I'm so lucky to have had the opportunity to sing with this beautiful soul. I'll miss your boundless energy, your stories and your encouraging words. May you rest in peace Donna, have fun playing that great gig in the sky. Xoxo
Fitri G I envy you so much for getting to sing with her! Though I didn't know her, she seemed like such a warm hearted person. Sorry you lost a friend.
Donna would come visit me every night when I first started singing with my guitar at Rosey's Boathouse in Kaneohe in 1973. She was humble, a great friend, and knowing it was my first gig, would share the mic with her singing, and inspired and gave me the confidence I needed to keep the audience smiling for 8 months. I will always remember Donna. She was spectacular on and off stage.
Just watched Donna on the Danny Kaye Show in 1966 and in a 1965 screen test with Jerry Lewis for The Family Jewels. I hope Donna had a great life in Hawaii and RIP.
March 10, 2018 Donna Butterworth Rest In Peace🙏🏻😔🌸🌸🌈 Donna Butterworth, a child actress and singer who co-starred with Elvis Presley in the 1966 movie 'Paradise, Hawaiian Style', died Tuesday at Hilo Medical Center following a long illness. She was 62. Born in Philadelphia on Feb. 23, 1956, Butterworth was 3 when she moved to Hawaii with her family. She was 9 and already a showbiz veteran when she got the call to film with Elvis. By then, she had performed with entertainer Don Ho; released two singles, 'Sailor Boy' and 'California Sunshine Boy' on a national record label; appeared on 'The Hollywood Palace', 'The Dean Martin Show', 'The Andy Williams Show' and 'The Danny Kaye Show'; and garnered a Golden Globe nomination for most promising newcomer for her role in the 1965 Jerry Lewis comedy 'The Family Jewels.' In 'Paradise, Hawaiian Style', Butterworth played Jan Kohana, daughter of the business partner of Elvis' character. Butterworth sang several duets with the King of Rock 'n' Roll and gained a cult following, but her acting career was short-lived. She appeared in 'Little Leathernecks', an unsold sitcom pilot that aired as an episode of 'Summer Fun', a seven-week 1966 ABC-TV summer-replacement series, and 'A Boy Called Nuthin'', a two-part 1967 episode of 'Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color' that starred Ron Howard. As an adult, Butterworth sang professionally and recorded a CD in Hawaii in the early 2000s. A private memorial and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Butterworth is survived by her mother, Isabella Chalfant of Las Vegas; brother, William T. Butterworth of Las Vegas; nieces, nephews and cousins.
So nice to see Donna singing again. I so admired her being in the movies. Didn't know she sang with so many people. If Tony Bennett can still be singing and doing so well so can you Donna!!!!
Thank you for posting this ... a gem, indeed. A touching song, great harmonies. I'm sorry you lost your friend. I was mesmerized by Donna when I was a kid. So natural on screen, on TV. I have this story: I remeber an encounter I had when I was a kid, I do not recall the when or where but I saw a young girl, dressed much like the character Donna played in The Family Jewels, classy coat, shoes, hat... and that girl looked exactly like Donna. Not just the clothing but her face. I grew up in Upper Darby, a Philly suburb. I've always wondered if it was Donna, but now, in my later years that memory is so faded and from so long ago, I'll never know.
Thank you for posting this!!!!!!! Such a beautiful song Donna. Thank you for the opportunity to see this. Lovely harmonies from the two of you lovely ladies, and sweet tiny dog too! Thank you Donna for all the joy you have brought to so many baby boomers while they grew up watching your sweet performances at the movies. Sending much love from fans to you on this fine day. Blessings
@@msgebers You're of course quite welcome. I faintly recall Donna from when she appeared in "The Family Jewels". Somehow came across the other day her audition film with Jerry Lewis, Was pleasantly surprised to see many clips here at YT of her handful of TV appearances in the mid-60s and in Elvis' "Paradise Hawaiian Style" (never seen all of that one. Only bits & pieces of the years). I've been watching them and I'm absolutely amazed by Donna's talent. If she'd stayed in in the TV/movie biz I'm positive she'd have become a major star....or maybe even on the stage in musicals ! And she comes across as such a sweet down to earth person. Bless her heart ! How sad she left us in 2018 when only 62 years of age. I was born the same year she was (1956). Thank you again ! Wishing you & you loved ones the BEST of everything !!
Am in tears. Just found out that Donna passed away last year. I am so terribly sad. She was such a wonderful entertainer. Watched her growing up. She was my age or one year older. Donna you will be missed forever. Rest with the angels.
Donna Butterworth passed away today at 62. May she rest in peace. Little Donna had possibly the best entry into Show Business, appearing on Big Screen with Jerry Lewis and also Elvis Presley. Photos don't do justice, Donna performs here 3 years ago. Thank you for all the music, Donna. samlongoria.com
Sam - yes DONNA BUTTERWORTH was a great talent - what happened? why did she only do a few movies - with Elvis Presley - and - Jerry Lewis - - and a few tv guest appearances on major shows.? SHE was doing so well - everybody loved her ! where did she go ? I read that she stayed in Hawaii but why didn't she continue on after she had such a wonderful start ? Joe Nania a.k.a. Hollywood Joe
@@hollywoodjoe123 Yes, Joe, a great talent. Oddly-enough her last screen/SAG credit? Was when she received the BEST NEW STAR AWARD at the Golden Globes. After that she dropped out of sight. Not unusual for kids - even the special ones like DB.
It is odd that we really never heard about DONNA BUTTERWORTH after she did only a few movies and guest appearances on tv shows in Hollywood - Elvis - Jerry Lewis - Dean Martin all loved her- so what happened/ Where did she go - what went on as she aged ? was she married ? I read that she was a singer - but why did she not continue on as an actress - she was doing so well _ ? anyone know anything about her , Joe Nania a.k.a. Hollywood Joe
Donna dropped out of sight after her two big movie roles, then resurfaced in about 1978 in Hawaii by writing and singing a song on a local radio station’s album of contest winning songs. An interview she gave then sounded pretty sad, when she described blowing her childhood earnings on things like flying a group of friends to Maui “for breakfast” on a whim. She ended up looking like she’d put herself through a hard life. If she was a childhood stardom victim, then that’s a shame.
FANTASTIC!!! Keep on singing and posting it. When possible don´t forget DATIN´ and BILL BAILEY. Aloha from Duval and Moacyr on behalf of your fans from Brazil.
Thanks! She was so excited to share her Christmas song with the world. To answer your question, no, I don't have any contact with her family these days.

Fitri G now how old was you there singing with Donna? and how old was she singing with you?
Do you know anything else about her? Marriage, job...how she died? Thanks
That is a great song she wrote. Do you know if she published it?
What a blessing she is very talented and pretty

Same!! I just did the exact same thing..wow..what a coincidence. That kid had "it". I wonder why she stopped after the Elvis movie?

She was always my favourite part of the Elvis movies she was in. I still sing Queenie Wahine to this day.

me too...there are no photos of her from age 10 until age 60...and no information
She retired from Hollywood in 1967.

I remember a TV pilot Donna starred in, “Little Leatherneck.”
Mrs Butterworth's granddaughter and great-granddaughter. Pour on the syrup. Good harmonies
