Bro lvl 32 isnt even that far in the last normal boss and last 3 hard mode bosses are group only and require people to be a team and not just mindless DPS.
Warframe doesn't manipulate drop rates to try to get you to spend money though. Nexon does and was literally fined by the Korean government for it just recently.
@@Zeptol79 Not really. Consider if WF didn't have player-to-player trading in its current state. They'd be pretty even, as far as monetization goes. Actually, WF would be worse, since Reactors/Cats as well as Forma are basically mandatory, and only Forma are obtainable on a regular basis. TFD actually has a healthier system for getting similar upgrade mats... if WF didn't have trading. If TFD ever added 60%+ discounts like what WF has, I think the MTX would be viewed similarly. Consider that a single Warframe is priced such that without player trading and login discounts, it would cost a minimum of $20-25 to have enough platinum to buy one. That said, Nexon (we know how *they* are) aren't likely to add discounts to one of their games, so WF will always have a better model in the end. Trading for TFD is supposedly on the way, but we'll have to see *what* exactly can even be traded, and what other limits they'll impose. As for grinding, it's pretty relative. There's people in WF who have had to farm for **weeks** to get Equinox, not to mention the horrific grind for Arcanes, when Flare, Energize, Augmented, as well as several others are just expected for end-game builds.
As a Warframe and Destiny 2 player I honestly don’t mind the grind. I also have developed the patience to wait multiple days to build a single character.

I beat the story and I think I might be done with the game. The bullet sponge dps bosses just aren't engaging enough to warrant the grind. I speak only for myself. Some people love to grind for grinds sake and for that I say you will love this game.

Gley - 3 modules take 8 hours each + making her is 16 if you can do maths that's 32 hours. Not really difficult to find out but you will get there bud :D

@@sinistertales You are completely right. Yet I never stated I played for 32 hours. I mentioned 32 hours it takes to unlock Gley a descendant (pre gather materials). I mention this 3 times in the video if you watched it through. Also Currently 3 bosses in level 42 as bunny and tied down to waiting a full day before unlocking a character due to Mobile time mechanics. Tis Only person I will reply to because there is a lot of type now think later but if you are level 14 then you should know that to unlock a character takes resources that time gate you. Nothing wrong with the game., otherwise I would have stopped but it's something to be wary about hence my recent video. Thank you for the feedback regardless :D

The game is great, ofcourse its gunna be a cash grab on the micro transactions, Its a free to play game. You ever played warframe? Kinda similar yet its one of the best looter shooters around. Considering it only just released it plays like a dream wich honestly is breath of fresh air. I understand were your coming from but i think your concerns are a bit misplaced. But good video however try and think more about the positives rather than just the negatives. I feel if you had a bit more balance on the pros and cons this video would have been recieved a bit better. Other than that good video and have a great day my dude. Of course you can have your opinion, but how can you say about something that is great, when these kind of games should be played at least 30 hours to see if get repetitive etc?... COD is the biggest repetitive game and has a big following. Fortnite is one of the biggest games and it's just the same thing over and over. its a free to play game and for that its suprisingly fun to just download and play w a friend:). i sadly paid 60 euro for anthem and bought destiny w a dlc pack. the difference between these games is not that big xd
Don't pay attention to the haters. They are all in the honeymoon phase. It's overhyped, and people will start to hate it. I liked it alot, now I'm 50+ hours in, and I want all my time and effort back. At least in other grindy games I feel a sense of reward, but in this one you start to realize you get nothing. Everything is work to get a chance at something else, which you have to spend 10 of to get a 2% chance at something else. Such a waste of time. After spending 5 hours trying to get something that had a 50% drop chance, I was done. 😂👎
I started to realize it at around 60 hours. The first 40 hours were basically Story Mode Progression, upgrading gear, mods etc etc. Then you hit early endgame, get a build going and farm for 20 additional hours and realize you got fuck all for those 20 hours and made no additional progression at all. I expect reality to start to kick in a few weeks down the line and a lot of people are just going to drop the game entirely. I could be wrong, but it's pretty easy to see the writing on the wall imo.
you can get ultimates for cheaper with a few less goodies (though still expensive), or SLOWLY farm for them. As for your last point... well, thats true of any online game, including the two closest cousins of that one, destiny 2 and Warframe
its not 100. in 100 bundle you get some cosmetics like back attachement, animation, bla bla, and 2 formas and 1 energy activator. that alone cost like 40 $. there are packs with only Ultimate desc, slot and a premium skin for around 50 $. So its cheaper than packs in warframe when they release new Primes. Also it takes only few days to farm ultimate descendant. i have 65 ish H in game and already crafted ultimate glay. now trying to farm for bunny.
$60 for base ulti but yeah if it goes EOS its byebye but the game is no-1 on steam beating out destiny and warframe's all time high and concurrent as of now. They hit the sweet spot that gamers have been looking for, going from this to EOS is going to take a lot of fails because frankly there's little alternative that isn't old.
@@summer7603 they didn't hit any sweet spot, it's at the top because it's WF/Destiny but the characters aren't ugly as sin. Its competitors go out of their way to make everything look ugly. The actual farming and monetization are crazy and insane, and the game doesn't run well. Just to put things into perspective, each Catalyst (forma) requires 1h to 2h of farming to craft(Blueprint and mats), and then 8h of wait time; then, to apply it you have to level your weapon to 40, which takes another 2 hours of defense missions, and to fully mod a single weapon you need at the very least 7 formas if you keep your elemental mod lower level (which is advisable because then you're able to switch it). So you're looking at 12h x 7 for one single weapon boosters are 30%, and there's gear that gives you a bit more exp but it doesn't seem to make such a big difference, let's be really generous and say with a booster and full exp multiplier gear it takes 10h per forma, you're looking at 70h for one single fully modded weapon. And you do definitely need at least one, specific to a character. In the case of legendary weapons they come with 2 slots forma'd, but you are required to craft the weapon 5 times to level its special effect, which probably pushes that into the 100h+ area this is not counting the time it takes to farm Kuiper shards and gold to level your mods to cap I think leveling is satisfying in games, and I'm not against farming, but this is really stupid, and it's only like this because NEXON lets you pay $7 to skip 10 out of 12 of those hours by buying Catalysts. That is a clean $50 for 7 catalysts. They're not even smart enough to sell them in bundles of 3 so people would have 2 left over after each weapon, they're really just dumb and greedy, which should come as a surprise to no one.

