I discovered your channel when I was looking for this exact comparison. Been subscribed for a while, love your playing and your sounds, and I just added a Super Sweet to the EP on my pedal board.
yeah totally agree. I was wondering the difference between both the pedals, and he really nails it in this review. The Super sweet is really more about gain. The EP sounds like the one for me. I prefer hanging around in the light gain areas with the right amount of bass boost/cut, high boost/cut.

Great demo Simon. Love the EP, I have 3...one on my acoustic board. The Super Sweet sounds great! I was looking for a mild OD tone and I think I can dial one in with this pedal. Ordered one! Subscribed and will check out you other vids!
Randy Willcox Thank you Randy. I feel the same way about the xotic pedals. Ep has been on my board ever since I bought my first ep many years ago. It just adds that lovely thick tone. And now I use it with the Super Sweet as a pre overdrive boost. Works great. I love that sp comp too, that was my go-to comp for a couple of years. Still dig it. Cheers Simon
Damn! The Super Sweet is killer! I have an EP Booster that I love and I might want to pick up the Super Sweet to go with it! Absolutely killer playing and the tone is to die for!
Looking for something for my tele into my Mesa 5:50 express, just to give it some more kick in the pants, I had a TC Mini Spark, but it was a clean boost, on my clean channel all it did was make the tone louder, which one do you suggest for making a clean or slightly broken up into that gnarly rock n f n roll sound
@@SimonGotthelfMusic Thank you Simon, the Super Sweet is on order! I am planning on utilizing it as part of an amp-less setup/board along with Revival Drive & Benson Preamp. It feels its tone is slightly more focused and compressed relative to the EP Booster. However, the EP Booster feels like offering slightly more even tonal distribution. All in all, both sound lovely. Thank you so much for your wonderful demos!
for me, I prefer the hi's of the super sweet. my amp can be a bit dark and i'm often looking for top end. also preferred your tone with hi's, though, each has their own tone. I have an MI audio boost, that adds top end and pushes my front end of a mesa single rec which I run with low gain, low bass.
Scott Mac If the amp is dark then I definetly think the Super Sweet is the way to go. And that hi mid boost is really great to make the sound sit well in a mix. Cheers Simon
Thanks Simon for this very informative video. I'm glad you took the time to demonstrate that, unlike the EP, the Super sweet won't boost your sound when the gain is at 0. I'm going to give the Super Sweet a try. I've been using the RC for several years as an end of chain solo boost, but I've been meaning to try something that can give me just the right amount of mids to cut through when needed, especially when using the AC Booster. I'm a big fan of the Xotic products as well, and I have found many of your previous videos helpful and entertaining. Cheers!
I love the simplicity of the EP, but the super sweet is definitely more versatile. I tend to use the EP only for Jazz - gives me the warm fat tone I want. Super clean is also really nice.

I normally use my ep booster as an always on pedal/buffer. Should I run it at the beginning of chain, pre effects loop, post effects loop, or end of chain?
Hi Simon, thanks for another great demo. I use an EP in my amps loop as a clean boost for solos. It does add a bit of warmth though. Do you think the Supersweet would be a better choice to add a less coloured boost?
Bill Sherrington Thank you Bill. I definetly think the super sweet or super clean is better for a clean boost with no color. But there is something about the warm tone of the ep so it depends what you want. I am not selling my ep but the Super Sweet is on my board for different things - great pedals (all 3) Cheers Simon
Yes I use an EP in the loop as well People think I'm crazy lol but anyways I don't use it as a boost for solos per session I use it to bolster the clean tones Clean channel-Fatboost Drive channel-EPboost but w a TS out front for max solo tone I find the less pedals out front keep it quieter as well
The question now is now do I add one of the new ones, and where, if I already have my EP always on.;) The Pedal Show guys suggested putting one in an effects loop. It does seem like Xotic could/should collapse all of these into one pedal with a few more knobs for gain (to cover the Clean and Sweet) and EQ (to cover the EP).
It does seem like Xotic could/should collapse all of these into one pedal with a few more knobs for gain (to cover the Clean and Sweet) and EQ (to cover the EP).
The EP booster on your video gives more character than the Super Sweet - if I wanted more gain I'd use an overdrive on top of the EP. For basic cleanish sound the EP alone is better. YMMV, obviously. Best, Pete.
