This entire concert is a spiritual experience.
Spiritual is the exact right word!!! 👌
You are so true
We won't let Anathema ends! Vincent, Danny, Jamie, Lee...Don't give up!
Hugs from Brazil!
Thank you, and hugs back!
Love it when people are moved to tears by music
Been listening to them for 20 years now
One of the most underrated band of all time. My personal favorite band. Luv these Liverpool lads. Much luv from Asia.
"It's just music"
Only arts can touch our souls... To The tears.
Beautiful reaction Jim.
A big hug from Medellin Colombia ❤️
A band for life
One of the best songs ever!!!
Has exactly the same effect on me every time I hear this. I feel like my insides have been massaged.
Fantastic band with a fantastic performance
Automatic like!! This band is important to me on a personal level , especially the We're Here Because We're Here album . This is a great album and performance!
I’m with you on that one.. that album is special :)
I am with you as well! Anathema is a soundtrack to my life for the good and the bad. A fine day to exit (amazing record) and we're here are both equally important for the time of life l was in. Godspeed friends!
I cried with you. And I have this DVD and watched it countless times
"One Last Goodbye " is another fantastic one from this same live show. It never fails to bring a tear to my eye no matter how many times I see it. While being a deeply sad song, it's also hauntingly beautiful.
'its just music' Anathema - its not just music. :) One of the best UK bands so utterly underrated by the mainstream. I am hoping they come back as the emotion connection in their music is simply unmatched and as for solos, so very tasteful. I have seen them live many times in some small venues in Ireland & Northern Ireland and they have become very special moments for me.
I've seen Anathema several times during their last 5 years together and they are an amazing live act. Daniel (guitar, fro and bro of singer, wrote majority of songs and is a nice guy to talk with.
Thank you so very much you've totally made my day . Love Anathema and even if they never reform they'll always have a special place in my ❤ and their fantastic music will live on as its got a real timeless quality about it .
Thank you once again from 🇮🇪
Got this live DVD/cd album in my collection. Absolutely great performance in Sofia! Had tickets for Palladium gig in 2019, never went to due covid scare.Looks like it was their last live performance so far. That was my biggest regret I can't forget about....
few years ago Daniel and Vincent did an accoustic tour and with my friend from another part of our country we spontaneously decided we would go to Slovakia to see them (we are huge introverts, never went to any concert ever :D), so we went and it's something we will never forget or regret. Incl. driving back in the middle of the night through storm and hail, both of us completely silent... :) (And we are even not young, like 35 and 52 at that time. It's quite pathetic, as I read it.)
I just had to watch this reaction a few more times. The joy I see in Jim's eyes while listening to good music is so heart-warming for people like me. Such a beautiful journey this channel!
Thanks so much Nima, and it’s comments like yours that makes it all worthwhile!
One of the most heartfelt reactions I've seen in my life. Look at your eyes, look at the sheer enthusiasm and emotion puring out of 'em. Thank you.
It's amazing what music can do to us, isn't it... One of my favorite bands, still heartbroken that they're on hiatus... They are just incredible!
I really hope they come back last year I had something come up so I couldn't go to their London gig thinking "oh well I'll just see them next time"..... if only I knew
Powerful... the sound of music is. Let us all hope they find a way to continue to give. Peace
Weather Systems is one of my favourite albums of the past decade and universal might be one of my favourite live albums of all time.
Awww, I’m not crying, you are crying.
I’m so moved from your reaction to Anathema.
My heart felt hugged the same way, when I heard them for the fist time.
(Untouchable 1&2)
BTW.. I love your reaction to Untouchable 1&2 ♥️
This video still brings me to tears after years.. !! It’s so wonderful to know how you feel when I see the tears in yours.
They were and are a revelation and I’ll love them till my last breath.
All the best wishes for you and stay safe !
Much love from Austria ♥️🤘🏻
Hits hard, this song!
@@JimNewstead Extremely !!