Dude it's an MMO. The First Descendant has solid MMO RPG elements. I haven't seen an MMO that isn't like that. Bless Unleashed you had to farm stuff with horrifying drop rates, Neverwinter is like that too, Warframe and Destiny 2..

Nah, it didn't need another year to cook at all. This is exactly what they want. It's the Gaming equivalent of a Pump N' Dump. We're still in the Pump Phase, but you can be sure Nexon is going to take a giant, steaming Dump on everyone's chest in a couple of months.
Its insane that people are comparing this to warframe on a monetization scale. Theyre defending it way to hard. Ive been playing warframe since 2013 and have spent money on the game happily because of how ethical Warframe's monetization is. The First Descendants monetization is horribly predatory, and the gameplay is intended to pigeon hole you into spending money after being so frustrated at not progressing. Then if you do spend money they ensure that the currency doesnt align properly so you spend more money than you have to in order to get what you want. Classic Nexon.
Also from 2013 WF here. Don't forget that WF's pricing has new WFs at $20-25 if there weren't sporadic discounts at login as well as player trading. I don't have any faith that Nexon (of all companies) would add discounts to their games, but there is supposed to be some form of trading in the future. Looked at without discounts or trading, WF actually has the more predatory model, with ~4 day build times and only 5-8 ish Potatoes per Nightwave run. Unfortunately, I do agree that TFD's MTX are worse overall, since ignoring WF's discounts is like skipping or tabbing out of every quest in WF, then saying it has no story or interesting lore.
Played it for a couple of evenings now and yeah, it’s a cross between Destiny 2 and Warframe. Weapons: The weapon and descendent mod system is great. It’s essentially the same as Warframe’s mod system, which works really well. Being able to loot weapons from the enemies is way better than the blueprint only approach in Warframe. It’s also way more generous with its weapon and descendant slots. Unfortunately there are no melee weapons, which, for people like me, is a huge loss. You do get a slightly drunk spinning punch though. It has a cooldown but it is satisfying when you land it. Movement mechanics: World traversal feels more like Destiny, although where Destiny gives “war between factions” vibes, FD gives “sometimes there are bad guys in this otherwise deserted area” vibes. It’s just not as interesting moment to moment. The grappling hook is really cool and enables way more strategy than Destiny does. The general world traversal isn’t as smooth as Warframe though, and you can often find that you’ve messed you jump and won’t make a gap or land on a platform. Missions: To start a mission, you go to a little beacon and then you get some enemies to fight. This usually in the form of: - Kill ‘em all - Kill ‘em until the scaled up dude with a different colour name tag and health bar turns up, then kill him too - Stay in the circle - Go to and briefly stay in a bunch of circles - Keep ‘em out of the circle - Take special enemy drop to the circle - Collect up the things The missions do state how long they’ll likely take, I appreciate this feature. Descendants: I started with Ajax, a big tanky dude before I unlocked Bunny, a speedy gal ability based damage dealer. Each descendant has active skills and one passive. Some of them feel lacklustre but Bunny’s kit is really strong. Again, you can enhance them with Warframe’s excellent mod system. Like Warframe, it’s a proper slog to build a new descendant, but it is doable. Combat: Shooting feels pretty good and there are plenty of weapons from which you can pick a favourite. Not having a viable melee response to getting jumped by 5 dudes in desperate need of nail clippers is jarring, but generally your abilities can give you space to breath, which gives you ample opportunity to give the enemies new holes to breathe from. While I do die sometimes, most encounters are pretty easy. Monetisation: It’s a monstrous cash grab that tries SO hard to get you spending. The game has been parcelled out into disparate chunks in order to make it so inconvenient that you might choose to spend your way through the hurdles. Overall: Its got some really nice ideas, but the goal of the publisher / developer clearly wasn’t to make a fun and engaging game. It was to make something familiar enough that they would stick around and part with their cash.

