I am 61 years old and have never touched a keyboard before but always wanted to. Got a 61 keyboard for Christmas this year. I searched the internet forever and you are the best at teaching a person that knows no music. I am doing really well and quite proud of myself. One more thing, you are a very lucking man to have a wife that helps you so much in making these tutorials for us. Thank you very much from the capital city of Canada. No not Montreal or Toronto as many would guess but Ottawa, Ontario.
You are welcome. Glad to hear you're doing so well playing the keyboard in Ottawa :) Happy New Year :) Keep up the good work. Be glad to answer any keyboard questions you have :)
I almost never comment on someon's posts, but i've been playing piano for years and never learned to read music... you probably wont read this, the video is like 8 years old, but it is so helpfull to find a video at the perfect pace and with lit up keys xD. I mean it, the keys being lit up and lettered meant the world to me while learning to play. God bless you and your music.
Hi, I'm from India with scarce resources for western classical training. Your tutorial gives me inspiration and confidence that one day I shall be able to play this epic. Thanks for sharing.
I know you can do it. There is no quicker way to learn a song than by using the letter notes. Practice it hands separately slowly, then put them together - you'll be playing both sections very soon :)
I love how you make Beethoven come back to life when you say "he" and "him" it made me smile while playing along. Great video, didn't expect you to involve both hands so quickly! I like it!
wow this video is the best tutorial there is on youtube for fur elise!!....you paced it just right...i can pause and see which notes to hit and youve got those red color lit up keys too makes learning so smooth and easy....i really owe you one....i'm a complete beginner and have just started learning a couple of songs from Yt...cant afford a one-on-one teacher yet....tks a million....i'm really grateful to you sir!
Has to be the best one I have found so far. I leanred this about three years ago, but we had to sell my piano, I just got a keyboard, and am re-learning everything. This really helped thanks! I am going on to re-learn the rest.
okay started doing this one , been practicing the first to lines over and over again.. i get to all the E's and I mess it up but i will get there , once I get the first to lines , I will show you a small recording...
Thanks a lot! I start to play keyboard for two days and now I can play "Für Elise" with your help! I am so happy and thankful :-) I can not read notes, but I put stickers with notes on my keyboard, to learn them :-) The last part are a little dificult for me and I don't have the good rhythm, but I try and try.
practised my ass off on this bit and am quite comfortable with it....now have moved on to your other video that shows how to play the whole piece and making decent progress...you are really cool sir!....im very grateful to you
THANK U . UR A BEAST omg i learned a hell of songs from u xD 1. canon in d by johan pachobel 2. fur elise By bethooven 3. moonlight soontana 50% learned of it THANKS MAAN ur opening a big door called Future for me
This song is so beautiful. I love and that is why I want to play it. I have my own keyboard so I can play it. Pretty soon I'll be a 9 year old playing a Beethoven song! ~ Thank you
Thanks :) Made my day - that's the reason I do all of this:) Helping one person play something they want to play makes it all worthwhile - especially seeing little hands on such a big keyboard does my heart good:) Thanks for sharing :)
Neat feeling when you can say that!! I'm glad you have reached that milestone. Keep working --> I have lots more videos and info listed on my LetterNotePlayer website. If you don't see something that you are wanting to play ---> just write and ask me, OK??
Can’t follow other tutorials that easily. I have a piano but never played. YOUR videos and only YOUR videos have taught me the piano. Although I still don’t know how to read sheet music I can play multiple songs just due to your wonderful videos. Thank you buddy!
Happy to hear that! I had a theory teacher in college who always said, "In the final analysis, it's the sound that counts." I read music fluently ... it is a phenomenal tool, but usually there is no quicker way to learn to play a song quickly and accurately than by using the letter notes. So glad that you are playing well:) Keep it up :)
A few days ago, before my keyboard came,i was like-pff chill bro is it really THAT hard?? Now that Im Playing This....Well I relate to you on a really DEEP level my friend,i suck.
Thanks a lot for this lovely and beautifully explained song on the synthesizer. I can actually understand every note you play. You've made it very easy for beginners to understand such a complex song 👍🏻
In my city, there's a public art installation called "Keys to the Streets" which is a bunch of public pianos in different locations. I never had piano lessons but I watched your video and I was able to play the first part okay so thank you!
You're teaching makes it so easy! I look at different tutorials and it just confuses me but you show letters on the acctual keys which makes me see clearer!! :o THANKS so much for the vid's
I do so appreciate learning your way... I have learned many songs. My only problem is that it is the only way I can play music. I wish there was a way from your Technic to transfer over to sheet music, everything I have I rely on my memory and once thats gone I dont know what I will do.. You are the greatest to me. I wouldnt be here now on one of my 3 pianos if it were not for you. Thank you Mr. Nelson.
So glad you are playing and benefitting from LNP. Letter Notes will speed up the learning process even if you read music notation fluently. For Fur Elise the music notation is available and you could practice reading off the letters and then off of the music notation. Letter Notes do serve to trigger the memory and help you see the harmonic progressions :)
i am only 9 years and i dont know how to strech my hands so long so tell me if u have an alternative way but very good tutorial could do with a bit more explaining : )
Foxey girl 101 Learn the easier version by Hoffman academy. His level one tutorial is pretty easy. Just search "Hoffman academy fur elise level 1 tutorial" and it will come up first result.
this really helped me because i knew the first part but not the others and its my moms dream to play fur elise and i wanted to make that possible thx for the tutorial
Took me like an hour and a half but I think I've got it. Thanks! This is the best tutorial I've found for anything ever... off to the second part... =\
Thank you SO much for your easy to read letter note sheets and the tutorials! Best resource I’ve found yet on the internet for an adult beginner such as myself. Thanks from Brisbane Australia 🤗
A little tip for those just now trying it. When doing the e d do it five times end on the e for the fifth time and then play through it. It's how I remember.
Sorry :-( Try clicking on the settings button (looks like a little gear), then click on '.5' - that'll slow it down to 50% speed, keeping the pitches the same. My voice'll sound strange, but you can see it & hear it at a much slower speed. It also helps to download the letter notes from the website :)
Tq for this now i know the proper notes ! Before his m i search from google and the left note were C E A . But when i try this one , it fits more with the example that i heard . Thanks to you I can now play this when I have orchestra in the future 🥰
Hello John Nelson, They make really good, honest, respect that they can explain it as well. I'm only one not put on. Maybe they can, so I hope you can help me. Love greetings Sophia
I'm still working on learning this and had a question and request. My question is do you use a peddle when playing and my request is would you please teach when to press /hold/release peddle during this song? I watched another tutorial on this song, but it wasn't at all as comprehensible as your method, especially for beginners. However, he did use a peddle to make sound more intense and would say peddle when using. Thanks.
Melinda Robbins I don't use a pedal on the keyboard - but there is an electric sustain pedal you can buy and it will plug into most keyboards. On the regular piano, I do use a pedal occasionally. Whenever I use a pedal, I use it immediately after a bass note is played - to establish a chord / harmony. As soon as the piece moves to another chord, I lift the pedal, then push it down again after the bass note. So ... in Fur Elise, I use the pedal immediately after the first A in the LH. I lift it momentarily must before the first low E, then press it back down as soon as the low E is played. I always lift it during the E D# E D# segment. As a rule, use the pedal immediately after the harmony is established; lift quickly when the chord changes, then immediately push the pedal back down. Never sustain it through a harmonic change ... unless it is for an unusual special cacophanous effect (harmonic blending with multiple tonalities).
