Mit 2 Kinder jedes Jahr vollgepackt bis oben hin, mit Gepäckträger nach Süditalien, 2000km, Übernachtung im Auto. Damals fanden wir Kinder den Wagen als zu eckig. Heute liebe ich ihn! This is the car I learned how to drive on way back when in Egypt! Ours was the 1400cc version in a weird grey/beige color, a 1978 model, and we loved it immensely. It never missed a beat in the 15 years we owned it and we sold it to a guy who used it as a cab for several years afterwards! That car was mechanically indestructible and living in Egypt helped ward off rust since it rarely rained, so it kept going and going. Wish I still had it, though I don't think it would have survived where I am now, i.e. Canada, for too long, lol. Thanks for uploading this and for the trip down memory lane.

The first two Fiats in our family were 124 - a S of the first series and a Special of the second, but not T (although my father certainly would have loved it). Since 2019 I am owning a 124 again - the 19th Fiat in the family, a 124 Sport BC1 with the 1608 twin cam, double twin carb engine and in the same red as this wonderful 124 ST. Great cars.

Bella auto, introvabile in queste condizioni. La 124 mi è sempre piaciuta in tutte le sue versioni, questa poi è il top di gamma... Sono appassionato di Fiat e di Alfa Romeo d'epoca e ne ho possedute e usate diverse ( purtroppo si ho quasi 60 anni), tra queste una 124 sport, una Special 1400 e soprattutto una 125 Special che mi ha dato tante soddisfazioni. Mi complimento col proprietario per essere riuscito a trovare un esemplare in queste condizioni, ma se posso fare una precisazione voglio dire che il motore della sua 124 non è quello della 125 ma solo simile: La 125 insieme alla 124 Sport 2 serie montava la vecchia versione del bialbero Lampredi e cioè quella con misure "quadre" 80x80 per una cilindrata di 1608cc. Della stessa serie era il bialbero 1438 cc che riportava lo stesso alesaggio di 80 mm. con corsa accorciata a 72 mm. se non erro. Il motore della Special T 1600 era quello più moderno della 132 con alesaggio di 90 mm. offerto nelle cilindrate di 1592, 1756 e 1995 (scusatemi se sbaglio qualche cifra ma sono passati tanti anni) lavorando sulla corsa. Infatti i 2 motori pur essendo perfettamente intercambiabili sono sostanzialmente differenti nella lunghezza del monoblocco che è maggiore di circa 2 cm. nella seconda versione, diverso è anche il codice motore che inizia per 125 per il primo e 132 per il secondo. Anche la potenza cambia: 95 hp per la124 ST e 101 per la 125 S che era decisamente più brillante della successiva 132 1600. Magari se ne trovassero ancora nelle condizioni di questa!

My Father worked for the Italian consulate in England and I can remember his 124 Special T very well as a small child it was Fiat magic thanks for posting the video it brought back a lot of memories

Eventhough I owned a Fiat 131 1600 Supermirafiori, having sat in the rear seat on an intrastate journey, I was very impressed the stock Fiat 124 Special T driven by my staff handles corners better than my car and has good torque. It earned my respect.
My father had one of these when I was growing up in the late 70s. Great memories. It was definitely a wolf in sheep clothing. I distinctly remember my dad outgunning a jaguar xjs at the lights, the Fiat was rapid and way ahead of any of its British rivals in its class mechanically. Unfortunately, it succumbed to rust ( lived in Edinburgh ).

My grandpa owned this 1972 model, he repainted it into blu denim color. My childhood was full of this car, sadly my grandpa sold it on 2008. But it is a nice car

Dad's best friend had one. He never drove it at less than 120 kph in the Costa Rican highways, that weren't many! His had a Fiamm air horn that he used oftenly! The sound of the engine was sweet as the way he drove it. I wish to find it and restore it as well as my 1984 BMW 318i coupe that I regret having sold!

@@roadrarities No, his had the sound similar to the Dukes of Hazzard´s Dodge! As the Fiat´s steering wheel had four spokes, and four different buttons for the horn he had them wired in such way that the top ones made a different sound than the lower ones. He studied in Milano Italy and always drove with his gloves on!
Back in the mid 1980s, I bought a brand new, red, Lada 1600ES. I know it’s not a ‘true’ FIAT, but that particular Lada was an unfairly maligned car. It had the four headlamp, chrome grill design, and mine featured the shared front direction indicators embedded in a Canadian spec front and rear bumpers. It had the same chromed window design as that FIAT 124, but featured a ‘mid body line chrome strip, along as the one below the bottom of the doors, which had marker lights at both ends of it. The interior and dashboard being similar to the FIAT, but not exactly the same. Different, less responsive engine, and the car was heavier overall than the FIAT, and nowhere near as economic. It was a lot of car for the money, and I loved it, and kept it for many years.

