    I'm an RRT-RPFT. ironically, do you know who has larger than predicted lung volumes without air trapping (IME)? I mean, it makes sense if you think about it. Out of the general population, they are exercising their lungs while they do what they do.
    marijuana smokers/vapers. Obviously, the longer they smoke it, the greater the chances they'll do damage. However, a younger person (20's, 30's, maybe even 40's) may have a normal PFT, with the exception of increased IRV and capacities that include IRV. It is a substantial increase, as well. I'm talking 125-135% greater than predicted in some cases. They take as deep of a breath as they can and then hold it for 10, 20, 30 seconds. They perform lung recruitment maneuvers daily :P
    (i do not recommend this activity; just an observation)

    • @RespiratoryCoach

      Thank you for the request, Sunil, but I have very little background in neonatal ventilation. I prefer to stay in my area of expertise, being adult critical and acute care. I will try to get one of neo/pedi experts on the channel to answer your question though. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    A family member says he was told by a local medical professional that when people start having CoVid-19 symptoms at home, they benefit by very early (at home) use of oxygen concentrators. This was suggested as a means of preventing the illness of ever getting bad enough to need to go to the hospital. Any thoughts about this?

    • @RespiratoryCoach
      @RespiratoryCoach  4 роки тому +2

      Hi. I respectfully withhold any thoughts on COVID-19. Not sure there's been enough to time to properly assess what may or may not help. I will tell you that my knowledge of oxygen does not support prophylactic properties associated with prevention or progression of viral and/or bacterial diseases. For what that's worth. Thank you for asking and watching.
