    Nobody thought the Canucks would be here before the season started. They have exceeded all expectations and everyone’s counting the Nucks out….again, but never underestimate a team that essentially has nothing to lose.

    The regular season vs playoff narrative shaping is getting old. Canucks PK is firing on all cylinders right now, who cares about the regular season? The same people who say our penalty kill sucked this year in the regular season will say the season sweep of the Oilers meant nothing. Seems the regular season only factors in when someone is trying to win an argument about a specific team.

  • @zwhtan
    @zwhtan 17 днів тому +3

    Why do people keep quoting what are essentially meaningless statistics for 1 series? This isn't to say that the Canucks won't have a serious challenge on their hands, but Edmonton beat up on a team that couldn't score to save their lives. Playing a trap with very little offensive talent might work during the regular season - not during the playoffs. The Canucks managed to beat a team that could trap equally well, but that had lots of offensive power. One of the best teams, in fact, in the last half of the season. So please stop already with the statistical nonsense.

      a missed empty net goal by the Preds fand some last minute luck to barely win by a single goal late in the 3rd several times? Sounds like a recipe to win for sure. Canucks didnt have a single dominant win.

    Vancouver can go back to the 4 wins sweep during the regular season even though experts don't think that counts but It does to Vancouver knowing they can beat the Oilers.

    I wonder what the odds would of been if demko was starting. Wonder if it would would of changed much

    • @joelface
      @joelface 16 днів тому

      I don't know what the experts would have said, but Demko in net would remove a pretty major "unknown" in net for the Canucks. Silovs is a great goaltender, but he looked like a GOD against Nashville at times.. and it's pretty unlikely that that holds. He's likely to look "good" against the Oilers with a pretty wide margin on either side of that within which he might land on any given night. He might be absolutely spectacular, but we can't be as certain of that as we would be if it was Demko. So I think that's where that uncertainty is a factor in how the experts rank the team.

  • @michaelbinbc
    @michaelbinbc 16 днів тому

    The regular season stats do not matter. The playoffs have always been a whole new season. Everyone says the Canucks need to get scoring... Nashville is a trap team... the Oilers are not. The Canucks will be fine.

    The Oilers are the underdogs this season and this series, and they’re a far grittier team than the Canucks and the rich kid yacht party fans who got their playoffs tickets from their CEO daddies. TO media is tryna make a story, that’s all. I think the Oilers are overall the better team, but Canucks have that big d core. I hope the Oilers take this series. Way more fun to watch than the Canucks.

    Oilers in 5… maybe Canucks get 2 but this over in 5, 6 max. Oilers are more experienced. And have so many different ways to score. They can play off the rush or dump and chase.

    Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl with 18 lawn chairs are more talented then all 20 Canucks combined. Doesn’t mean the Canucks can’t win , they just have to work really hard, limit their mistakes and don’t take any dumb penalties. Go Canucks go!

    • @AtticsTV
      @AtticsTV 16 днів тому +3

      This isn't true at all. In fact, the reason why Canucks blew Oilers out of the water in the early regular season was because the Oilers PROVED that McDavid and Draisaitl couldn't carry 18 lawn chairs. The reason Oilers made the playoffs and are hot is because the players finally got out of the lawn chairs. This isn't to say McDrai isn't good. They still carry the team absolutely, its just that the oilers finally have the rest of the team chipping in.

    • @joelface
      @joelface 16 днів тому +1

      A good team can often shut down a top player or two in the playoffs. Not saying it'll happen here, but often it is depth over top-end talent that wins championships. That's why I get concerned when teams sign massive contracts to a single player in the cap era... it often costs the team the depth they need to go far.