It's nice to have a brute opinion. The game is not awful but I do agree that the game is lacking personality. I really dont like the movements, it feels like your walking inside a simulation, there is no weight or inertia in the character motion. The weapons are underwhelming and not kicking fun in my brain. But overall for a free game it's worth trying for yourself.
As a destiny 2 and fortnite player the grinding is just basic mechanics. Already have 3 characters without paying a single dime and the gunplay is good enough to pay something, but their battlepass need to offer better things. It doesn t compare at all to fortnite with nothing juicy that is worth my wallet. Will probably buy it though because with 30 hours of play I believe this game deserves the 10 dollars that it costs. Hope devs will listen and make more temping passes in the future.
My thoughts are there well over 100,000 people playing it right now on steam that being only 20% of the gaming industry mean being 20% of the gaming industry so there are probably at least another 300,000 people playing it on the consul and you know my thoughts are said it’s popular because it’s 2 AM Eastern time and then that many people playing it Thought is that you do not understand this gaming genre or 540 gaming at all the purpose of gaming is to disconnect from life have fun in a fantasy world. We literally don’t go around shooting in our day-to-day life so this is a disconnect from life it’s supposed to be fun. Take away the difficulty that they called the remains the same if you’re doing damage difficult via TV if you’re not doing damage, difficult is almost impossible. The timer on the other hand is a failure or success measure. If you don’t meet the timer, you fail and you’re getting nothing.
Well, the problems people complain about aren’t real problems. This game is like any other would be looter shooter. Yes some things could be improved on but the game is pretty fair game. The “pay to win” is not pay to win. You have the option to choose between spending a week of your time grinding the game that’s meant to be grinded on or your can spend $60 to buy a descendant. Company here is known for their horrible monetization. Hopefully that’ll change a tad bit here to be better probably not. Game feels pretty good. Could definitely use more content and variety. Other than that the games perfectly fine lol people cry to much when it’s not to their liking and then tell other people not as an opinion but as this self centered “fact” that the game is bad. Every game is bad. People compare this to Warframe and Destiny. I’ve got 18,000 hours in Destiny and 1000+ in Warframe. This game is not meant to be either. It’s almost impossible to make a successful game like those two which are looter shooters without copying Warframe and Destiny in some way lol. That’s just how the games are. They’re looter shooters. You’re gonna get the same thing everytime. And another thing is, everytime you think you have the bugs fixed. There will always be more bugs. It’s technology. The more advanced it is, the more bugs there will be. Like every game in the last 7 years. People scream and holler because they don’t understand.
This game is quite literally “up there” in quality. Compared to many others that tried. People don’t ever give things a chance. We’re in day 2 of its launch. Give it time. You don’t gotta play all the time. Looter shooters tell you to keep going but it’s not like it’s telling you to play every minute of every day. Take breaks come back. I do that in warframe
Agreed! why the hell would I waste thousands of hours grinding for the ultimate character, when i could drop $150 for Calibers and buy it outright. It's a grinding simulator with no sustenance or engagement. No wonder it free to play......lol
I really think you need to read some of the transcendent mods because supports are OP, with everything from passively healing other squad mates to buffing attack, crit rate, and movement speed. Also, debuff classes are very versatile as well with reducing armor, damage, and healing of enemies, and much more. The early game is about DPS, late game is so much easier with a well-balanced team. Sure DPS will still have its place when farming, but in boss battles, missions, and late levels of the defense missions I would rather have an Ajax than a bunny.
2300h in WF here, and... you're not really wrong. For the benefit of others reading this: Having used WF's parkour for so long, TFD's is actually more fun for me ATM, despite it being just like any other game save for the grapple hook and double jump. The guns have neat designs, but have less interesting mechanical design than WF's. TFD seems to have more interesting and viable mods than WF does. In WF usually a viable build boils down to a small handful of mods + some slight personal variation outside of changes for faction resistances. TFD lacks a real melee system, and the mods that act like WF's stance mods (but are equipped to Descendants) just change animations. The Colossi are somewhat more interesting fights than most of WF's boss fights, but don't compare to Remnant: from the Ashes (which I think is most comparable here, what with both TFD and RftA featuring multi-stage souls-esque bosses, as well as dodge rolls and guns). Ultimately, I'd recommend anyone with a decent internet connection and even a vague interest to try it out, since the game is free and only 36gb, comparable in size to Warframe. Just don't buy anything, the MTX are over the top on price.