Weather systems is the continuation of anathema and youlll like the record very much. Thank you for this reaction jim, we must meet. Dan x
Dan, I'd like that very much! I still haven't heard all of your material but I am super impressed with everything I've heard so far, so it comes as no surprise that your new record will be to my liking! This song brought tears to my eyes. The best music has the power to do that. Thank you for the comment! Jim 👍🏻
que zarpado anathema, tuve el privilegio de verlos... tanta buena vibra...
Sorry - 3rd brother is the bass player. Vincent is singer.
That was amazing! Anathema’s song ‘A Simple Mistake’ is rather epic also :)
Yes!
And the song Everything, off this album... Dude. Truly amazing, soul touching. Could you imagine being in this crowd sharing this experience?! You wouldn't leave the same.
Jim you should find the time to have the Anathema experience from the first album. It will make you understand exactly how these humble guys have written some unforgettable moments in music over the years, changing but always making you feel emotional.
That could be cool. Their early stuff is very different. Good songs and amazing melody and riffs but l prefer post Judgement, Anathema.
I wasn't the only one who had tears in my eyes while listening , ı m really flying spiritually while listening
you listened thin air , cant let go , untouchable1/2 and flying until now , you can be sure there are many songs of them you love : lost control , deep , one last goodbye , angelica , dreaming light , lost song 2 and ..... ı m tired of counting 😊
I’ll listen to an album next I think.
Nice reaction by the way, this track is simply amazing!!!
Vincent on lead vocals and acoustic guitar. Danny on electric guitar and backing vocals. Danny has the biggest hair and also does piano / keyboards.
Thanks.... that helps!
I have the Blu Ray and the overall production, sound and film quality is fantastic. This also goes for the atmosphere in the theater.
I'm not too familiar with these guys, like you have some of their stuff Jim but never really dug into it. The simplicity yet emotion of that guitar solo followed by the crowd singing back gave me goosebumps so I definitely need to check them out some more!
In my personal soundtrack from the Crestfallen EP. Monumental band.
This band is incredible i ve seen them a few in times in france and spain their songs are so emotional
Vincent is lead vocalist, rhythm guitar & keys.
Danny is lead guitarist, piano, backing vocals.
Jamie, Vinny's twin, is the bassist.
Lee is on backing vocals and lead on some tracks. She's wonderful, as is Vinny.
John, her brother, is the drummer.
Daniel is the keyboardist.
Great reaction, Jim! It's just magic....
But so sad that they have ended as a band. Hopefully they will be back later on.
Brilliant and touching reaction to a band I have had many a similar reaction to. They’re an amazing band I’ve been honoured to see a few times! The talent in that family is unreal. It is emotional. Powerful. Not just music 😳 It’s a universal language. They’re so down to earth. I hope their hiatus doesn’t last. I followed them from the early darker days but they progressed well (bar some slips album/song wise lol, that’s being a band for you!) A band that had touched my life. Jamie (bass) and Danny are the twins and Vincent is a mastermind with layering. Wonderful reaction. Thank you
No no 😅 Vincent is the lead singer and Jamie is his twin on bass, and Danny (lead guitar) is their older brother and the mastermind as you put it. 😊 Lee (female singer) and John (drums) are brother and sister.
Loved Anathema (which you pronounced correctly, the same way the band does though without the Liverpudlian accent) since I saw them with Cathedral and Paradise Lost back in 1995. Last saw them at the London Palladium in March 2020, which will be their last UK gig unless they come off hiatus. Wonderful band. All their albums are worth many listens. Also Danny's solo stuff and his collaborations with Anneke van Giersbergen. Try their In Parallel album or any of the umpteen videos of them both on UA-cam. Enjoy the journey :)
It's never really "just" music when it evokes an emotional reaction like that. 🙂
For me it's Loneliness by Wintersun. Gets me every time.
I was in the penultime concert they gave, in Bilbao, few people, was in march 2020 with the pandemic measures starting. A shame all the later news with the hiatus...
Anathema - Untouchable Part I and Part II. One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Highly recommend checking out the live performance if you haven't already (think it's from the same gig)
It's the one he mentioned watching 2 years ago, I suppose ua-cam.com/video/Zog7G-GIb-0/v-deo.html
That's the one!
