Also, the fact that Gwen shakes Miles' hand is an indicator of just how big a crush she has on him too, otherwise she would've hugged him or waved goodbye.

Rio's speech was super powerful. "He never lets anyone at those big fancy places he's going to be in tell him he doesn't belong there" hits hard when Miles gets to meet an elite society and Miguel goes, "you don't belong here. You never did" during the train chase scene. As a first generation kid who went to a prestigious institution on scholarship, I felt that.
How was it, to go to those places ? I'm second generation and went to a french private school but the students were (rich but also) from all over the world. I imagine the feeling of being "other" must have been even stronger for you.
@ it was very tough. I'm from Botswana and I went to study in the US when I was 17. I left with, literally, a small suitcase with 2 pairs of shoes, 4 pairs of jeans and 8 tees. I was away from home for 6 years straight because I couldn't afford tickets to fly home during holidays and when school closed. I couldn't even buy a ticket to go there in my first year. I had to start a fundraising campaign. I'd hear my mates plan vacations to Europe and I couldn't even afford a laptop. I'd get seizures and I couldn't go to the hospital because it was expensive af. Like Miles, I let them have it, I beat them all. I graduated with a distinction in Studio Art and decided to come home to recover. Last year I clocked a year without a grand mal seizure for the first time since 2016. I want to go to Cornell next year and get a master's in Architecture. I had gotten into Rhode Island School of Design for the same program but I couldn't find enough money for room and board so I missed out.

Gwen was being really nice, they thought she was the reason he was missing school and all but she was just passing by. If there wasn't for the misunderstanding I bet that they would've liked her more. At least Rio is starting to like her you can tell at the end of the movie when they talk.
At the end she really went "You scored good, go get some of that and make me proud miles"

I absolutely love the small detail at 0:17 when his mom falls on miles for support. Such small details have really made this movie an absolute cinematic masterpiece.
Homestly people need parents like this because we will grow into a better person.

I never ever cry when watching an emotional scene in movies, but when i was at the theater i couldnt help it. Spiderman being my favorite superhero since i was a kid and watching this movie as a 21 yr old man who left my house as a teenager i felt this scene so hard because my mom has always looked out for me despite me not contacting her for months, she always contacts me first at least once a week to check up on me. I can be a very prideful person so i dont usually reach out to people first but my mom never fails to put that aside. She loves me and i love her and wish to be more like her

I kicked 3 teens out of my house for using my first name. My youngest had to explain politeness to her friends before inviting them back. After that, it only took a few days before I let them call me Papa instead. (All 3 of my daughters friends/partners call me Papa, except my son-in-law who calls me Rev)
@@SirRevCyberTruckerit's not a politeness thing, but a culture thing. There are plenty of cultures where using first names is the standard, and they are still able to be polite.
Making them call you papa makes it sound like it's more about power than politeness.

They love their son. And he loves them. Which is why he's going to save his dad.
I have no doubt Miles will reveal his secret to his parents in the next movie. And this might be a longshot but I think when he reveals it to his mom she will just say in a very calm tone "I know" and we get another speech about her just wanting Miles to do whatever fulfills him. If both of his parents are there for the reveal I can imagine Miles and Rio having this heartfelt moment together while Jeff is just having a mental breakdown in the background.
I admit. Like most mothers others about their child’s safety, it doesn’t matter to them how old they are, his mom is actually a good person. I understand she tries to treat miles better and agrees to let him know wherever he went, just think of themselves for better moments. Like miles, his mom ain’t perfect but both good people.
As an immigrant, this scene reminds me of my mom, and makes me cry every time

5:02/5:45, when Miles said that he will came back with a cake, did anyone remember that when andrew garfield spiderman tries to bought Egg but forgot which cause a huge riff between his aunt, but when he saves New York from the the lizard (Dr Connors) Peter returns home, injured and he bought the eggs to aunt may want which she could only cry at his nephew looks. I think when Beyond the spider- verse Happen, when spots defeated, Miles Return home with bruises and with a cake on his hands and Rio was utterly confuses and happy that miles Return, not safely but return nonetheless, but miles could only smiles at her... Can you imagine that? The wholesome. And call back to the amazing spiderman movie.

2:41 Miles wanted to say “I’m Spider-Man.” You can tell in his face and his voice that it’s killing him to keep the secret, but he changes his mind halfway through. Rio could even tell he was going to tell her something but looked disappointed when he apologized instead.

I remember when I went to the movies to see this animation and sat next to me a father and a son who I don't remember now if it was a boy or a girl, but it was a small child. When this scene was on, I noticed that the father kind of pulled his son by the shoulder and gave him a hug, this scene is very beautiful and made me recall several memories of my childhood, sometimes we are rebellious and don't realize that our parents love us and want the best for us, they don't want us to get hurt and are always supporting us, they are in many cases our only safe haven during our lives.

They really wanted to see and chat with each other for a long time. Because of their alter-ego identity. And since they are on the good side, a hero, they might not have the chance on the next day. A strong villain can kill any of them. A whole different set of thinking for the kids and the naive grown ups

Somehow when I saw the movie for the first time I thought about how rude Miles' parents were to Gwen, let me explain. I'm Spanish, in Spain if you treat your partner's parents with familiarity it's really good (always with respect obv), it's warmer and you feel included in the family. So I was like "why are they behaving like that? Gwen just call them by their names, I don't see anything wrong. But then I remembered my Colombian friend, who told me how in Latin America they use Don or Doña before their first names (Mr. and Mrs.) In the US it's the same, but by their last name. Still, I'm shocked by the culture every time I see this scene, it's just my "I don't see it as a big deal" way of thinking.
I love Rio ❤she is a great mom, but it's a bit toxic the "Don't take him away from me", but he's their only child, so it's normal I guess 😂.
So, here in Brazil, is common call older people as "tia", in literal pronnunciation is "aunt", formally "senhora" (Ms.) and the Firth name of people

This was dumb. Creating awkward scenes about a crush is so cliché. Then with the parents who don't acknowledge that their kid is older than 10: one extreme or the other.