Firstly, calling the game a 'cash grab', when it is literally free and not a single piece of meaningful content is locked behind a paywall? Interesting one there. Next, the primary materials for descendants don't need to be researched through sub-components... most of them can be farmed from dungeons and boss drops in their totality, skipping the sub-components. Also, the comment on the 'timer' for the bosses is a ridiculous take, considering that's a mechanic in most MMO's in some format. If anything, the boss being a 'dps check' makes it more team oriented, due to needing better coordination??? Lastly, why do you have an issue with needing to actually progress and farm in the game to obtain new characters? You can't factor in progressing through the story as hours needed to grind for the character... that's a very odd take considering AGAIN, that form of progression is standard in most MMOs. So many things wrong with these statements and you're just spreading needless negativity for a game that's actually decent, regardless of the publisher. It would be fine if your takes were valid, but it's just purely hating for the sake of it.

I liked the intro but then the defense missions came in open areas with no cover, enemies with perfect aim and running mobs simultaneously with a miniboss. doesn't seem like the play experience is well balanced for solo and is tuned for full teams. Which I had full teams at first , but not anymore. I'm old and don't have much time. I think I'd rather play Legacy of Kain Defiance or Descent.
I think I also don't want to live my warframe days over either. 4-5k hours sunk, everything maxed, 100+ s tier rivens on a temporary game that they devs made gay.
No those were item storage capacity he showed. Mod capacity only available through the $100 dollar packs. Which you shouldn't buy because unlocking hard mode missions will make those easier to get and really getting those are the lategame grind.
Amen... In the first descendant they make you pay for skins to change the color of your skins, but you also have to pay for the colors individually. Like what is that, and how are people okay with that. So many things about the game are greedy, and gross. 😂

Warframe has actual content This game is gonn have to take at minimum 5 years-7 years to be anywhere near warframe this game will dry out and die like anthem just wait.
God damn there are a lot of losers pretending this game isn't a 5 out of 10, the grapple physics alone took the game down two points, melee is terrible and when you get raggdolled it's like the animation was sped up awkwardly.
you actually don’t need to craft all the separate parts first, they can be collected but it still takes like 15 hours to creat the characters which is rather crazy to me. although it does give me a good excuse to stop playing for a while as i wait. i’m not sure how long i’ll stick with this game but the fact i can get the characters at all without spending money or going through a gatcha is appealing to me even if the actual gameplay could indeed use some more variety. hopefully they’ll add it at some point.
Im 106 hours in and its fun... To me it just looks like u were spoiled by AAA games. Dont forget that: -its free -many free2play games had shitty launches and got better over time -it not being ur cup of tea not meaning others cant enjoy it
Nothing you’re just that is true. Your math rank will matter, but not your character level in the game or your campaign level. Certain things require a certain math free level in order to craft maybe that’s what you meant when you said a certain level in the game, I mean there in fact many level there is weapons and gear level press and go through 100 characteror you can go up to 40 there three level which can go up to 30 and crafting is up for based on Fast three level becomes available at level 10
Call caliber credit and certainly if you’re weak given your complaints about the micro transaction if you’re lazy and weed, you can go ahead and send money and buy your descendants. That’s why they’re there is for the people that want to continue financially support nexon and next crazy matter so file means by caliber and spend it on shit in the store or simply look up the item and go farm wherever it’s located, and somewhere knows that crazy transaction
do you know during the time the descendant / weapon components craft, YOU CAN TOUCH GRASS AND COME BACK LATER, jeezus shutting your brain off is seemingly easier dont take offense now we all f up once in a while but from the 32h you spent "playing" 26 of those shouldnt be leaving your pc on in the background. oh and idk whilst the main weapon/descendant is crafting for a day or so YOU COULD GO TO WORK and there you have your time worth
I know! Warframe and Path of Exile are the only 2 that have an acceptable F2P model. The First Descendants is a great game so far, from what I've played, but $100 for an ultimate version of a single character made me close out immediately.

It literally the same pay model as warframe buy the prime(ultimate) version of that warframe(descendant) or grind to craft the prime warframe(ultimate descendant).
Free Hawks if you don’t spend money and you just play the game until while you’re tired of playing the game then you not anyway Ben or anything it’s free if you can play it free you don’t have to buy anything. I mean war frame has nearly 12 years with sex literally the exact same business model.
And you ignored that nexon literally has warframe and D2 as sources to learn how to make a looter shooter game. That's why, for a lot of people, nexon didn't deliver what people expect from a looter shooter game. I'm not talking about the amount of content here, I'm talking about gameplay wise.
The grind is a bit easier than warframe or dentiny 2 for ultimate weapons and skins except for ulti gley who is locked behind the last hard boss, someone unlocked ultimate viessa day 1 being extremely lucky and focused. The grind for getting through the difficulty isn't that high though I just beat the last hard boss but farming these hard bosses requires players to farm the enhancement crystals for weapons a bit to get that dps up to comfortably smash the boss.
Can't play it for some reason. Tried to install and run several times wouldn't get past the 96% shaders w/o crashing. I've got plenty of good games to play that don't have MTX to enjoy. Best of luck to those who can and do play it.
Wanted to do this game was created an MMO like experience and a shooter with four player instance areas for providing for the ability to play individually or collaborate or even team up and play as a party, but they wanted it to be up to you as far as those bosses go talk to each and everyone of them be done soloa team simply takes one guy in match racing to have the damage and the knowledge to get it done
This game has potential to be fun but it is loaded with issues needs massive quality of life updates translation updates and balance changes. The game is overall repetitive uninteresting and lacks diversity in game modes.

