I love worm towers too!! My VermiHut runs very similar to the Worm Factory 360. Very cool watching you build this tray up from scratch!! Excellent video!!🪱🪱🪱

Thank you!! I’m always curious about all the experiments you do. Your videos are like mine as far as you tell the truth when something goes wrong. 😅

I have some questions that I might have missed in previous videos. Where do you get pine shavings & straw from?”

I personally get it at tractor supply and Amazon because it comes sealed it’s cheap and very clean. Many many years ago I used straw from outside and it had bugs in it.

Thank you for the video, I just rescued some European red worms from a Walmart refrigerator 😬 and I homed them in a worm farm 360. First time ever getting worms for castings, I was planning buying some online but I saw this babies trying to scape their tiny container and purchased them not even knowing what kind of worms they were. Just wondering if my worms will be able to pass to second level because they are a lot bigger than the regular red worms. Thank you for your feedback in advance. At the moment they look pretty happy in their new home but I just started the first layer.

You probably bought European nightcrawlers from walmart. Even though they don't need fridgeration they put them there anyway. Keep the bedding moist at all times and don't feed until you see the food gone. It takes time for them to get used to the new home. I have at times rescued worms too :)

I have a 360 tower. I cleaned out a tray, but the corners and edges were wet, so I just stacked it in my tower to let it dry out and clean it later. Worms moved into it, why there isn’t any food.

Sorry I’m not understanding? Can you tell me again

@@TheGardenAndWormLady I’m sorry, I was trying to make my question short. I’ll try again. I harvested a tray from my 360, but the corners and edges were still wet and dirty. Instead of removing that tray out of my 360, I thought that I would leave it in to dry out and clean out later. I meant to stack it on top, but I stacked it in as my second level. I came back a few days later to feed my worms and my population in that first level looked low. I pulled that first level off and low and behold, a bunch of worms were in the corners and edges of that empty tray. What is it that attracted them to the empty tray, are they trying to get away from the food in the first tray? I want to remove the tray, but would it be better to just leave the worms alone? I figure they know what they like better than I do.

How long until you have red wigglers available? I have raised in the past and need some new stock. Thanks

What do you do about the worms continually in the bottom catch tray of the tower? I worry about them getting starved and dying.

You’re the first person I’ve seen that uses pine shavings… Everybody else says not to use them because it’s to acidic… But obviously you’re worms love it… Maybe you just have the right balance of pine shavings and carbon.

    • @TheGardenAndWormLady
      @TheGardenAndWormLady  Рік тому +1

The right balance plus you kind of learn how much to use by feeling it. Plus if you add dolomite lime, a calms down the acidity and you’ll be fine.

How do you get people buying from you? I advetse like crazy on fb on evey gardening group, and hereand there people talk to me,but most just like my add, i had 2 serious customers about 3 months back

It takes about 2-3 yrs to get a business up and going. I’ve sold on eBay and occasionally still do but their cut is big. I invested in a website. I have a Facebook page plus Instagram and TikTok.
Honesty about your product is very very important. If you’re selling red wigglers and they are mixed with blues say so. People like honest people. I’m not saying you’re not I’m just saying that will get you going really good in the long-haul. Also have great customer service. When there’s a problem deal with it right away. Answer questions when they come to you. In time you’ll build a good reputation.

Thanx i had one problem, the first one actually, a courier company i used, they had a drop off box in a supermarket, the worms never got to their destination, so in the end i promised the person to send a new batch of worms at my expense, using a different company, the worms arrived and the customer was satisfied, and ordered a second batch

Thanks for the mention Vee! I was in a Delaware Master Gardener meeting on Wednesday the 17th and they were talking about lessons for elementary school kids, compost and vermicompost came up in the discussion. I’m thinking about starting a tower so I could take it and show it to the kids. 😁🪱

The Can-O-Worms is the original one from Tumbleweed. That's the one I bought in 2009. 🪱💓🪱💓🪱
