    "Am I talking too much?" asks the great Peter Cushing, a man whose towering talent was matched by equally powerful qualities of humility, sensitivity and kindness. A truly wonderful star and human being. We shall not see his like again.

    For Christopher Lee to say "He was too good for this world" really tells you what so many thought about Peter. A great actor and kind soul!

    I cannot describe how much I would have loved to have known this man, he's everything I wanted to be as a boy and remains so as a man to this day.
    He truly was "too good for this world".

    Greatest of all time. My favorite. He states "Never Bored with Any part no matter how many times he played the Character." It showed in his work. Thats why he was the best. Incredibly believable in every part he played. Best actor in all the Hammer films he did. No one was better. No One! I miss you Mr Cushing. Thank you for making the Horror films I love legit to this day.

      Real people, wonderful person, great actor, artist well talented and truly devoted to his wife and friends, also believe that you don't die you just leave the body behind and the soul just keep going. Today's male don't have that type of substance and man are not men . As a man, how sad. Only thing we can do is to take a leaf out of his book . And Christopher Lee +plus Vincent Price . Taylor Monroe have a nice day

    Wish I was born in a time where I may have got the chance to meet this great man. No one has anything bad to say about him and he seemed such a nice gentlemen and yet could play dark sinister roles with no effort. I think the saddest part of this video is when the narrator at the end says that Peter said he will see everyone again at his 90th which of course unfortunately didn't happen :(

    • @hcu4359
      @hcu4359 7 місяців тому

      I kind of liked that part just because I liked what it implied about his attitude. Christopher Lee commented once to interviewers that his friend lasted twelve years with cancer because "he was a fighter" and I think the bravado about everyone reuniting in ten years for his 90th is a bit of a glimpse into that mindset.

    I have great admiration for those like Cushing, who while fantastic actors aren't afraid of, and might even relish in the opportunity of starring in productions that some people might consider 'below them' in terms of not being sophisticated enough. They have a tendancy to elevate those movies or shows, which without them would be fairly unimpressive, into cult classics.
    Donald Pleasence is another great example, as are Max von Sydow and Timothy Dalton.

    "Aren't you bored playing the same old characters?" Well I suppose he would if he was merely going through the motions but Peter DID go through the motions, a 100 times in his mind until he was satisfied with the motions, everything he did onscreen was considered, he wrang every last drop out of every pixel

    "Am I talking too much?" - meanwhile I'm here on YT exactly to listen to him talking

    • @hcu4359
      @hcu4359 6 місяців тому

      When he says that here, he seems to be having trouble figuring out how best to say what he's thinking (in response to a rather insulting question which basically asked him whether he's a sociopath like his Frankenstein) and getting nervous/panicky as a result. I've seen him ask "am I talking too much?" in other interviews; I'd have to rewatch them to see if it's a stalling tactic there as well.

    in 1973 Cushing already looked so frail, does anyone know if he was already ill during that time? did his wifes death maybe have something to do with it? maybe he had an eating disorder.

    • @hcu4359
      @hcu4359 25 днів тому

      There's a lot of theories as to why he lost weight so dramatically in that period. There are references to him suffering from nausea in the 70s and not eating very much as a result. My own theory is that he became a much more aggressive smoker in this period, possibly to the level at which nicotine intake causes nausea.

      The death of his wife took a toll on him.
      "The effects of his wife's death proved to be as much physical as mental. For his role in Dracula A.D. 1972, Cushing (who was 58) had originally been cast as the father of Stephanie Beacham's character, but had aged so visibly and lost so much weight that the script was hastily rewritten to make him her grandfather" -- Peter Cushing biography on wikipedia.

    Peter Cushing in 1973 was 60 in this footage and not 80 and you call yourself a "Peter Cushing Appreciation Society" - what a joke!

    • @theblackboxclub
      @theblackboxclub  3 роки тому +13

      er. Maybe you need to watch the WHOLE thing? It's TWO videos. Peter interviewed at 60 and the other video, at his surprise 80th, see that... 80th birthday party. Feeling silly now? ..and yes, we are the Peter Cushing Appreciation Society., you got that bit right. Next time, read the title watch the all video, not everything can be simplified and edited down into simple bites for ya ... sorry...

      You are the one that should feel silly for not writing out the title correctly. For a better and clearer example:
      'Peter Cushing Interview (1973) and including his 80th Birthday Party Footage (1993) in part two'. The way that you wrote the title could be interpreted as his 80th birthday party from 1973.
