Tip: that angle can be milled in the X Direction from right to left (basically from bottom to top) stepping in the Y+ direction. It leaves a better finish and its probably faster as well. :)

I would like to be able to machine square plates close to the maximum X/Y work envelope or a bit larger (with multiple setups). Is SMW planning to make a much larger fixture plate compatible with the 2" hole pattern?
@@Kitsyfluff the SMW website doesn't list the special fixture plate langmuir just added to the MR1 configurator. One would assume that langmuir and SMW have been in recent communication.
Can the tool not cut both ways? It seems like a huge waste of time to not be able to cut both ways. I know very little about CNC machines, Im just wondering.
I believe it has just interchangeable collet system if they came out with a bt30 spindle for it then Maybee I suppose. You could run a fly cutter though

It’s called climb cutting. It depends upon the material hardness and tool type.

you should ask SMW about that, not Langmuir
SMW already offers custom fixture plates, so I'm sure they would work with you.

yes but this helps with maintaining tool wear, tolerances and finish
a few extra minutes doesnt hurt on a machine like this

We will be releasing our own custom indexable face mills with 1/2" shank that can be used on MR-1 for aluminum and steel.
