The Most Dangerous Asteroid Is Here, But NASA Has a Plan

- Have you heard about Asteroid Apophis? It's like the rockstar of space-cool name, big impact! This bad boy has been causing a stir among astronomers. It's got a reputation for being a bit of a troublemaker, swinging by Earth every now and then, giving us all a little scare. But don't worry, it's not all doom and gloom-NASA's been keeping a close eye on it. They're on top of the game, crunching numbers, plotting trajectories, and making sure Apophis knows who's boss. So, while it's definitely something to keep an eye on, let's leave the asteroid-wrangling to the experts, shall we?

Friday the 13th isnt exactly the best day to be flying by 😂
I was born on the 13th 🤣 I have nothing but bad luck.
It just 374 meter in length, and about 340 wide. It's not even one km , whereas Chixulub was 10 kms. Civilization will not end; however big troubles for our generations.
Yep I agree , from what I’ve learned over the years watching these asteroid docs ,
Is that most of the experts says it would have to be over a mile to threaten humanity
Hits the water it will be over 😂
Hits the moon😂 wait a sec🫥
Looking at the state of the world right now it wouldn't be the worst thing to happen.
Yeah, personally I wouldnt care
That was my exact thought, we really need to be the next dinosaur, and soon.
Amen. I'd just hang out with my wife and son and if we survive then survive we shall do!!
We don’t deserve this planet
Every single one of you is a straight up coward.
It's almost as if Earth hasn't cleared its orbit... 🤔
Maybe by 2029, a new Avatar movie will be made
When you look at the state of the earth right now There's never been a better time for an asteroid to hit
We are better now than ever. Ever looked into history? Lol
😂yeah there would be some major changes
@@kevindagod Yes, I did! What do you think about the 60's,70's, 80's and 90's...?
I better die from asteroid than Nukes
I prefer to die from both, but unfortunately most of the time, it's usually not up to us on how we will die or when.
If an asteroid hits a nuke can Go off
Where are their nukes to stop asteroid for hitting earth?
I like how he said he calmly what would happen if it hit. Lol 😂
Ai has no feelings, not to mention it will eventually destroy humanity.
@@thereckoning5488 😂🤣😂... Ok Elon, tell us some more fairytales. AI has the potential to be misused, for sure, as far as deep fakes, and forgery of paintings or photos. It also has the ability to do mundane tasks, like run billions of line of codes in scenarios of different enzymes, lipids, and other chemicals in our bodies, in order to figure out a cure for certain diseases, a process that would take our worlds fastest super computer currently, over 100yrs, could be done with a quantum computer, (uses a type of AI technology) in a couple hours.
AI technology has been around for almost a decade, and the AI level of technology that people think of as replicating human intelligence, like in the "i Robot" movie, the type that Elon Musk, and others love to fear monger about, we are no where even close to accomplishing that, many experts say that we will never get there and be able to create a machine that replicates sentient biological intelligence. So relax, Terminator was just a movie...lol.
NASA’s plan: RUN!
😂 where to?
@@Mimi-pe6yzyour dad’s basement
Or just the moon
The calculations again? 😂
Bruh nasa will just send another 10 spacecrafts to crash in to it. Maybe even nuke it lol
"Don't look up"
Lol
We go through the Perseid Meteor shower twice a year which could provide a nice surprise at any time
Those meteors are much, much smaller than Apophis.
@@timvermeulen4024 How do you know? It is the rubble from an exploded planet having many different sizes of debris which haven't been categorized by anyone.
It's the tail of a comet; Swift-Tuttle. No exploded planet to be seen. Nor its remains. @@mach1gtx150
@@mach1gtx150wrong. It's the debris field from a passing comet tail
It's too bad we don't have superman to divert it. The old tv show had an episode depicting this event.
I dont think this heavenly body can be diverted or deflected or pushed or pulled, its volatile, its constantly rotating!!!!
Many more asteroids and comets out there far more dangerous then Apophis that could have earth in its crosshairs 💀💀
I hope so! 🤞
No.
It was named 99942 Apophis because:
The astronomers who discovered it were geeks (not a bad thing).
999: because it's 666 upside down. You know. Mark of the Beast.
42: because it's the ultimate answer, to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Apophis: because he was the villain on their favorite show- Stargate: SG1.
Do you want to spot the difference? There's a new one here
Yes!
There is non bruh!
I’ll be in my car with a full tank of fuel and everything I need to survive on top of a mountain that day! Just in case!

