Boric acid is way better than Borax, they are both derived from Boron but thats all. The 2 are completely different chemicals. Some ants won't go near Borax but are not worried by Boric acid
Fantastic content. So many Filipinos tell me ants and roaches are just part of the climate and experience of living here. You have proven we are able to conquer the environments
Borax works wonders with ants where I live in Northern Nevada, USA. I MIX 4 parts sugar to 1 part Borax, sometimes I tear up tiny bits of bread to add to the mix. I just add enough water to dissolve everything. Because we don't have any pets or small children, we put the mixture on wax paper. Within 24 hours, the majority of the ants are gone. Because our air is so dry, we sometimes have to put out a second batch a day later, because the water in the mixture drys out.
Isn't it amazing how many times it is the simple, basic and very cost effective natural approach that often works the best. Thank You for sharing this most information packed pair of videos on pest control. Greetings from Ontario, Canada.
This fantastic !!! A friend of mine told me about how he cleared his house of all insects by your method. And his house was completely overrun and infested with all three. Roaches, Ants and Termites. I currently don’t really have too many of any of them, but I do have a couple of areas where I’ve noticed saw dust falling from some of the rafters in my basement and I’m definitely going to try this. Love Ya Man !!!! Faubus
Important to note that hasn't been noted...do not use the same scoop or spoon for borax and sugar. Not if you plan to use that sugar later. You will get sick. I know it sounds obvious to most..but still should be said for those who don't know.
I can attest to the effectiveness of the borax and sugar solution for ants. I’ve used it to successfully manage the ant population inside and outside of my home. Going to try the cockroach mix and hopefully that will do the trick to get rid of those pesky critters as well. Thanks!
We just moved into a place with a lot of ants, I'm not a fan of poisonous sprays, so I turned to borax, didn't measure much, just added very hot water, a bunch of sugar, mixed well and added generous amount of borax, soaked a piece of pancake and went to bed, the next day half the pancake was gone, only a few ants crawling around and 2 dead roaches, I'll follow your steps here, easier to put those jars instead of pancakes everywhere hehe Btw awesome editing ! Very enjoyable to watch both episodes, even it could have been squeezed into a 3 minute video, I don't feel like I wasted my time watching the whole thing, we'll done holding my attention, I'm a big time jumper in videos, only need the facts, but you did it so well, kudos for your efforts with the borax methods and proof of effect. Big cheers from Mindanao
Just a note, on the cockroach batis reducing in volume, its due to the sugar and borax, that is a very dry mixture, absorbing moisture from he air and dissolving, reducing in volume as the mixture melts into a liquid.
Not sure what roaches you have, but normally they like warm damp places. German roach is attracted to heat, that is why they get into your fridge motors and electronics.
This is the Philippines, it's hot and damp everywhere, so I'm guessing they are looking for similar places, where your bathroom might be considered cold, it's rarely below 25°C here during nights.
Excellent video(s)! For roaches, I have always used roach tablets (which have been around for ages) which use a boron and flour mixture, but which is probably a little more expensive than your ingenious method. In any case, they work winders, but you do have to have a little (not a lot) of patience. Because I have cats and feed then near my house, I will always attract roaches, but the tablets (or your mix) both work wonders at drastically reducing the population. I hardly see them, though there is the occasional one or two. Then I find them either dead or near-dead. But I am going to try the ant mixture for ants I get in my yard. They are not a big problem, just a nuisance, but I would love to see them gone! From what I’ve read, in Ecuador it is mandatory that all wood used for housing be pretreated with boron (borax is a type of boron). This completely eliminates the need for any subsequent chemical pesticides except in rare cases where water leakage has somehow soaked into the wood so much that all the boron in your house has washed away. (& if that happens, you’re probably already underwater anyway!).
A lot of time and patience involved in this experiment. However, it proved to be most effective. I honestly believed only a few here and there would be caught. The pile up of dead bodies most impressive. Thank you for this video. It was appreciated.
