Your name is Hi-Fi insider . If you are legit interested in headphones , why would you buy beats over higher quality by bigger brands ( bigger in sense of widely accepted as good audio brands unlike Beats , Apple etc )
Fair evaluation, but I argue the customer base is more concerned with durability of this product than repairability. Since Apple started soldering RAM in their MacBooks, the modules do not fall out of their slots, and their slots do not break. Further, no matter how much you shake one, you won’t hear parts come loose and rattle around. That logic works even better for headphones, which you are expected to treat roughly, toss in bags, drop, step on, etc. I’d give up some repairability if they don’t break through all that. I guess I must be an Apple shill. Let me be clear: I support repair-friendly policies and, in a vacuum, repair-friendly products. If the choice is between the product lasting on its own or being repairable but needing repair more often, like it or not, many users will throw away the repairable item when it breaks and buy from another brand in hopes it lasts longer without repair.
I really never realized how hard it was to sound excited on video! I agree I sound pretty flat for some of this one, I’ll try to pep it up next time. A vocal coach might be a good idea though, I wonder if iFixit would pay for that...
I would like to see more of the inside of the charging case. My case's left side is messsed up. The pogo pins look perfectly fine (checked under a microscope, they don't appear to be depressed or offset or anything) however, if I take a mutlimeter to the pogo pins, the side that still works, the right side, reads 0 VDC. However, the left side, it reads 4.5 VDC even though the pogo pins are not depressed. I thought maybe there was a magnetic switch that triggered the discharge, but I threw a magnet on the right side and checked the voltage and it was still reading at zero. I don't really want to tear it open to find out since the right side still works. Any chance you have some insight as to what could be causing this? I doubt I can repair it, I'm an electronics troubleshooter, but I'm kinda entry level still.
Thank uuuuu ifix. U have the only video on the internet that dissassembles the box of the powerbeats. My box battery is also dead. All 3 batteries are dead. So it seems this is irrepairable. I cannot open the box without wrecking it.... 😒😒😒
Is there a wire that goes through the hook or is the hook just a piece of plastic that just helps you wear the earbuds, would the earbuds be internally damaged if you cut the earhook off
The pause button on my right earbud is lose and when I am running or doing any aggressive movements I can hear the button moving. How would I fix this?
I can tell you after almost 3 years of pure beating. These buds are officially a piece of equipment. I couldn’t put them through more of a tough test than they’ve been in the past three years dropped drowned lost found dozen times over and the only issue is the microphone on the left. One is a little bit muffled. It’s hard to use Siri, this is DeWalt quality
If you like, and can afford Apple's AirPods, some of the replacement/repair scenarios aren't horrible. Though, as is sometimes the case, there are always those "just better off buying a new one" situations. This info may or may not be accurate at the time I'm writing this, but it's my understanding that: If you buy AirPods with an iPhone, and get Apple Care + on the phone, the AirPods are also covered. If you need an out of warranty case battery replacement, it's $69 (the same price as a "lost case" replacement). AirPod battery replacement is $49 each, which yes, is a bit steep, especially if you need both replaced. On the other hand, quite a few people seem to be getting replacements at no cost, after the original warranty. It's a matter of who you talk to, and naturally, *how* you talk to them. So, the bottom line is that they aren't necessarily designed to be thrown away when they fail, but if they made them easy to fix, durability, design, and splash resistance would likely all suffer. I'm not surprised that they're essentially not repairable, but I *am* surprised that you thought there was any chance they would be. 😃
Thank you for this video, it was *VERY useful* 👌 I'm currently having an issue with my case not powering on despite it being plugged into a cable. I have dropped the case notoriously -a few- several times & by looking at the internal design of the case in your vid, I wonder if any wirings/connections may have come loose when I dropped the case
And this is why wired earbuds, and 3.5mm headphone jacks on phones, are a good idea. Wireless earphones always tend to be a nightmare to repair (with the exception of the Galaxy Buds) and often don't go back together the same was as they were disassembled. Someone should have really punished Apple for releasing the iPhone 7; that way the iPhone 8 and later models would have retained the port, and the industry wouldn't be as throwaway as it is now.
Ezugo Obuekwe yes you can use it moving around just fine - the speakeasy lightning dac amp looks like an ordinary cord. So it’s looks/feels just like a wired pair of headphones. People have been coping with that since the 1980’s.

Ezugo Obuekwe ahhh. Right. When I run, I leave everything at home, because I hate music when I’m running. I actually like to hear everything around me. I disconnect from the world when I run.
That's how powerbeats pro was murdered 😂 Thanks for the video, cause of this we could see the internals of this tiny little shenanigan. Also a point to notice, apple intentionally put smaller battery in this one's charging case as they want airpods's case to be known as lasting longer.
Apple’s own website says that AirPods last 5 hours of listening and 24 hrs by recharging it on the case while claiming Powerbeats to last 9 hours and MORE than 24 hours with the charging case 🤦♂️
Gurkirat Singh what I’m saying is that what you claim to “notice” about Apple and their intention with putting the smaller battery is easily proven wrong by something as simple as going to their main website
@@jmoropeza Like everything they mention on their "website" is true, they're also god sent angles who don't lie🤦smh. Now I get it, it's really not their fault, it's cause people would believe anything, so I guess they'll be fine with lying.
Sure only you have the wisdom to see through their scam jajaja but why as you claimed would they want people to see AirPods case as lasting longer while at the same time not showing the battery size they contain and claiming the exact opposite on their own website, great logic there 👍
My right Powerbeats pro bud went out due to sweat, which apparently corroded something according to Apple. They won’t repair it because I didn’t have Apple care, even though I’ve only had them for 2 months. Is it possible or realistic that I can find someone to repair this for less than the $179 a new pair would cost?
Waiting on next powerbeats pros for noise canceling and wireless charging which these would have had if apple hadnt already planned on releasing airpods pro
Only grip i have with mine is no wireless charging, every other brand out these has it and there is plenty of room in that case for it but nope Apple cheaped out. I cant believe that a group of engineers standing around crossed wireless charging off the list of features and thought it was a good idea not to include it.
Interesting thank you guys for this video tutorial on the beats pro wow the whole process and the parts component description of it all. The whole disconfiguration of the beats pro is amazing. I found this truly amazing and interesting really. I want to repair my beats pro but it seems like it'll be a troublesome process? I found the battery process on the headphones interesting doe. I wonder if that's the solution to my beats pro problem.
I hope one day we will have regulation requiring all mobile devices to have user replaceable batteries. I’m an AirPods owner and I like them a lot but after a few years of use their life is ending. Not good for us and for environment.
