  • BASIC BALL-HANDLING 1 | DRILL BREAKDOWN | ALL AGES & SKILL LEVELS
🏀The purpose of this drill is to create muscle memory and increase strength and precision in your most commonly used ball-handling movements.
🔑 The key to this drill is repetition, according to former NBA All-Star, Tim Hardaway.
1️⃣ Pound Dribble: Start in a low stance with your knees bent, shoulders square to the front. With all five fingertips, begin dribbling the ball with more force than a normal dribble. Continue for one minute and repeat with weak hand.
2️⃣ Inside-Out Dribble: Keeping your low stance, use your fingertips to dribble the ball inward toward the center of your body. On the next dribble, push the ball outward in the opposite direction. Continue dribbling the ball in and out for one minute. Maintain proper pound dribble throughout. Repeat with opposite hand.
3️⃣ Back & Forth: Much like the inside-out dribble, use your fingertips to pound the ball back and forth from the front side of your body to the back. Maintain your pound dribble, low stance and keep your gaze out in front of you. Repeat on the opposite side.
📈 Practice your Basic Ball-Handling 1 anywhere you and your basketball go. Most importantly, before practice and games throughout your basketball career. Tag @SportsEdTV and show us how you train to improve this skill to be featured in our stories!
