This song has multiple meanings for me: 1. If you're an 80's child like me, Hulkamania was in it's prime. 2. As I got older, this song is the first song I play when I workout. 3. One of the funniest things I think about when I watch this is the skits where mean Gene was training with hulk Hogan for their match in Minneapolis.

@GT Barry Windham left WWE shortly before or after this LP came out. The tag-team of Rotunda and Danny Spivey wound up using "Born in the USA". Jim Steinman's great and this is a great track, but Vince made the right call in giving Hogan "Real American". In any case, Steinman's track was used for Hulk Hogan's Rock and Wrestling, the WWE- produced Saturday morning cartoon show.

      Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Now THIS is the real Hulk theme. "Real American" was first used by Mike Rotundo and Barry Windham, but due to what PWI described as the crowds' "catatonic response" to this theme, they did a switch-er-oo, giving Hulk "Real American." (I think then Windham & Rotundo came out to "Born in the USA"...?")
    And the rest is history!

FYI for those wondering about the US Express and Hulk Hogan's theme. They used Born in the USA and Eye of the Tiger as entrance music until December 1985 (Including Wrestlemania), a month after this came out. It was a show that was aired live on the MSG network. Hogan vs. Muraco, US Express vs. jobbers. Both used their new themes. By March Windham was gone and Hogan was using Real American. Rock N Wrestling was using the Hogan theme since September of 1985, two months before The Wrestling Album was released. So technically it was the cartoon theme BEFORE it was on this album or Hogan's entrance theme.

I saw him come out in title match to eye of the tiger, how long did he use that? I never knew he did before seeing the old match.

Hogan started using Eye of the Tiger in 1982 while he was still in the AWA, then continued using it when he joined the WWF in late-1983. He used Hulk Hogan's Theme very briefly starting in early-October 1985 then switched to Real American around November 1985.

James H Yes, there's a match against Rusty Brooks from November of 85 on here where he uses it.

Last time I checked, this was a song titled "Ravishing" which was written by the legendary Jim Steinman and was performed by Bonnie Tyler

    • @orinanime

Written by steinmann and shuki levy (the guy who did tons of 80s and 90s cartoon music and power rangers music). Written for Hogan. Who used it for less than a year.
Then Jim reworked it for Tyler.

This would have been a cool Ultimate Warrior theme as well.

It's an instrumental version of Bonnie Tyler's Ravashing. Pretty cheap, really.

Jim Steinman always did stuff like this. Holding out for a Hero is very similar to Stark Raving Love. Most of his music is really just retreads of the old musicals he wrote.

This theme actually came out before Ravishing by Bonnie Tyler
