I've met Mr Weller backstage at Glasto in 2007. Ive met a lot of stars and that was the only time I got the starstruck. It was unnecessary too. He was an utter gent. Gave me a hug. Instant man crush.
Justin man, just want to let you know I hope you see this. I have seen you on and off for a few years. But during the lockdown I have picked up my guitar once again. You have helped me so much with learning songs and everything to be honest. I greatly appreciate your help and just wanted to let you know you are great. From a Irish man.
Heya justin, thats entertainment, great song,iv listened to the jam for yrs,and iv only started guitar 7 months but i can play a couple of songs, well bits and pieces, wonderwall and others but when i first got my steel string acoustic and watched this vid after a month or so,i was 'wow im never gona learn, but then after learning chords all the open chords first i tried thats entertainment and because i know the song inside out i got the strumming pattern fairly easy, and wonderwall was my first song, like im 46,started playing well learning 6 or 7 mth ago,but i knew nothing abount guitar, and know i tried the song just by ear and the chords you have taught me,it was good,i just have to work on the Am shift to the f chord, but its coming on,just wanted to thank you,ur tutorials have taught me the basics and a few songs in 7 months,il keep going thanks justin, your a legend
Oi Justin! Thanks for this lesson. This has been one of my top songs of all time since I was a kid. Always dreamt of being able to play this. Never got round to learning guitar as a youngster (lazy, lack of funds, commitment and confidence) but a couple of years ago decided to buy a guitar and pony up for lessons and I'm glad I did. Recently felt confident enough to try this song and looked for a lesson and found yours. Now at the ripe old age of 48 I'm finally playing the song I always dreamt of being able to play. I always find your lessons the best out of the various online tutors.
Just wanted to say that I have enjoyed all your tutorials for so many years and you are of course a downright likable bloke. Thanks for this awesome tutorial!
Great lesson. Thank you. Heard it on the radio yesterday while driving and the riff really appealed to me so I made a mental note to give it a try. Your lesson came up right away and it's surprisingly easy. "Bring Back the Jam!" Sewing the Seeds of Love, Roland Orzabal.
Dear Justin, you're usually right about chords, licks, fingerpicking etc., but the Am in the chorus should be a A major (Capo III). Keep the Good work going 😊
Justin the man, songs played with chords only, more intricate tracks (his lesson on "Mary had a little lamb" by stevie ray vaughn is absolutely spot on). Solo lessons? Accept no substitute
Great lesson. If the Jam had released this as a single with Bucklers full drumming in it as per the demo, I’m sure it would have been another number 1 hit for them. Don’t know what they were thinking taking the drums out. It’s a much lesser song without drums
Each to their own but this song, in my opinion, is waaay better for being just the guitar and the bass. In fact. If I had to pick a top 5 favourite songs of all time, thats entertainment is going to be in it. My daughter's both play bass but can't convince them to learn the bass line to play along with me.
Mate he does a live version of town called malice on acoustic but the way he plays it is class I've got the d pattern he uses down but a lesson would be great it's hard to watch him and learn cos you don't see all his moves and chords 😊
Justin I love your vids! I started playing guitar thanks to you... and I also love Neil Young. I was wandering if you could do a lesson on how to play Ambulance Blues properly, from On the Beach album. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this!
It’s been said already but it is a great explanation of the strumming pattern, does he call it framing when you double up like that? I’ve been trying using a metronome, what tempo should I be aiming for?
Don't know if it helps anyone else but I was having a lot of trouble cycling that initial DA-da -Dah! - It was sounding a bit laboured & out of place. I found out you REALLY have to do that flick quick to make it flow!
Is it a good idea for beginners to try and learn this? I've just started learning and I feel like I need a song to aim for. I would take any song by The Jam as Weller is the reason I wanted to learn.
Definitely aim for it but note, it contains strumming, rhythm and chord change techniques that are beyond basic beginner. According to a one time friend, Weller was heavily involved in plagiarism!!!! Running poetry competitions..... That's entertainment was also words from :not Paul Weller, that's for sure.
just watching you explain this makes me think " you are having a laugh", how on earth do you get four fingers to do something different at the same time, ridiculous, having said that, i cant play guitar at all

oh man... that's brilliant mate. you've taken me back to my hay days.. great memories of the jam... Once again thank you and god bless...

ooo. More Weller. Awesome. How about 'Country' from Wild Wood.
Hey, great playing! Was kinda looking for the barre chord version though.
Don't know if it helps anyone else but I was having a lot of trouble cycling that initial DA-da -Dah! - It was sounding a bit laboured & out of place. I found out you REALLY have to do that flick quick to make it flow!
Great lesson id say that's some serious entertainment 😏