For years, when I feel the need to cry (which, of course, **cough** is never) I put on this song. It's a well-up guarantee.
Of course! Cough cough 😉
My suggestion full album is of course We're Here Because We're Here.....😉
This and Weather Systems are a must
@@andyfox8377 absolutely
This is one of my absolute favourite concert Blurays, next to Anesthetize
Great reaction! Thanks! 😃
If you look for vinyl, I recommend Alternative 4, Judgement, A Natural Disaster or Weather Systems. All brilliant.
Anathema saved my life, grow up with them and i hope to die with this song, just wiil let myself go and fly.
That’s a sad message; I like them very much, especially the albums from the nineties like: Alternative 4. Judgement. Eternity.
In the Netherlands, we would pronounce the name not like the English but the other way you mentioned.
Indeed, the singer doesn’t sing out of tune here; it sounds great. I’ve heard him do otherwise in a live performance. I don’t know if they use something like auto-tune here.
If you want to see a great audience, look at En livstid I krig by Sabaton live in Gothenburg
For me, music is emotion too. Some song will bring tears in my eyes every time I hear it.
It's one of the songs on my anti-suicidal playlist. It basically saved my life just by being so beautiful.
this one is also very similarly strong ua-cam.com/video/340Kdg1V3aI/v-deo.html (or at least for me)
Watch the song Untouchable. From the same concert. You WILL get teary eyed!
I have… ua-cam.com/video/Zog7G-GIb-0/v-deo.html
we are still here. come back
Hi Jim, the UNIVERSAL DVD is a masterpiece and a nice collection of tracks. I always suggest this concert to get into Anathema. You should give "The Storm Before The Calm (Universal DVD)" a chance...
There's a gofundme set up by a fan with Danny's blessing, if anyone's interested I shall link it here. Danny had to put all of his best equipment up for sale & the same fan bought his guitar & gifted it back to him.
if you like Anathema en the interaction with the crowd, you should react to One last goodbye live at Incrível Almadense PT. It isn't an official video, so the quality of the sound isn't very good, but the energy and intensity is incredible. The song is about their mother who passed away and Vincent gets very emotional during the end of the song with the crowd finishing the song for him...
All anathema albums are special, but eternity, alternative 4, judgement. Are very special. And Duncan Patterson had a great job in all these albums, he is the heart of alternative 4 album, Listen to antimatter song named epitaph. .
Regarding that weird pronunciation of the name - I think it may be that new logo that's confusing new fans of the band, who also happen not to be familiar with the word 'anathema'. Having said that, I feel like I've heard at least one British person say it like that too, not just Americans.
Hi from Russia, Jim, and thank you.
It seems unreal that so had the opportunity to attend one of their concerts.
It was a shame when I learned during the pandemic that they got into a hiatus and even started selling their instruments to afford groceries and rent.
Listen to 'A Simple Mistake To Make' at the same venue. That will have the same effect.
Which version of simple mistake do you prefer? I prefer the early version over the album version.
I prefer the version on 'We're Here Because We're Here '
Omg Jim. 😱 Didnt know this.2019 I bought tickits to 2020 prognosis festival in Eindhoven Holland, driving happy All the way from denmark because of anathema headliner. Im a huge fan as you know but havnt Seen them live yet. Now i know the reason why they are not reannounced to the new date in 2022 like the other bands. Omg. 😰😰😰
Ohhhhhh, sorry to be the bearer of bad news….. 😞
Hey there Jim, you seem to be on a real cool journey of discovery here. I enjoy your reactions immensely. I've been at this prog/avant garde stuff since the 70's. I have a plethora of suggestions I love to see you react to. Some of them will blow your hair off😉👍
Please…. I can’t afford to lose any more hair!!!! Can you suggest a few to help it grow back again? 😜
@@JimNewstead lol, I'm a card carrying member of the folicly impaired. Try this ua-cam.com/video/eStdmreQF88/v-deo.html
Hey Jim, great emotional reaction to this wonderful band! It is so sad they split up.
Btw, have you already checked out My Dying Bride, the band of your twin brother Aaron Stanthorpe?
Not bad at all.
