Bend Oregon Things to Do - Skiing and Craft Beer

Bend, Oregon is an adult Disneyland of the Pacific Northwest! Bend has more breweries per capita than any other city in the United States. It's also home to some of the finest ski areas in the region, so we decided to put them all to the test and take you along for the ride.
Our first stop was Bevel Craft Brewing. Founded by two world champion disc golfers, it boasts a hop forward beer menu with a number of IPA's on tap and with food carts surrounding its outdoor seating that enticed us into trying out the “Ahi Tuna Nachos”.
Next up was Crux Fermentation Project. Founded by a former brew master from Deschutes Brewery, Crux quickly became a regional success and continues to pump out some of the world’s finest craft beers. We sat down with it’s owner, Larry Sidor, over a flight of beers and talked beer philosophy, what makes Bend such an amazing place for craft beer fans and why he thinks craft beer is winning over so many female non-beer fans.
To burn off our beer calories, we next went to one of the crown jewels of the Pacific Northwest ski areas, Mt. Bachelor resort. Just 30 minutes outside of Bend, Mt. Bachelor offers some of the driest snow in the region along with a large number of blue sky ski days, as well as the six most skiable acreage in the country.
Not to be out done, we decided to relive one of our teen years favorite pastimes by enjoying some night skiing at Hoodoo Ski area at Santiam Pass. Hoodoo is not as pristine as Bachelor, nor does it offer the same acreage of lightness of powder, but it does have night skiing that’s not available elsewhere in Central Oregon and an amazing beer and nachos offering for that relaxing apres ski.
