  • Here it is! After spending 184 days on trail with this gear, I have opinions! Today, I’m unpacking my backpack so you can see what did (and did not) make the final cut. Gear is heavy, and pack weight matters, so hopefully this helps you all plan your next pack out! My lighterpack link is still active if you want to really dig in and see what did not make it all the way to Maine. I never updated it (sorry!). As always, feel free to leave questions and comments below!
The breakdown (if you’re looking just for one thing):
    00:43 Stuff on the outside
    14:34 Stuff on the inside
    15:02 The Blueberry
16:17 Bag of all things (@hilltoppacks)
    25:30 Food storage
27:58 Bag liners (and their contents)
31:20 Things I sent home (but would pack again)
    40:15 What I wore
    45:52 The fanny pack

Best bag to line your bear bag is a turkey oven bag.

Believe all those chrome umbrellas are made by the same company and rebranded. I have the six moons and had the same problem.

Hi thanks for the video......did you notice the deet having a negative effect on any gear.....?

Surprisingly, I did not. The only thing I noticed was that it rubbed some of the printed detail off of my Groove Life silicone ring, but otherwise, I didn’t notice any gear damage. That being said, I tried to be very conscious about spraying my deet away from my gear.

Instead of throwing anything away like the tent and jacket send them to me I'll repair them.

Great video, thanks. 1 question, I'm struggling to find the nalgene collapsible bottle to pee in, been looking for several months. I actually just reached out directly to nalgene, but if it's not available do you have any other suggestions? It's the only one I've seen people use, other than a Gatorade bottle.

I ordered mine from Amazon. When I looked it up, it looks like they redesigned it to have a ring near the top. It’s the Nalgene Canteen, wide mouth, collapsable. I’d look that up. I’ve also seen wide mouth silicone-type bottles at stores, but I’m not sure that would provide as much structure to keep the bottle from tipping over in your tent when you store it after using it. Hope you can find the right one for you!

Bag balm is awesome! I used the small tin the whole trail. Not too heavy and definitely worth it for my eczema.
