Hey..... Ambuyat the same as Indonesian's popeda. This is my first time knowing Brunei's foods and language, I'm happy that the three of us (Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei) have almost the same foods, language, and culture. Love my neighbors.
I am very glad they even researched the background from where Ambuyat came from! It is very refreshing to see foreigners trying to find out about our traditional dishes!

And I make good friends with them.

Pasar Malam Gadong also there's alot of best food i think they start open around 3pm until night. And the food price cheaper starting $1. Brunei is definitely one of the cheapest places in the world. I went to the same hotel and another hotel which names I forgot but in the latter hotel, there is a room as big as that one decorated with gold costing $400 for one week.

Was my second home for 8 years... peaceful place. Love it. Food and everything are cheap because it tax free country. Brunei $ is 1:1 with Singapore $. If you travel oversea simply walk in to any bank or money change to swap your Brunei $ to S$.

the way to eat ambuyat or na'au (as we melanau vaie said it) is by dipping it into sauce, put it into our mouth and the swallow it (without chewing it)
when it comes to food similarities in Southern Asia, of course we will refer to history 😂😂 Even before there's Brunei, Malaysia, & Indonesia, we're all called as Malay Archipelago or known as The Islands of Spice or Pulau Nusantara😄😄 Of course there's not much different in food cuisine 😊

Rule #1. You shouldn't chew the ambuyat. 😂 And the best explanation for the left hand thingy is that, you are still allowed to use your left hand. It is not some kind of superstitious thingy or cultural appropriation. For muslims, we are following the 'sunnah' of our Prophet Muhammad PBUH to eat using the right hand and to only use your left hand when you're cleaning your private area (using water) after pooping or peeing. But if you're a left handed person, that is so fine. Bruneians call the right hand as tangan school hehehe. Mana2 yang lebih expert, please correct me okay? Thank you. 😊