I just want you to know that your critiques* are valid. Too many people out here taking opinions on a video game personally. That's comin' from someone having fun with the game currently, and I can overlook a lot since I'm used to Warframe being the exact same way. Not that it makes the practices okay exactly.
for a free game, its actually pretty decent. few issues with it sure but it personal preferencing. i think endgame might see a massive drop off in players. alot of comparisons to warframe. for the intercept timer. its common to see boss fights have a timer/ enrage timer. the dps check doesnt exist without the skill to destroy the weakpoints of the boss in order to be able to do meaningful damage. there is no power gain you can get in the game right now that can just surpass doing the weakpoint breaks. the only waste of time in that regard if people treating it like a pure dps check and failing because thats not how you do the fight. unlocking descendents is similar and somewhat better than some games. i.e warframe which this game is very similar to imo. THAT is the grind to collect and get descendant and weapons. there being a shop is not bad at all, it give option to people who are otherwise deterred by the grind. that in itself does not give much of an advantage over somebody who farms. because your time if worth more which again, isnt bad. your opinion is not invalid but i feel youre missing alot of key things when reviewing this game for what it is and offers.

@@Zeptol79 Not really. Consider if WF didn't have player-to-player trading in its current state. They'd be pretty even, as far as monetization goes. Actually, WF would be worse, since Reactors/Cats as well as Forma are basically mandatory, and only Forma are obtainable on a regular basis. TFD actually has a healthier system for getting similar upgrade mats... if WF didn't have trading. If TFD ever added 60%+ discounts like what WF has, I think the MTX would be viewed similarly. Consider that a single Warframe is priced such that without player trading and login discounts, it would cost a minimum of $20-25 to have enough platinum to buy one. That said, Nexon (we know how *they* are) aren't likely to add discounts to one of their games, so WF will always have a better model in the end.
Trading for TFD is supposedly on the way, but we'll have to see *what* exactly can even be traded, and what other limits they'll impose.
As for grinding, it's pretty relative. There's people in WF who have had to farm for **weeks** to get Equinox, not to mention the horrific grind for Arcanes, when Flare, Energize, Augmented, as well as several others are just expected for end-game builds.

I beat the story and I think I might be done with the game. The bullet sponge dps bosses just aren't engaging enough to warrant the grind. I speak only for myself. Some people love to grind for grinds sake and for that I say you will love this game.

Gley - 3 modules take 8 hours each + making her is 16 if you can do maths that's 32 hours. Not really difficult to find out but you will get there bud :D

Also Currently 3 bosses in level 42 as bunny and tied down to waiting a full day before unlocking a character due to Mobile time mechanics.
Tis Only person I will reply to because there is a lot of type now think later but if you are level 14 then you should know that to unlock a character takes resources that time gate you.

Don't pay attention to the haters. They are all in the honeymoon phase. It's overhyped, and people will start to hate it. I liked it alot, now I'm 50+ hours in, and I want all my time and effort back. At least in other grindy games I feel a sense of reward, but in this one you start to realize you get nothing. Everything is work to get a chance at something else, which you have to spend 10 of to get a 2% chance at something else. Such a waste of time. After spending 5 hours trying to get something that had a 50% drop chance, I was done. 😂👎
I started to realize it at around 60 hours. The first 40 hours were basically Story Mode Progression, upgrading gear, mods etc etc. Then you hit early endgame, get a build going and farm for 20 additional hours and realize you got fuck all for those 20 hours and made no additional progression at all. I expect reality to start to kick in a few weeks down the line and a lot of people are just going to drop the game entirely. I could be wrong, but it's pretty easy to see the writing on the wall imo.

you can get ultimates for cheaper with a few less goodies (though still expensive), or SLOWLY farm for them. As for your last point... well, thats true of any online game, including the two closest cousins of that one, destiny 2 and Warframe
its not 100. in 100 bundle you get some cosmetics like back attachement, animation, bla bla, and 2 formas and 1 energy activator. that alone cost like 40 $.
there are packs with only Ultimate desc, slot and a premium skin for around 50 $. So its cheaper than packs in warframe when they release new Primes.
Also it takes only few days to farm ultimate descendant. i have 65 ish H in game and already crafted ultimate glay. now trying to farm for bunny.