I have heard chalk lines also work. The ants won't cross the line as it gets on them and dries them up. So if you draw a chalk line on your window sills and in doorways or where there trail is, they avoid it.
Well im glad i orderd some borax for Roches and came here to see if it actully works or not cuz many ppl say u need borax .. They told to boil a potato and put 1 egg 1 tps borax mix them well and make little balls with them and let them there and it works like magic and keep being magic for 1 year!! Will see .. Thank you for ur hard work in info
Thank you I enjoyed both videos and the amount of work you put into this I myself am experimenting with this as we speak I want these problems gone they have been persistent for this winter but now I'm in hunting mode☠
Just some feedback: i have made your ant bait exactly to the 5;3;1 ratio. We in South Africa also have red ants exactly like those, but they don't seem to be interested in a sugar solution. :( What recipe would you recommend for "protein" ants? I have seen them eat dog food, bread, rusks, or carb/protein food.
For protein ants I grind up chicken very fine and mix the borax with it. You can also mix it with peanut butter for a greasy protein paste you can spread.
Because sugar is hygroscopic and sucks water out of everything, like the air. That's why if your mom tries to be original and make you a peanut butter and M and M sandwich, by lunch the bread is dry as Styrofoam.😂 The sugar shell sucks all the moisture out.
Thank you for the vid. have used this method for ants for close to 50 years. We now spinkle borax and sugar every two weeks in the summer months to maintain.. However, Please forgive me. but much of your insect issue would be eleviated if your kitchen and surrounding areas were CLEANED. Some of the effort you put into the insect problem should be redirected towards a clean environment.
I have to agree this is the way to solve your alternate pest problem but if you own a pet (dog and cat) into your house then don't use borax because its fatal.
Ok here is the real & easy solution. You mentioned Pesos, which means that you are not living in US or Canada. Good, because you can buy chemicals much more easily and at far less price. Get a kilo of pure Boric Acid, it comes in powder form. Trust me it’s not acid like sulphuric acid 😊 You can touch it, no harm. But if you feel uncomfortable then wear rubber or latex gloves. Sprinkle the powder along edges & corners along the walls. In the kitchen use plastic or newspaper covers on shelves, then sprinkle the powder under the covers. No more roaches, ants or any insects. Only caution: it’s highly slippery so don’t drop it on the floors or someone will slip & fall. Also avoid food contamination.
@@bellattery Yes - but then the soda dries up / I used too much borax and not enough soda but it definitely worked. Also found a roach or two dead and I never seen a roach here before.
Yes! 100% fatal. Be selective on where you place the borax. You wil be fine if you place the Borax away from dogs, cats, and children. I wish you the best.
Your borax concentration is too high for the any bait. It needs to be less than 5%. It will then take longer to kill them and allow them to take it back to the queen and the babies this eliminating the entire colony.
@Vista-gn1pb In a forest, desert, and so on, ants, roaches, and termites are useful scavengers, breaking down dead animals and plants. In a human dwelling area they are only a source of destruction, disease, direct injury, and house fires. (They can wind up eating electrical wire insulation.) A rose is a weed in a corn field.
Unless I actually see the roach eat it this is not believable. Also pest company's use borax by dusting not feeding it to them. Guess it might work that way but naw maybe catch a roach next time put in it a container and film . 👌
"cold and dark places" they're not going to eat it when you're there, borax dry dusting could work but that's dangerous to every living thing in the house they seriously need to be vigilant when doing that. filming them for a long period of time would require lots of storage space which no one has but that is a fair point.

One last point to make, if you only see one or 2 roaches during the day, chance's are your infestation is in the thousands in the walls.
Yuck!
Very well-done series. I like your scientific mind. Plan to make your ant poison myself one of these days. Keep up the good work.

what type of sugar is best
Plain white granulated. Whir it in your food processor or blender to make it 10x first.
Will this kill termites

Does it matter that the sugar borax mix gets rock hard?

Not true. It is about as toxic as table salt and tastes horrible to mammals. Very bitter.