I came across a few of these whilst working in a Fiat dealership back in late 70s early 80s. Always wanted one but never made it. 131's didn't have the same character.

My Grandfather owned one in the mid-70's and modified the engine by ditching the original engine for something tuned that came out of a crashed Fiat 124 Spider. I think it was close to 140 hp and made the car "interesting" to drive 😀 He replaced it with something far more sensible. A Fiat 131 Supermirafiori... that was also tuned 😀 We had it until the 90's and the noise of it turned me into a lifelong petrol head.
The Fiat 125 did not have the same engine. The Fiat 125 had a 1608ccm 80x80mm engine type 125A000 or 125B000 for the Special version. However, the Fiat 124 Special T 1600 had a 1592cc 80x79.2mm engine from the Fiat 132.

mio padre ne compro una usta in Svizzera nel 1975 identica e dello stesso colore...ero pazzo per questa macchina. Peccato la vendette per comperare una vw Passat 1300 2 porte.
E' un motore EMi ideato dall'ingegner Lampredi, coi pistoni bombati come le Alfa Romeo, con la differenza che questo motore non è col basamento in alluminio e canne in ghisa bagnate, ma con basamento completamente in ghisa con le intercapedini.
Questa semplice 124, si beveva le Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600. Non ci credete? Ora gli alfisti mi sbranano. La mia faceva i 180 e si mangiava le gomme . Era più leggera.
Gli alfisti non ti sbranano, ma nemmeno credono a quello che dici. La 124 l'ho avuta anch'io , auto molto bella e dalle prestazioni brillanti, però stare davanti alla Giulia era impossibile. Considera la potenza dei motori: Fiat 124 cv 95, Giulia Super 1600 cv103 e da questo si comprende che le prestazioni della Giulia erano superiori.

Ist ja auch nicht Bayrisch, ist Oberösterreichisch. Grundsatz meines Kanals ist, daß die Präsentationen möglichst authentisch rüber kommen sollen, eben auch in der Sprache der Region von welcher der Präsentator kommt. Sollte man es nicht verstehen, kann man Untertitel in verschiedenen Sprachen einblenden. Allerdings Schwäbisch habe ich noch nicht im Programm.
Mit diese Motor war sehr selten,absolute Topmodel,ich gratuliere. Gruesse von echte Fiat Fan aus Polen.

I am from South Africa and had a 124 Special with the 1438cc engine.Had it from 1974 to 1990.The low gearing gave it excellent performance.

My father bought this car in 1980 by Fiat in Rome (the car was built in 1972, and he bought it used). I learned to drive with it. Bellissima auto!!!

The Fiat 125 did not have the same engine. The Fiat 125 had a 1608ccm 80x80mm engine type 125A000 or 125B000 for the Special version. However, the Fiat 124 Special T 1600 had a 1592cc 80x79.2mm engine from the Fiat 132.

Furono costruite 23.000.000 di unità della "normale" Fiat 124
mio padre ne compro una usta in Svizzera nel 1975 identica e dello stesso colore...ero pazzo per questa macchina. Peccato la vendette per comperare una vw Passat 1300 2 porte.
Ma i ricordi di questa macchina probabilmente sono rimasti, o sono stati risvegliati di nuovo con questo video: anche questo è qualcosa di carino. :-)

E' un motore EMi ideato dall'ingegner Lampredi, coi pistoni bombati come le Alfa Romeo, con la differenza che questo motore non è col basamento in alluminio e canne in ghisa bagnate, ma con basamento completamente in ghisa con le intercapedini.

Questa semplice 124, si beveva le Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600. Non ci credete? Ora gli alfisti mi sbranano. La mia faceva i 180 e si mangiava le gomme . Era più leggera.

Gli alfisti non ti sbranano, ma nemmeno credono a quello che dici. La 124 l'ho avuta anch'io , auto molto bella e dalle prestazioni brillanti, però stare davanti alla Giulia era impossibile. Considera la potenza dei motori:
Fiat 124 cv 95, Giulia Super 1600 cv103 e da questo si comprende che le prestazioni della Giulia erano superiori.

Ich komme aus dem tiefsten Schwaben, Kreis Biberach an der Riss und verstehe normalerweise auch bayrischen Dialekt. Aber das was du hier von dir gibst, ist unterirdische, habe fast Nichts verstanden. Du hättest dich wenigstens ein bisschen anstrengen können. Beitrag ansonsten okay.
Ist ja auch nicht Bayrisch, ist Oberösterreichisch.
Grundsatz meines Kanals ist, daß die Präsentationen möglichst authentisch rüber kommen sollen, eben auch in der Sprache der Region von welcher der Präsentator kommt. Sollte man es nicht verstehen, kann man Untertitel in verschiedenen Sprachen einblenden. Allerdings Schwäbisch habe ich noch nicht im Programm.