$60 for base ulti but yeah if it goes EOS its byebye but the game is no-1 on steam beating out destiny and warframe's all time high and concurrent as of now. They hit the sweet spot that gamers have been looking for, going from this to EOS is going to take a lot of fails because frankly there's little alternative that isn't old.
@@summer7603 they didn't hit any sweet spot, it's at the top because it's WF/Destiny but the characters aren't ugly as sin. Its competitors go out of their way to make everything look ugly.
The actual farming and monetization are crazy and insane, and the game doesn't run well.
Just to put things into perspective, each Catalyst (forma) requires 1h to 2h of farming to craft(Blueprint and mats), and then 8h of wait time; then, to apply it you have to level your weapon to 40, which takes another 2 hours of defense missions, and to fully mod a single weapon you need at the very least 7 formas if you keep your elemental mod lower level (which is advisable because then you're able to switch it).
So you're looking at 12h x 7 for one single weapon
boosters are 30%, and there's gear that gives you a bit more exp but it doesn't seem to make such a big difference, let's be really generous and say with a booster and full exp multiplier gear it takes 10h per forma, you're looking at 70h for one single fully modded weapon. And you do definitely need at least one, specific to a character.
In the case of legendary weapons they come with 2 slots forma'd, but you are required to craft the weapon 5 times to level its special effect, which probably pushes that into the 100h+ area
this is not counting the time it takes to farm Kuiper shards and gold to level your mods to cap
I think leveling is satisfying in games, and I'm not against farming, but this is really stupid, and it's only like this because NEXON lets you pay $7 to skip 10 out of 12 of those hours by buying Catalysts. That is a clean $50 for 7 catalysts.
They're not even smart enough to sell them in bundles of 3 so people would have 2 left over after each weapon, they're really just dumb and greedy, which should come as a surprise to no one.

Nah, it didn't need another year to cook at all. This is exactly what they want. It's the Gaming equivalent of a Pump N' Dump. We're still in the Pump Phase, but you can be sure Nexon is going to take a giant, steaming Dump on everyone's chest in a couple of months.
Its insane that people are comparing this to warframe on a monetization scale. Theyre defending it way to hard. Ive been playing warframe since 2013 and have spent money on the game happily because of how ethical Warframe's monetization is. The First Descendants monetization is horribly predatory, and the gameplay is intended to pigeon hole you into spending money after being so frustrated at not progressing. Then if you do spend money they ensure that the currency doesnt align properly so you spend more money than you have to in order to get what you want. Classic Nexon.

Don't forget that WF's pricing has new WFs at $20-25 if there weren't sporadic discounts at login as well as player trading. I don't have any faith that Nexon (of all companies) would add discounts to their games, but there is supposed to be some form of trading in the future. Looked at without discounts or trading, WF actually has the more predatory model, with ~4 day build times and only 5-8 ish Potatoes per Nightwave run.
Unfortunately, I do agree that TFD's MTX are worse overall, since ignoring WF's discounts is like skipping or tabbing out of every quest in WF, then saying it has no story or interesting lore.

Played it for a couple of evenings now and yeah, it’s a cross between Destiny 2 and Warframe.
Weapons:
The weapon and descendent mod system is great. It’s essentially the same as Warframe’s mod system, which works really well.
Being able to loot weapons from the enemies is way better than the blueprint only approach in Warframe.
It’s also way more generous with its weapon and descendant slots.
Unfortunately there are no melee weapons, which, for people like me, is a huge loss.
You do get a slightly drunk spinning punch though. It has a cooldown but it is satisfying when you land it.
Movement mechanics:
World traversal feels more like Destiny, although where Destiny gives “war between factions” vibes, FD gives “sometimes there are bad guys in this otherwise deserted area” vibes. It’s just not as interesting moment to moment.
The grappling hook is really cool and enables way more strategy than Destiny does.
The general world traversal isn’t as smooth as Warframe though, and you can often find that you’ve messed you jump and won’t make a gap or land on a platform.
Missions:
To start a mission, you go to a little beacon and then you get some enemies to fight. This usually in the form of:
- Kill ‘em all
- Kill ‘em until the scaled up dude with a different colour name tag and health bar turns up, then kill him too
- Stay in the circle
- Go to and briefly stay in a bunch of circles
- Keep ‘em out of the circle
- Take special enemy drop to the circle
- Collect up the things
The missions do state how long they’ll likely take, I appreciate this feature.
Descendants:
I started with Ajax, a big tanky dude before I unlocked Bunny, a speedy gal ability based damage dealer.
Each descendant has active skills and one passive. Some of them feel lacklustre but Bunny’s kit is really strong.
Again, you can enhance them with Warframe’s excellent mod system.
Like Warframe, it’s a proper slog to build a new descendant, but it is doable.
Combat:
Shooting feels pretty good and there are plenty of weapons from which you can pick a favourite.
Not having a viable melee response to getting jumped by 5 dudes in desperate need of nail clippers is jarring, but generally your abilities can give you space to breath, which gives you ample opportunity to give the enemies new holes to breathe from.
While I do die sometimes, most encounters are pretty easy.
Monetisation:
It’s a monstrous cash grab that tries SO hard to get you spending.
The game has been parcelled out into disparate chunks in order to make it so inconvenient that you might choose to spend your way through the hurdles.
Overall:
Its got some really nice ideas, but the goal of the publisher / developer clearly wasn’t to make a fun and engaging game. It was to make something familiar enough that they would stick around and part with their cash.

