    Its amazing to me that a band can have the back-up vocals as the 'hook' of most of their songs.

      @@davidqlo1377 found it! the user is named SimpleToSay, and it was posted to the my bloody valentine subreddit with the caption: “Strawberry Wine is the song that plays in your head when you first fall in love with somebody.” Was a comment under a UA-cam video I saw, and I couldn’t agree more. One of the most heavenly mbv songs ever!

    No one would still be talking about Kevin Shields & MBV if the songwriting hadn't evolved. There are a lot of people who can't stand Loveless. There are others who hate Isn't Anything. While yet others dislike the saccharine-pop of the E.P.s. This is the real power of MBV. W/a handful of albums, they've managed to appeal to distinctly different audiences & tastes...

    • @takecareofyourshoess
      @takecareofyourshoess Рік тому +5

      A lot of people that "can't stand loveless"?? I gotta disagree. Most people who have heard loveless like it, minimum. That's because most people that have been exposed to loveless have a more open mind about abstract music. The average person....yes, they will most likely hate it. For sure. But as to people who have naturally come across loveless?? I seriously doubt there are "a lot of people" who hate it. Same for the other releases, really.

    Autumn smells like crushed leaves, looks like blazing and dwindling branches, feels cool with the hood of my sweatshirt up, tastes like apple cider, and sounds like Strawberry Wine.

    I am priviliged to have this album on vinyl, and all the tracks are so special... jaunty, bouncy, even melodic. I saw them last year in Manchester..... the end of the session was literally 23 minutes of feedback... 23 minutes!!!! Like a plane engine overhead.... but refusing to move. The stewards were handing out ear plugs... it was intense! To play constantly like that for 27 minutes is pretty hard-core. I loved the gig and I love this band.

  • @Shawt_Kutz
    @Shawt_Kutz 13 років тому +11

    saw them at Moles in Bath in early Oct 1988. I'd hitched up from West Cornwall with a friend only to be told that Moles was a members only club with a capacity of about 10. Called the club and blagged a conversation with Colm who put us on the guestie. Shared a few beers and spliffs with them after. What a lovely unassuming lot. You Made Me Realise remains firmly in my Top 5 EPs of all time. You cannot underestimate their influence although they would admit the debt they to JaMC.

    Jamc might have been first combining noise and 60-girlgroup pop melodies, but mbv just did it a thousand times better, interestingly and with a more unique original crisp sound. best band since the 60's, maybe since always.

      +BearWindAppleyard To be fair, The Ramones took the basic 60s girl group sounds and mixed them up with punk - perhaps the New York Dolls too. JAMC had a completely different take on it and perhaps created a new sound, with the girl group/surf/Velvets melting pot and put the feedback up front.....Never Understand ! Whichever way you cut it - it was all fantastic stuff - wish we had more of it these days!

    my bloody valentine - strawberry wine
    [Verse 1]
    Misty morning in the springtime
    Close your eyes, your crystal eyes
    On the darkside let the light shine
    Please, please stay with me tonight
    These lips will find strawberry wine
    [Verse 2]
    I was looking at your window
    Lurking there beneath my feet
    Cherry apples, long grass meadows
    Close your eyes, for dreams in sleep
    These lips will find strawberry wine
    [Verse 3]
    Misty morning in the springtime
    Lurking there beneath your feet
    On the darkside let the light shine
    Think of me, don't let me keep
    These lips will find strawberry wine
