Peter Aerts is a man who transcends legend. He's fought and beaten some of the toughest names in kickboxing, for over twenty years. At GLORY 13 Tokyo, he fights his final fight versus a rising star twenty years his junior, Rico Verhoeven.
Wow.... Aerts has been fighting for 20+ years and a 3x times K1 Champion and still kicking butt in his 40s :) Congratulation Aerts.

Somewhere i hoped he stopped like ernesto hoost, and lived on his legend, but aerts is to much of a ringwarrior to stop. He got punched in the face allot, you can see he got trouble speaking some time. K1 LEGEND 4 EVER.

I used to be fan of him when watching his old highlights long ago, and props to his braveness but.. His defense is so terrible it's hard to believe he is one of the best lol. At least keep your hands at your head. He only moves back or looks away but that's bad too. I mean he was still decent for sure at this age but this defense is not something he could be too old for, that surprises me. Should use more head movement, ducking shots, rolling etc.. It's kickboxing not boxing but Aerts took more shots/damage than he should've..

If you watch Aerts vs. Hoost in 1995, it becomes very hard to imagine Jamal Ben Saddik lasting a round with either of those men in their prima. It seems kind off crazy to me that Jamal is actually a top heavyweight these days. The technique, conditioning and power was so much sharper in the glory days of K1.

The doctor's stoppages worked in Aerts's favour, in my opinion, as he was able to recover and win after the first few knockdowns. That being said, Saddik's sloppy boxing and bad cardio didn't help him in the second round.

To be honest it was a lot harder than it looks, Ben Sadiq is almost 16kg's heavier and much bigger than Peter, and has also a significant reach advantage. Furthermore Peter is getting old and more susceptible to injuries because of his many fights, nothing but respect for the ole lumberjack

What a warrior Aerts is, showed once again why he is loved so much. Technically not a beautiful fighter, but you cannot deny his hearth, which made him come back and beat guys like Semmy Schilt, Saddik etc.
