Divorce is like death.you just learn to live with it. I went through it many years ago, and it is a permanent scar on me. I stayed drunk and periods of homelessness for 5 years.
I would really like to discuss this with you. I've been in a broken marriage for nearly 20 years. We live in the same house but basically have separate lives. She pushed me aside and put up a wall when I said I was diagnosed with depression. She wanted nothing to do with it and to this day NEVER ONCE asked how to help, offer to do anything or what she could do. Better or worse? Yeah, right. I basically left the "marriage" years ago. I consider myself separated and essentially divorced except for the paperwork and legal BS. Life in this house is toxic. We do not communicate, live in separate rooms and live our own lives. When I am in the right mind frame I do not have the funds (its expensive!). When I have the funds, I'm not in the right mindframe... Logistics and finances are an issue. I just want to live my own life. There is nothing here for me.
Not "what could I have done differently to prevent this pain", but "when did I overlook the fact that she was the person she apparently is", because the stories my kids tell me paints her completely differently than how I saw her.
Just to be clear though I went through therapy & have been dating a woman for over 2 years now, but I worry that I will be blind again & my family could be hurt by it.
This will sound like a non serious answer. My buddy dragged me to a strip club, and I found it helpful. Rent physical contact from someone who doesn't care. Some of the good ones will know how to sell unconditional positive regard, and can listen without the vitriol of a counselor. She doesn't judge, she doesn't micromanage your apartment or tell you to spend less time at the office. ❤

I suggest massage as well.
@Sarahdawncoaching that is even better, as you've suggested before.
Thanks Sarah!