It's nice to have a brute opinion. The game is not awful but I do agree that the game is lacking personality. I really dont like the movements, it feels like your walking inside a simulation, there is no weight or inertia in the character motion. The weapons are underwhelming and not kicking fun in my brain. But overall for a free game it's worth trying for yourself.
As a destiny 2 and fortnite player the grinding is just basic mechanics. Already have 3 characters without paying a single dime and the gunplay is good enough to pay something, but their battlepass need to offer better things. It doesn t compare at all to fortnite with nothing juicy that is worth my wallet. Will probably buy it though because with 30 hours of play I believe this game deserves the 10 dollars that it costs. Hope devs will listen and make more temping passes in the future.

Take away the difficulty that they called the remains the same if you’re doing damage difficult via TV if you’re not doing damage, difficult is almost impossible. The timer on the other hand is a failure or success measure. If you don’t meet the timer, you fail and you’re getting nothing.
Well, the problems people complain about aren’t real problems. This game is like any other would be looter shooter. Yes some things could be improved on but the game is pretty fair game. The “pay to win” is not pay to win. You have the option to choose between spending a week of your time grinding the game that’s meant to be grinded on or your can spend $60 to buy a descendant. I really think you need to read some of the transcendent mods because supports are OP, with everything from passively healing other squad mates to buffing attack, crit rate, and movement speed. Also, debuff classes are very versatile as well with reducing armor, damage, and healing of enemies, and much more. The early game is about DPS, late game is so much easier with a well-balanced team. Sure DPS will still have its place when farming, but in boss battles, missions, and late levels of the defense missions I would rather have an Ajax than a bunny.
im going to be honest here, this is a worst warframe in every single aspect except how sexy the characters look.
2300h in WF here, and... you're not really wrong.
For the benefit of others reading this:
Having used WF's parkour for so long, TFD's is actually more fun for me ATM, despite it being just like any other game save for the grapple hook and double jump.
The guns have neat designs, but have less interesting mechanical design than WF's.
TFD seems to have more interesting and viable mods than WF does. In WF usually a viable build boils down to a small handful of mods + some slight personal variation outside of changes for faction resistances.
TFD lacks a real melee system, and the mods that act like WF's stance mods (but are equipped to Descendants) just change animations.
The Colossi are somewhat more interesting fights than most of WF's boss fights, but don't compare to Remnant: from the Ashes (which I think is most comparable here, what with both TFD and RftA featuring multi-stage souls-esque bosses, as well as dodge rolls and guns).
Ultimately, I'd recommend anyone with a decent internet connection and even a vague interest to try it out, since the game is free and only 36gb, comparable in size to Warframe. Just don't buy anything, the MTX are over the top on price.

Firstly, calling the game a 'cash grab', when it is literally free and not a single piece of meaningful content is locked behind a paywall? Interesting one there.
Next, the primary materials for descendants don't need to be researched through sub-components... most of them can be farmed from dungeons and boss drops in their totality, skipping the sub-components. Also, the comment on the 'timer' for the bosses is a ridiculous take, considering that's a mechanic in most MMO's in some format. If anything, the boss being a 'dps check' makes it more team oriented, due to needing better coordination??? Lastly, why do you have an issue with needing to actually progress and farm in the game to obtain new characters? You can't factor in progressing through the story as hours needed to grind for the character... that's a very odd take considering AGAIN, that form of progression is standard in most MMOs. So many things wrong with these statements and you're just spreading needless negativity for a game that's actually decent, regardless of the publisher. It would be fine if your takes were valid, but it's just purely hating for the sake of it.

I liked the intro but then the defense missions came in open areas with no cover, enemies with perfect aim and running mobs simultaneously with a miniboss. doesn't seem like the play experience is well balanced for solo and is tuned for full teams. Which I had full teams at first , but not anymore. I'm old and don't have much time. I think I'd rather play Legacy of Kain Defiance or Descent.
I think I also don't want to live my warframe days over either. 4-5k hours sunk, everything maxed, 100+ s tier rivens on a temporary game that they devs made gay.
i migrated to warframe, when the problems in TFD were just too much to hide from.
Coming from Warframe, i found that spending 20 bucks for upping the mod capacity of stuff insane.
I haven't gotten that far yet, but supposedly you can just craft those later on.
No those were item storage capacity he showed. Mod capacity only available through the $100 dollar packs. Which you shouldn't buy because unlocking hard mode missions will make those easier to get and really getting those are the lategame grind.
Greedy monetization will kill off the player base. Warframe provides a better experience for a f2p player.
Amen... In the first descendant they make you pay for skins to change the color of your skins, but you also have to pay for the colors individually. Like what is that, and how are people okay with that. So many things about the game are greedy, and gross. 😂
It's a south korean game. Monetization is only gonna get worse and worse like any other korean game

God damn there are a lot of losers pretending this game isn't a 5 out of 10, the grapple physics alone took the game down two points, melee is terrible and when you get raggdolled it's like the animation was sped up awkwardly.
you actually don’t need to craft all the separate parts first, they can be collected but it still takes like 15 hours to creat the characters which is rather crazy to me.
although it does give me a good excuse to stop playing for a while as i wait.
i’m not sure how long i’ll stick with this game but the fact i can get the characters at all without spending money or going through a gatcha is appealing to me even if the actual gameplay could indeed use some more variety. hopefully they’ll add it at some point.