April 13, 2029 is the most problematic date..
Shi that's only 5 years away
@brightside 335m asteroid is not even close enough to destroy us. As someone with 44m subscribers, you should do more research or at least get someone that can do it for you.
Aphid isn't big enough to wip us out but could do a lot of damage if did strike the earth.
A very solid, hard metal mass with planet destroying kinetic energy. All it takes is a nudge to hit earth. Every rock travels unpredictably @ 20k mph.
I will never pronounce it A-POE-FIS, it's A-PAH-FIS. You said it both ways in this video lol..
We should try to slow it down and harvest it some how

Tom Horn. 2029. Look it up.
I watched his opinion on it a few years ago. He thinks it's going to be the end.
Per Brandon, in a dream it came from the west heading east. He said it will be sliced by a green laser. It will hit the Caribbean.
It's going to miss us by 20,000 feet? That's closer than a commericial airliner!!!!!
20,000 miles….not feet
Nice try. We know it will be here on Friday 13th, April 2029. and returns again in 2036. This is when it might even hit earth.
Do you believe NASA may be the Sheep i am not a Sheep 😅
Am I the only one freaking out rn?
YEAH like... fr😢😮
Bro if it has iron annd nickel just mine the asteroid
How do they know what it's made of , you don't catch them in a lie , saying it's got a thick crust , right? How they know that if they never reached it yet ?
Aphos won't hit us but it wiill come very close to us indeed.
Bring it on!!
I've got three Nickel Ferrous Olivine meteorites.
It's Apophin' time
My concern isn't necessarily about an asteroid naturally crashing into earth so much as it is about someone weaponizing an asteroid and basically throwing it at Earth. Suppose Russia tried to redirect an asteroid so as to aim it for the center of North America or something...
Interesting!
Apophasis is a pebble compared to Bennu 1
NASA has a Plan! Yay!!!! Still waiting on the next Lunar Landing...
*APOOOOOOPHIS* 😈
20 thousand miles!! That's spooky close! Lol
What if instead of a "gravitational keyhole", it's a "dark energy" keyhole? I'm just askin'.
Even if it hits, it’s not big enough to do any global damage - at worst it would wipe out a city or cause a moderate tsunami….nothing to really worry about
" _once in a lifetime_ opportunity to view it in 2029, then it'll be viewable again in 2036." 😂
We are now asking an asteroid to save us 🤦♀️
Here's a fun fact the dinosaurs got hit with more than one asteroid at the time. Which means apophis can easily have a friend that comes with him. In the end no one will know until 2029
Oh! NASA has a plan ! Well that’s a relief!
I think I’ll get at shorts made “ Apophis 2029!”
Tidal waves couldn't flood everything. Utah and Colorado would be dry.
Embertársaim bízzatok a Teremtőben ,biztosítja azt az ERŐT ,amellyel a Föld örökké megmarad. Hála érte
ive been telling everyone for yrs that this asteroid will hit us soon and were still not prepared for it i sent NASA an idea to create a bunch of space magnets that could attach to asteroid's and push them back out to space these magnets would be the size of a aircraft carrier and would have about 6 thrusters if we can make them we can save earth for decades to come from any danger types like this
your not saying the name Apophis right now at 1:15 you say it the right way
When we do make a craft to intercept Apophis we should name it
Dumbo. Hey Dumbo go eat that peanut
This sounds like a deleated scene from Stargate SG-1! Appophis is alive and well. Apparently.
Try stopping apophis asteroid within the week, correct?
At 300 metres it's nowhere near massive enough to destroy life on earth.
Depends where it hits
I heard 2036 for arrival. We got just 12 years on planet earth., then it's hasta la vista baby.
Bennu is larger than Apophis.
Ok and?
Why is everything described in metric? Metric is complicating.
Is it made of the dirt
I don't get notified i have to check myself 😒
It's not a billion years old the Bible says that the earth is 6000 years old and there's proof
Scientists have proof that the earth is over a billion years old. Since this is a science-based site, can’t you just give them the benefit of the doubt?

To be fair even tho we're pretty knowledgeable on tracking these things nasa has said before things have been missed before. So honestly we should just be living like we're about to get hit. See family, ask that girl or guy out. See things you want to see and love life.
OH NAHHHH IM SCARED THIS IS MY FiRST TIME TO SEE IT!
The issue is not an Earth impact but that it is going to take out 100s of geosynchronous satellites in the Clarke Belt.

NASA has a plan😂 I wouldn’t put too much faith in that given its recent success
It's awfully bold of you to say it'll be the first spacecraft to ever land on apophis after saying it's billions of years old and civilizations have risen and fallen on this world during our known recorded history.

I think 2036 or 68 when the asteroid again approaches us is when it could hit the earth due to the sirkosky effect.
