to find it, it was more difficult to find it than that time, I like this video cause makes me feel nostalgia to that time when I used to listen Arctic Monkeys in High School, I wish it could be the official video
I know. So great
Definitely one of their best songs! Hidden gem that blows my ears off!
why does everyone hate suck it and see here :((
i don't think I've ever heard an arctic monkeys song i don't like
I agree!! lol
+MrClean Brick By Brick?
+MrClean SIAS is their second best album
I've not heard a song by them that I don't like, but there are definitely ones that are far less superior than others
Except "I predict that you look good in a riot"
What I loved about them is the fact they are a very true representation of Britain :')
Point still stands 6 years later
This video CANNOT ever be deleted
10 years later and we're still listening
I D'Souza 12 years 🙌🙌🙌
this is the first video i saw in youtube with this account
you chose right ! :)
man was one of my first videos ever too :D
Why do people still listen to the crap on the radio when we have songs like this?
+Niklaus cause they don't know about these songs..probably....
+Niklaus conformism perhaps
Because it isn't "mainstream" and "fancy".
Shit, it's maybe not fancy but it's soooooo much better than these songs on the radio.
+Bori Kovács I suggest listening to Neutral Milk Hotel
+Bori Kovács this is mainstream.. everything is...
for some reason i love when he says totalitarian in the intro xD
I love this song so much, the bassline is so catchy
underrated
how? one of the most popular bands in the uk with 5 number one albums? people love these guys!
I'm talking about this song
hahahaha you fucking poser
Louise C Yes they are! They're all over just about everything. AM isn't some underground indie unknown band, they get a lot of media attention. Don't talk out your ass.
I see this comment on every single song of them, seriously
just love the way they at start just talk like theres no rythm and then just go directly into it without anybody knows :P
144p.....we meet again =_=
I like the 144p video, it looks amazing but not the sound quality.
i think these guys are brilliant, each song in this album has a great blend of styles its so refreshing and it pulls u in. the guitar riffs are so simple yet so slick that u dont get bored of em or irritated. and i love how he writes. luv this fucking band
what do you think of their newer work
This song doesn't get enough attention
This song is ferkin' perfect - the lyrics, Lord, THE LYRICS! And how Alex delivers them - with a passion that makes you fancy him more than he did the bimbo from "Still Take You Home".
the end to this song is fucking amazing
+Liam Donoghue all of it is
@inmatadeusermane Ritz = A pretty famous and rich hotel in London, Rubble = Trash, waste.
So from being rich to being poor (;
Last night what we talked about it made so much sense, but now the haze has ascended and dont makeit no sense anymore...!!!......
Can never get this song loud enough
1846 still listening
possibly the best intro of all time, the whole first minute is absolute musical gold.
They never bettered this
Best song ever written IMO. I'll never forget the first time I heard this song 10 years ago. It amazes me how no one really knows about this song. It's their best by far. This and "Perhaps Vampires is a Bit Strong But..."
...bk..
Banging tune from their first and by far the best album they have done to date ..
Amazing band. We're an indie band from Yorkshire trying to get our music heard, we're not claiming to be as good as Arctics but have a listen anyway and tell us what you think. Cheers
Its good to know there are still talented artists out there.
2016 and still listening
This entire album is just fucking amazing and never gets old!
Still the best song of them
E 13 anos depois...
EXCEPTIONAL JOB, MATT WATSON. THE PEOPLE IN 2019 LOVE IT.

My Favourite Song la dvd
These Beauties Blew my Mind at Coachella!!! Super Stars!
I do like AM, but 'whatever people say I am, that's what I'm not' is in my opinion gold dust. AM is just another tumblr package tbh.
Other than suck it and see they don't have any album that's not perfect, really. Humbug in particular. Priceless piece of genius. Love em!
La amo! :*
this song is amazing amazing base lines too it really stands out anyway
God save the 144p
the lyrics, beat & everything else in this song r quality ..... ROCK ON THE BOYS!!!
This song is soo good. I'm sad they went different direction.

Matt Watson from super mega
Heard this when I was like 9 or 10 and now 6 years later it just came to me to look this up...i loved this song when i was young...just never knew the name of it....
This Towns a different today!
Since when did this change to green?
i love this song so much it's just unfathomable
who's here in 2020?
this is such an underrated song by the band itself. but at the same time I like the fact it's underrated.
How to get 100+ likes:
Say that the old music of the band is better than the new music of the band and say it's your opinion.

smarter generation is needed for this song to be popular
this is one of my favorite rock songs without a doubt. great edit
Damn their style sucks now.
+MrSir Pain No? They gucci though.
best arctics song ever - class lyrics -and even better thrashing drums and guitars
this video captures the feel of the song excellently without feeling contrived. nice work.
actually my very favorite song of the band, (good to train to shuffle if you don't like techno) and the video just fits great, I will never understand why so many people don't even try to know the old songs of the Arctic Monkeys :)
good to see a musical legend appreciating music outside of his own genre
ah man. This song is so damn catchy.
I can't help but sing to it.
this video is amazing with this song. well done seriously!
Probably my favourite song ever. Ever.
i feel so much love for this band
Soo right!
They have grown up, for better and its true, new album is also different to what we're used to but it is amazing.
this is awesome i want to hear this when im out on a saturday night the bass line is what gives this song its feel.
@Manovmilk I know, they cant be replaced. Its just that I need to fill up the memory on my mobile. And thanks for sharing, I'll look those up.

this is the ultimate party song
one of their best songs!!!! AMAZING******
all those cars are reversing into that junction, madness!!!
Everytime I hear this I smile as I shimmy and sing along.
Im in love.
This is their 8th highest viewed song on youtube yet it's only a b-side to their first single. It's very strange how popular it is but I like that it is. Seen them live last night, absolutely fantastic!
This song is one of the best!
LOVE it, so brilliant and addictive.
@Alkeddi yea, 0:01 to 0:42 its trip hop. Bassically the lyrics of a song (generally indie rock) are rapped
beginning of the song is the best! i love the guitar! diiiing ding ding ding diiiing.
I've been listening to AM so much over the past few weeks that I forgot how much I love WPSIATWIN
What a neat and tidy roll up...
love the intro, ive never listened to them much before
i totally agree with you! they separate themselves from the rest. its like Rap, the lyrics go perfectly with the beat. Awesome!
@thecitizenme Actually Muse were second to Franz Ferdinand who were the first British band to get a high charted album in the American charts since The Beatles.
I remember watching this video ten years ago.
The simplicity of taking drugs then filming causal streets of london work for some weird reason, i'm lovin' it
congrads on the video...awesome job! its sick! great song 2!
this song is amazing
This is a really good video and it fits the song really well :)
This song is really really great!!
"last night what we talked about it made so much sense,
