There are narco ballads? That's fascinating, I had no idea. I'm a fan of Czeslaw Milosz. Robert Hass, a favorite poet of mine, was my gateway drug to appreciating him. I'd read about their collaboration, and Milosz’s time at Berkeley, before reading any of Milosz’s poems, so I was kinda primed to take him in.
Narcocorrido- interesting! I loved Braiding Sweetgrass. I listened to it on Audible. When my bookstore had their 50% off hardcover sale, I grabbed it. I hope you enjoy it. You always, always make me laugh. 😊 Great video.
I had hoped to read Braiding Sweetgrass in November for non-fiction and indigenous reads but am running out of time. Looking forward to it though as part of the Read What You Own challenge
Good day, James. Glad your phone survived gravity. I think The Captive Mind and his poetry are better places to begin with Milosz. I'm glad I'm not interested in book prize finalists and winners. I don't think it's worth reading books I won't enjoy. Maybe one year I'd subject myself to it and approach the ordeal like penance.
Some part of me will always want to try the Nobel winners, especially if I've never heard of them. The last three have been trying my patience. Gurnah was the most recent good one, IMO
Braiding Sweetgrass is wonderful ❤

Narco ballads were a big thing. The Mexican supergroup Los Tigress del Norte had their first big hit with one.

Thanks so much, Floss!

Well done. I think its spine width that should even out, not quantity. Happy scarfenber!
Good thinking, Christopher

Whitman's incoming. Narcos is outgoing. If you want the narco book ,say the word and I'll mail it to you
@JamesRuchala Thanks, James. I'm good (I was just teasing, a bit) ☺
