Tomb guards can have their badges revoked for any illegal or dishonorable activity throughout their entire life.
I was honored to attend a changing of the guard ceremony last August. We had come on a Tuesday, and it was in the morning, so me, my cousin, and our tour guide were the only people there.
Even though there were only three of us, they still did every speech, step and inspection. That’s because they weren’t doing it for show. It wasn’t for an audience, it was to show honor.
And I swear, when the ceremony started, even the wind got quiet.
These soldiers have such an honored position to protect and make sure those tombs are respected.
Any tourist who cannot be quiet and respectful deserves to have their pants soiled.
Thanks for reacting to this.
I'm so proud of you BP2, playing golf in the sunshine in the UK must be an extraordinary event 😂
It takes tremendous dedication to every detail of dress and carry to become a Guard at The Tomb of The Unknown Soldier. Their training is intense and it is the Changing of The Guard where you can observe their excellence. The Medal of The Tomb Guard is highly sought and respected.
Thank you for reacting to this again. Have watch other videos of this. Some do not grasp the devastating seriousness of those lost at war and display proper and earned solemn respect for their sacrifice. It irks me no end. This ceremony has been and is a perpetual honoring of fallen heroes, not a casual public event interspersed with ungrateful, ignorant tourists.
Gotta love how they are more concerned about that weight of the gun than they are about the fact they can shoot to kill. lol. I often watch the fine British horse guards but I see them only on duty for an hour at a time. Mind you it can a rough hour tho. lol.
God bless these dedicated amazing finest of Americans. And the British guards as well. It's takes a special soul.
Thank you for reacting to this, gentlemen. Please react to the Changing of the Guard. It's truly awe-inspiring.
Never gets old.
You guys mentioned the “Horse Guard”, in London, just a little trivia for you, the soldiers and horses only do 1 hr shifts before they change over, the ceremony around that is spectacular to see.
Love the channel guys, greetings from sunny Queensland Australia
Thank you for reacting to this but I have the utmost respect for the Royal guards to they're awesome
Even if the rifles aren't loaded that pointed thing on the end is called a bayonet and all soldiers are trained to use them.
So many people have no respect for anyone or anything anymore- Makes me sad and angry. Common sense I guess is gone for many.
You have even more respect when you experience the heat and humidity of Arlington.
I'd be interested in the British equivalent.
There isn't a more hallowed ground in the US.
I'm sure the weight of a rifle for an hour is not a problem for any soldier.
I would like to clarify that when I said " I'm sure the weight..." I meant no disrespect to the guards or the hosts. The accolades to the guards should be to their sincerity and dedication. Not because they can walk a path for an hour with a gun. I am a carpenter. The rifle weight is nothing.
The guards do have live amo on them n carry a loaded pistol. The bayonet is real n once the rifle slipped n the bayonet went thru one guards boot but he never showed the pain that he had n continued the walk. When he finally ended his march n left the area he saw blood coming out of the hole in the boot. If I remember correctly they serve for 2 years??? One ceremony i was lucky to be at was when Trace Atkins placed a wreath at the front of the Monument. My cousin was there when Prince Harry placed a wreath.❤
The guards carrying live ammo is a myth that has been debunked over and over. The Tomb Guards are purely ceremonial, and according to a couple of documentaries and former tomb guards themselves, no live ammo is ever carried. There is a security detail nearby that would be the armed response. The Tomb Guard is not allowed to physically engage someone unless in a purely self defense scenario, not even in defense of the tomb itself.
21, "well it gives you something to do while you're out there. " pathetic.
I agree. Ignorant statement !
If you have ever spent time in a situation like that you would understand what we meant by that comment :)
