    Her "I do" is so soft. She means no offense, but is just sad. She understands and would like to live with him, because she loves him and therefore, all the more understands his feelings. She is in as much emotional pain about this as he is.

      Yes, Sarah was so far ahead of Chuck. Actually Chuck was self centered most of the time while Sarah and Casey put Chuck and their responsibility to protect him ahead of themselves. Somewhere in season 3, that started to change - first with Sarah, then Casey. By midpoint of season 4, the transformation was complete and they were different characters from the ones who originally endeared themselves to the fans. We still cared about Sarah and Casey because we loved them the way a parent loves an adult child whose faults are obvious. I don't think it was a coincidence that the ratings suffered when comparing seasons 4 and 5 to seasons 1 and 2. Giving Chuck super physical abilities to match his intersect recall was a mistake. Giving Morgan the intersect was a bigger mistake. The charm was gone. The private security firm turned them into mercenaries - maybe for "good" but still mercenaries.

      @@akmaliafatimah6557 I don't think Chuck was self centered. they all pretty much showed selfish qualities at some point. but at the end of the day, Chuck put others before himself. I do agree the early season 5 episodes are difficult to watch. I didn't hate the ending like many others do. I do however wish we got to see a battle going on in her head between spy sarah and chuck sarah and we see chuck sarah win. but it is what it is.

    Even though Chuck was a "regular guy" and Sarah a spy, they're actually similar people.
    Sarah couldn't express her feelings for Chuck because she hadn't really felt love like that, before. Her dad used her to help him con people, and in season 4 she tells Ellie she was never really close to her mom. But she's also stopping herself from crying during his speech. She likely knows that Chuck is referring to her when he says "the girl that I love", and not just some hypothetical girlfriend.
    While Chuck did have Ellie and Morgan, you can tell not having his parents around for a lot of his childhood has effected him. That's been exacerbated by his experiences with Jill. But it's obvious that it's different with Sarah than it was with Jill.

    Chuck's a great guy and smart, but how could he not figure out the intersect WAS the reason he and Sarah worked. Without it, they'd never be a couple.
    Their relationship and chemistry were based on who they were as a team, saving the world.
    Her being a spy and him being some corporate guy, just wouldn't work.
    Instead of working so hard to get the intersect out, he should have been trying to figure out how to make their relationship work as is.

    • @ErikLeber-td7oj
      @ErikLeber-td7oj Рік тому +2

      But at the end of the season, she decides to stay, even though he doesn't have it anymore. Then during season 3, she decides to run away with him and quit spying TWICE. She fights most of Thailand to save him, when he again doesn't have the intersect. And he doesn't have it at all during season 5, and nothing changes til her memories become blocked.

    • @cryptojihadi265
      @cryptojihadi265 Рік тому +1

      @@ErikLeber-td7oj I'm not saying she didn't love him, she obviously did, but that came as a result of what they were doing together. She would have never fallen for him if he weren't the intersect, even if somehow, she had met him without it.
      So, yeah, she did move heaven and earth to go rescue him after the intersect wasn't working in him, because by that time she was deeply in love with him, but we would never get to see how the relationship would have fared if he didn't get it back, and he was just Joe Average and she was still a spy.
      And that's really more my point. Chuck needed to be a spy for the relationship to work and at that point in the series, without the intersect, he's not a spy.
      As to agreeing to leave the spy life with him, the reality ends up being very different than the expectations. It's one thing to agree to leave the spy life to be together, and another thing to actually be together without the spy life.
      You saw how long they lasted in Season 3 when they did leave the spy life for a whopping 3 days or whatever it was. Neither one could handle not being a spy. It really was the core that definted their relationship. Without it, he's just a nice guy, and Sarah isn't wired to be a housewife, and if she stayed being a spy and he wasn't, the relationship would wither and die.
      Now much later on, he had developed enough spy skills that he might have survived the business without it(he obviously did for most of season 5), so I am not saying at that point he needed the intersect, but the relationship needed them both to be spies.

      @@cryptojihadi265 But she already liked him before she knew it was in his head. It's pretty clear in the way she looked at him during their "first date" in the pilot, when she says "I like you, Chuck." It's pretty clear she means it. And she didn't even find out it was in his head til later, she just assumed it was on his computer. As many fans have pointed out, she liked him because of how he helped the clueless father, when they first met.
      And even Jill really was in love with him. She was just a victim of circumstance. She found herself in a situation she had no way out of. Just as Sarah would be during the beginning of season 3, she was worried about the spy stuff changing him, so clearly there was something she liked about Chuck, too.

    • @cryptojihadi265
      @cryptojihadi265 Рік тому

      @@ErikLeber-td7oj Good Lord it's a first date. You honestly think two people having a nice time on a first date means they will last as a couple let alone get married and make THAT work?
      I fully understand at this stage in the relationship as they are both talking in this scene, they THINK their relationship would work without the intersect and Chuck being a spy, but that's something most people get wrong. Life is challenging and there are things about it we sometimes wish weren't a part of it, but many times it's those challenges that make us who we are and, in this case, bring certain valuable people into our lives.
      It was the intersect and becoming a CIA asset that turned his life around and made him who he was and she fell in love with(not just the charm of a first date). Prior to that, he was defeated in life and going nowhere. No way she actually falls for that guy, first date charms notwithstanding.
      But even she knew that once the intersect was gone, she would get reassigned, she told him as much. She also knew he was a dead man. She tried to ignore it, but several times in the series it was clear, once the intersect was done, so was Chuck. No way in hell the NSA or the CIA would let some Joe average continue his life without being an asset with all the stuff he knew and had seen. Casey was the one assigned to take him out.
      Even Casey tried to fight for his life, saying he served his country with honor, and Gen Beckman's response was "and he will die with honor."
