when he walked out for wrestlemania 8 at the Hoosier Dome and you can read his lips "This is the big time baby"...you could tell flair was in awe of finally being at mania even after all the big events he'd main evented.
I get chills from watching that every time.. you can tell how struck he was by it and how proud he was to be there. Plus his strut was the Nature Boy at his best.. one of my all time favorite matches; it doesn't get the credit it deserves from pre match storytelling down to the bumps they took. One of the best WWE title matches at Mania imo.
And when you consider his war with Jim Herd back in WCW, Flair maineventing at Wrestlemania 8 is like a big fuck you aimed at Herd.
To go from doing shows in places like Battle Creek Michigan in front of 500 people a month before he left WCW to main eventing a 68,000 completely sold out supershow like WrestleMania inside of a year after an idiot running a Pizza Hut told him he couldn't draw anymore...that had to be gratifying as hell. Flair took what was shaping up as a dull 1991 and made the back half as exciting as any point in my childhood, hands down.

@@TheBillliantOneas far as I remember, he had it in only two instances in 2004. Backlash 2004 vs Shelton Benjamin and Taboo Tuesday 2004 vs Randy Orton in a Steel Cage Match.
He had it in also two instances in 02 I think. At King of the Ring vs Eddie Guerrero and at Unforgiven vs Chris Jericho.

Tony Andrews that might have been one of my favorite PPV’s. Funny thing was I had to watch it through a scrambled screen because we did not order it so it was like listening to it on the radio.

I always heard Ric Flair was one of the few guys outside his own company Vince was aware of and liked and the way they used him you could tell. They didn't make him wear polka dots or a crown, they let him be Ric Flair.
He was the 2nd biggest name in pro wrestling. There's no way you could pretend to make him anything else. All the popular wrestling magazines had featured dream matches of Flair in the WWF. He was too prominent and his appearance meant too much to gimmick up.
Of course he did.. McMahon Sr voted for him to be world champ in 1981. They all loved Ric.. I'm sure Vince wanted him in the mid 80's much like he did Terry Funk. Ric got a lucky break due to Jim Herd being stupid and they had that 2 year run.

Mic Maliss indeed. I’m sure that’ll happen eventually. But not likely whilst he’s still alive unfortunately. I think it’s more likely to happen when Paul Levesque. Randy Orton And Dave Bautista are all old men and Ric has passed on. Plus the fact that Orton still has a long career ahead of him before he makes it into the Hall Of Fame. Unless something like what happened to Edge, happens to Orton

It works so well as a heel theme because it gives off a really narcassistic feel but it also works as a face them because when all the brass comes in and everything you're just like "oh boy here he comes!"
If I were a heel I'd use this theme and the titantron vid would just be my head in front of a Starburst pattern that gets bigger and bigger as time goes on 😂
This is vintage Ric Flair! I know he only used it during his first WWF run but it fit him perfectly! Should have used it the rest of his career
I think he used it in during the ruthless aggression era/2004 a few times.

@@mattpatches8395So did I. Believe it or not too, that’s the final Royal Rumble that actually had established rules.
Not the crap you see todays where it all started 1 year later after this RR here, that if someone isn’t an official participant like Giant Gonzalez for example, he got in the ring and threw Undertaker over the top rope and the elimination still counted. Plus today’s RR’s even allow weapons to be used too.
The other thing that sucks too is that in the 1997 Royal Rumble, Stone Cold was eliminated by Bret Hart, he snuck back in and eliminated Bret Hart and his elimination counted and Stone Cold winning the RR too even still counted as well.
These were all strictly forbidden in Royal Rumble 1988-1992. That’s why I liked these Royal Rumbles better, they added better suspense and excitement too
This theme is one of the reasons Ric Flair is one of my favourite wrestlers and probably my favourite bad guy wrestler. His flamboyance and his call are the others.

I wish he had used this when he returned to the WWF in 2001. This was actually better than his WCW theme and the theme he used while in the WWF/E from 2001-now.

I remember first hearing this theme in Day of Reckoning on the Gamecube. I was confused at first, but instantly loved it more than his more recognizable theme
This is my fav Flair theme because I associate this more with Naitch exclusively than the entirely classical version from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
If you listen to both his WCW theme, and this theme closely, you can hear how similar they are. That's because this theme was made using his WCW theme, they just arranged it differently.
His best theme. Should have stuck with this one after his WWE return.

Who else remembers him using this theme on the SNES/Genesis Royal Rumble games? And I remember being so PISSED when he helped Undertaker beat Hogan for the title at Survivor Series 1991.
The opening of this track sounded more jazzy before it got into a more Olympic style. Fitting for the Nature Boy’s larger than life ego gimmick.
