  • We found a Titleist 983K in the range weeks ago and I decided to repair it for a local golf team. To do that I have re-shaft the bore through on the club head. We go over how to remove the remaining junk, re-shaft and refinish the club. There is tons of info in the video.

    983k was a classic. Takes a player to hit it though. Great job bringing it back.

    Of all the drivers i have used over the years this one is the one I regret letting go. Gave it to my bro in law who, as a casual once every month or so golfer, still bombs it twenty yds past my Ping 400 max. If he could chip and putt I would never beat him. Nice rebuild. Someone is getting a great driver.

    Haha that is the exact same shaft I have on my Titleist Titanium 975D! I bought it used with a set and found it too stiff for me. Was able to hit a few bombs with it when I used it though! Great content McGolf!

    983e was my high school driver. Miss that thing. Swear I can hit it just as far as the drivers today, maybe not as straight though lol.

    Awesome restore!
    I still use my 983k as my main backup. Sometimes you need that old-school higher trajectory and backspin on a course.
    The last time I had to pull the shaft, I swore would be the last time. Time will tell if that thing will ever let me retire it.

    Excellent video and a solid explanation of not only the process but the attention-to-detail items!
    I am curious if you or anyone else you work with has worked through a retrofit for the current Titleist SureFit hosel to older heads??
    I am asking because I am a lover of the older Titleist woods (975 series in particular) but just re-shafting to a modern option seems to take a lot of options off the table. Adding a SureFit hosel to older options would add an interesting dynamic with swapping out shafts and adding some adjustability!

    The 983K is one of the most sought after Titleist heads. Lucky find!

    Would love to see a re shafting of a new driver where you take the adapter out of the shaft and glue it into the new one using the least amount of tools....so I can do it at home 😃Thks!!!!!

    Pretty spot on. But when you install shaft all the way in, your making the shaft stiffer. If you use a Regular flex, it will be closer to Stiff. You can also insert prepped shaft only 1 1/4 inches in and epoxy. You can use the bigger plastic tip to insert on sole side. The same kind they use on old Callaway bore thru irons. Just epoxy it in and grind down, the same way you would the tip of the shaft if you installed it all the way.

    Donate it to a high school. I'm sure that there is a young player that would just love to it.

    Would you recommend using a scotchbrite grinder wheel for finishing a bore through?

    How much do you know about leather grips? S÷ms like there are only a couple of manufacturers and they're a little pricey. Still, if their claims are to be believed, they're a good bet. There's just not much content online and thought you might help. Thanks for your fantastic advice!

    Awesome craftsmanship. My vote is to give that club to a local high school golf team. Question: is that club bendable for lie angle? I noticed the huge hosel almost like a Wishon. Hope all is well.

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  4 роки тому

      you know I never tried but you are correct typically the biggest hosel with lean themselves to bending. with the right tool,,,,,,

    Hi ,is 95 elevate as good as Nippon 950 pro , thanks 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  4 роки тому +1

      THey are very good shafts. The Nippon is a but soft profile allowing for a higher ball flight where the elevate is a bit firmer for a bit lower one.
