    I understand why you would want to change these features, and many will probably agree with you, but I would not consider any of them flaws. I wouldn't change any of them.
    Proprietary charger: Magnetic chargers are used to help reliably maintain water-resistant/waterproof ratings. While convenient to have usb-c, every usb-c flashlight I've owned has some flimsy rubber stopper to protect it. They always eventually break off, leaving the light suseptible to water damage.
    UV Light: This can have several uses that may be handy for some people (i.e. verifying water marks on bills).
    Laser pointer: I'll admit I have little use for it these days, but i would have loved to have this when I was a PM on a construction site. The laser is strong enough to clearly point to details on high structures.
    It may not be the perfect light for your needs, but it's a great light that suits the needs of many.

      Yes, I totally get what you’re saying. Thanks for your feedback too! Personally, I just value USB-C charging over a higher waterproof rating.
      I think the majority of people would not find a green laser and a UV light very handy, but there are absolutely some who would find both very useful… mechanics, construction, quality control, and HVAC workers for instance.
      Hopefully this video can just provide some feedback and help people make an informed decision.

      Ironically the new Olight O-clip has usb-c but instead of the rubber flap it's a nice tiny solid door.

    I hate adding ports to lights. It's one more point of failure, both for water intrusion and the port itself. USB-C ports are easy to damage and if the port fails, you're worse off than if you lose the magnetic charging cable.

      Thanks…That is a valid point for sure. I’ve personally not had issues with my usb-c flashlight ports. It would be an interesting poll to see who would prefer magnetic over usb-c. 🧐

    I'd agree with those points.
    Regarding the emitters point, the Olight Arkflex has two white LEDs side by side, in that form factor. However it doesn't seem to get much brighter for it.

    • @Tried-n-True
      @Tried-n-True  2 дні тому

      @JamieSeddon Yeah, but the Arkflex is even less bright than the Arkfeld Pro. I think they need to work on the emitters and the lens technology there and get the candela way higher.

      What’s crazy is my Aplos L02, which costs less than $20, has two side by side white light emitters and it’s got a better beam throw than the Arkfeld! If they can do that for a sub $20 light then surely Olight can make a brighter/better light for over $100.

    Your first suggestion is to trim the fat? Then just buy a different flashlight.

      Unfortunately, the only other “flat” option from Olight with just two white emitters is the Arkflex… but it’s 1000 lumen and 1300 candela, which is less than the Arkfeld Pro’s 1900 lumens & 2,608 candela. So I would personally prefer something like an Arkfeld Pro with just two white emitters and higher white light performance.

    You bought a light you knew had a UV light and a green laser and then whine about it having a UV light and green laser. If you didn't need those things then don't buy this light. Olight has plenty of options if all you want is a USB-C rechargeable bright white light.

      Not at all. You might’ve missed where I said it’s actually one of my favorite lights that I own. The goal for the video is to provide feedback and point out what I consider as room for improvement. Being the form factor that it is, and it performing decently, I still very much like this light. 👍🏻

    I don't have either light but that was sort of my thinking and is the reason I never got one. I don't really need a laser except to play around with a cat. And the UV, maybe once in a blue moon. I like the idea of two white leds. Also the magnet charger is very backwards. Sort of reminds me of the flip phones from over 20 years ago that all had their own connector for the charger.

      They do have the “Arkflex” with two white emitters but it’s a different button and the brightness is even less than the single light emitter from the Arkfeld Pro.

    I don't know anything about the specs, but I would imagine that adding a USB-C port would adversely affect the light's water resistance.

    • @Tried-n-True
      @Tried-n-True  День тому +2

      Yeah, a USB-C cover would be slightly less durable when it comes to water resistance. However, I don’t think water resistance is the top priority for most when it comes to flashlights. Personally, I would rather have the convenience of being able to charge USB-C over a higher waterproof rating.

      @nickdibart День тому +1

      @@Tried-n-True Yea, that's what I wasn't sure of. I didn't know if the water rating was a selling point or just an added convenience. I agree that USB-C is the better option. The charge time would be considerably shorter that way also.

    Why not keep the laser and replace the UV with red/green combo but oh well I’ll just buy a new one if they ever release this as I’m a new owner of an Olight now 😊

    The whole reason I bought the Arkfeld was the light/green laser combo. I didn’t get the light with the uv because that wouldn’t be useful to me. If you didn’t want the green laser or the UV light, why did you get a flashlight that had them?

    • @Tried-n-True

      Because I wanted to try the light out and I love flat edc lights. I actually do love the light, as I stated, but I think a better version could exist 👍🏻

    So what you're saying is, this torch is not for you, and you should buy a different model
    It's like living in the mountains and buying a sports car, then suggesting to the company that their car would be much better if it was higher off the ground with softer suspension, more seats and a four wheel drive.
    Just buy a damn jeep

    So your flaws on the light were just your own use case, for which there are lights that fit the bill.. You just don’t like paying the price😅😂
    And you just said the less things on the device means better reliability and the next thing you said was that you want a USB port on that thing?

      I love the light, but I do think a better version could exist. 👍🏻 What’s your favorite flat EDC light?
