I heard a dancing coach said that verbal explanation of dancing can oftentimes confuse students, sometimes the better way is just make the moves and they follow the moves.

@Henry Tan Demonstration in dancing is always good.. although different students may learn differently. Some like to feel the movement, some like to see it... etc.

@@DanceInsanity ,we've learned it at our dance school. Our teacher showed us follow&leader steps separately, but it was hard to understand how it should look like in couple. Due to COVID she's not allowed to show it with somebody from students. I've searched for a video on youtube and couldn't find a good one, so I've thought to ask you.

is this exclusively american style CC ... is any of this allowed in international CC? WDSF has a step called Cross Basic (is that same as cross body lead) .... but international doesn't usually have so much hand switch movements .... let me know....

Hi StuckIn Room! good question! This answer is in regards to patterns, not technique (which is a different matter). if you're doing syllabus competition figures, the half moon wouldn't be acceptably (by most people's standards) in Int. Latin, but if its social dancing, or Open Gold, than the sky is the limit. it's good to keep in mind that any step that can been done in American can be executed in International and vice versa. it adds to the arsenal of steps. (but if you're doing syllabus tests or - bronze - silver - gold- competitions, then you have to stick to what's available, pattern wise, in each style and level). the cross body lead is not the same as a cross basic, since the follower doesn't really "cross" the leader so much. really cross body lead is interchangeable with Open Hip Twist in many situations. hope that helps! Tytus