Nothing you’re just that is true. Your math rank will matter, but not your character level in the game or your campaign level. Certain things require a certain math free level in order to craft maybe that’s what you meant when you said a certain level in the game, I mean there in fact many level there is weapons and gear level press and go through 100 characteror you can go up to 40 there three level which can go up to 30 and crafting is up for based on Fast three level becomes available at level 10

That’s why they’re there is for the people that want to continue financially support nexon and next crazy matter so file means by caliber and spend it on shit in the store or simply look up the item and go farm wherever it’s located, and somewhere knows that crazy transaction
do you know during the time the descendant / weapon components craft, YOU CAN TOUCH GRASS AND COME BACK LATER, jeezus shutting your brain off is seemingly easier dont take offense now we all f up once in a while but from the 32h you spent "playing" 26 of those shouldnt be leaving your pc on in the background. oh and idk whilst the main weapon/descendant is crafting for a day or so YOU COULD GO TO WORK and there you have your time worth

I know! Warframe and Path of Exile are the only 2 that have an acceptable F2P model. The First Descendants is a great game so far, from what I've played, but $100 for an ultimate version of a single character made me close out immediately.

It literally the same pay model as warframe buy the prime(ultimate) version of that warframe(descendant) or grind to craft the prime warframe(ultimate descendant).

The grind is a bit easier than warframe or dentiny 2 for ultimate weapons and skins except for ulti gley who is locked behind the last hard boss, someone unlocked ultimate viessa day 1 being extremely lucky and focused. The grind for getting through the difficulty isn't that high though I just beat the last hard boss but farming these hard bosses requires players to farm the enhancement crystals for weapons a bit to get that dps up to comfortably smash the boss.

300h in this game and 75% of items get. And 8 ult weapons lvl 4 4 max build ult frames.
Can't play it for some reason. Tried to install and run several times wouldn't get past the 96% shaders w/o crashing. I've got plenty of good games to play that don't have MTX to enjoy. Best of luck to those who can and do play it.

Wanted to do this game was created an MMO like experience and a shooter with four player instance areas for providing for the ability to play individually or collaborate or even team up and play as a party, but they wanted it to be up to you as far as those bosses go talk to each and everyone of them be done soloa team simply takes one guy in match racing to have the damage and the knowledge to get it done
This game has potential to be fun but it is loaded with issues needs massive quality of life updates translation updates and balance changes. The game is overall repetitive uninteresting and lacks diversity in game modes.
Can refer all goes at the same time right and then research the character do I have to do them separately? They’re not done or I’ll either. They’re not done not consecutively. If you start five research request at once their time is all calm down obviously, you have to get all of the parts before you research the character just like in warfare I mean, exactly like warfare, but why do you care about how much time it takes you can go do other things you don’t have to stand there and watch it down and go to bed and come back the next day and shit will be done

That's comin' from someone having fun with the game currently, and I can overlook a lot since I'm used to Warframe being the exact same way. Not that it makes the practices okay exactly.
for a free game, its actually pretty decent. few issues with it sure but it personal preferencing.
i think endgame might see a massive drop off in players. alot of comparisons to warframe.
for the intercept timer. its common to see boss fights have a timer/ enrage timer.
the dps check doesnt exist without the skill to destroy the weakpoints of the boss in order to be able to do meaningful damage. there is no power gain you can get in the game right now that can just surpass doing the weakpoint breaks. the only waste of time in that regard if people treating it like a pure dps check and failing because thats not how you do the fight.
unlocking descendents is similar and somewhat better than some games. i.e warframe which this game is very similar to imo. THAT is the grind to collect and get descendant and weapons.
there being a shop is not bad at all, it give option to people who are otherwise deterred by the grind. that in itself does not give much of an advantage over somebody who farms. because your time if worth more which again, isnt bad.
your opinion is not invalid but i feel youre missing alot of key things when reviewing this game for what it is and offers.

I have played this Game about 100 hours and i asked me why im doing a Game with No deep or good gameplay. Really every Quest is on a other map the Same and damed easy that every idiot dont need brain. Mainly the character are looks sexy like. Every knows why you see bunny and other Woman character the most the time.

Man says suffers from Unreal 5 systems, as if engine had anything to do with game systems design, like there aren't tens or hundreds of games made on U5 from different genres, art style and systems. Then goes into complaining that looter shooter requires grinding Jesus. Yes this game have issues, yes there is a lot of them, no you didn't list any of them.
I like the fast paced action, reminds me of Warframe or Vanquish but after playing for about 2 hs it all feels the same, the only thing that exites me is trying to get new wepons and skins the gameplay became dull quite fast
