This tool is ESSENTIAL for your toolkit

One of my favorite tools is the Starrett 18A automatic center punch. I consider this tool to be ESSENTIAL to anyone's toolkit! Made in America, Starrett has been producing high quality tools since 1880. #triednandtruereview #tools
Interesting. That looks exactly like the Craftsman center punch I bought about 50 years ago and still use. I wonder if Starrett made them for Craftsman.
It’s possible I guess… would love to know!
Can u sling this?
Oh yeah for sure. I do sometimes… just loosen up the strap. It would kind of depend on the size of person I guess.
Thank you. I got mine 2 days ago. Anything made by Starrett is special. This was affordable too.
I totally agree!
At only 125 a piece 😂😂what a bargain I have been using these brand new cans for 5 years 😂😂😂
Yeah, it turns out if you take good care of your stuff, it lasts a long time. Also, if you get a good tool, it ends up being cheaper in the long run because it lasts a super long time and does a better job.
Whats the filter even do besides splash back at you?
@@ThatWhoCares Well, it doesn’t splash back at all. But it does help to protect against junk falling into your gas. Sometimes people fill their gas cans up with less than well maintained containers that could have rust flakes or bugs in them.
Great review man! My Gen 1 band never had elastic Tourniquet band. It also never came with the elastic muzzle band. I have the gen 2 now so I’ll be doing a comparison soon! 👊🏽
@@ChasingFloridaa Nice! I’ll be looking out for your video 👊🏻
Another good one Tyler! I’m also a little hesitant of fanny packs…
@@WatchmanRiver lol Man up! It’s an excellent way to carry. 😎

I'm confuse 😕 all white people wear are skinny jeans.
If your truck bed looks like this…. Let’s see your best “fill in the blank” below.! #manstuff #trucks #triedandtrue
No idea how your video came up, but I'm glad it did. Was a nice review, simple, to the point and good audio/ visual. I like the tip about the bluing agent too. At about $100aud, it's a stretch for something I won't use much, but I'll put some money aside bit by bit.
Thank you very much!
Also makes a great automobile window eliminator if you are into that kind of activity.
Yeah, I suppose it might. I’ve never tried that.
Hello, We use these in our Tow Trucks. If you push the centre punch on a toughened peice of glass it will shatter straight away. Emergency use Only . when the door wont open or you need to get in to rescue an overheated child or pet. DO NOT TRY THIS unless you want the peice of glass to no longer exsist. Regards Peter W. Australia.
Oh, that’s very cool! I’m glad to learn another use case for the tool. Thanks 👍🏻
I've had one since 1976. Still use it all the time.
That's awesome! That's a testimony to its quality for sure.
@@Tried-n-True there are places you need to drill a hole, but have no room to swing a hammer to hit a center punch. Cool tool.
@ 100% True
What kind of tape is that on the handle
It's gaffer tape in army green camo from GafferPower.com 👍🏻 I like it for adding extra grip to knife handles.
Don’t have their auto punch but any other tools I have of starret’s are well made and worth the money.
It's crazy useful... I also love the larger sized auto punch model 18C for heavier gauge metal or larger sized drill bits. 👍🏻
Lol I said “3PM CV” 😂… it’s “cpm 3V”
Looks like an awesome tool, & I’ve been looking for a better center punch. One thing though, Starrett finally sold out to foreign interests this last year.. an old timer on YT made a sad grumpy video about it. Haha Hopefully their quality is maintained, but I wouldn’t hold my breath..
I definitely recommend it. Man, I’m sad to hear that Starrett has sold! Ugh, that hurts. I almost always prefer American made (with the exception of a few Swiss or German made tools). Thanks for telling me. We’ll see how it goes!
At 1:03 says "you will drill a hole *exactly* where you meant to" and then proceeds to show the hole drilled completely off to one side of the punch mark! Don't get me wrong - I've owned one of these for years and it's a great bit of kit, but that demo does it a bit of a disservice.
My drillbit was in the divot, although maybe a tad on the side of it. It’s a bit hard when you’re looking through a camera lens and filming, and talking at the same time. That’s OK, I’ll take a B+ grade. Aim small, miss small. Thanks for watching, I'm totally ok with the constructive criticism 👊🏻 I'm all about continuous improvement!
first thing i added to my work issued tool purse. super handy for drilling holes on curved metal.
Exactly! Smart man. I consider it a requirement in a toolkit. 👊🏻
I am so happy youtube showed me your video. Get out there and don't give up! Take a break whenever you need to and keep trying. I hope to see many more of your videos in the future!
Hey! Thanks 🙏🏻
Been looking for a quality EDC folder... thanks!
👊🏻
oooh, thats a pretty knife.
Yeah, I think so too!
The sheath is awesome
Yeah, Armatus Carry sheaths are excellent 👍🏻
Now I know what to get my husband for Christmas
Yeah, I think he would really like it. Tell him to get an Armatus carry sheath to go with it. 👍🏻
Looks great!
Just got to meet Ashley this weekend interesting guy
Oh that’s cool! Where abouts is he in Texas?
This is solid advice. I have at least different brands that are junk. Thanks for the tip!
Glad I can help!
Hard to beat a classic spyderco
Looks great. Love their fixed blades
Good info! Looking for a new knife for my hubby.
Thank you! 👍🏻
