2020 MINI Cooper S Cabin Air Filter Replacement

EDIT: THE AIR FLOW DIRECTION SHOWN IN THE VIDEO IS OPPOSITE TO THE CORRECT FLOW. AIR FILTER ARROWS SHOULD POINT TOWARDS THE CABIN, NOT TOWARDS THE ENGINE.

One extra helpful tip - when pulling down the panel under the glove box, the clip on the left side can be released by inserting a screwdriver into the rectangular hole next to the hole where the Torx screw was. The hole is towards you, and if you depress towards the center of the car this will release the clip easily without any tugging or snapping, and reduces the chance of breaking the clip.
Thanks for the helpful video - I finally got this done, but I agree with everyone else that this is the most painful cabin air filter replacement I've ever had to do an ANY car, MINI or otherwise!

You nailed it! Anyone with 2020 and newer Cooper Hardtop needs to know that there is a plastic cover under the glove box that needs to be removed before the side panel can be removed to access the cabin air filters. I disconnected the speaker wire and footwell lamp wire when removing panels to create more room - I found the connectors very easy to disconnect. Correction on the direction of air-flow - the arrows on the filters should point toward the cabin not the engine. Lastly, when removing the filters, I found it helpful to simply wiggle them a bit as you gently but consistently pull outward on them - makes it much easier. Having said that, this job is SOOOO much more difficult than it needs to be. Shame on you MINI engineering team. It was easier in my R56. WTF??

Thanks for the comment! I've added an edit to the description to clarify the correct air flow direction. I suppose the last person to change mine put them in wrong.
Absolutely agree that this job has become unnecessarily difficult! I changed the filter on my 2007 cooper the same day and it took me 10 mins as opposed to 1 hour+ on this one haha!

For uk viewers as seems mostly American videos showing this, Just did this on a f56 2017 RHD, mine was by the clutch footrest, I didn’t remove the foot rest it was easier as the door didn’t come fully off then you can pull the door and up gently so it rests on the foot rest abit, it’s abit of a dumb design as don’t know if the bottom filter is properly set before putting top filter in!
I pulled off the left hand side and the panel under the glove box and wondered where the hell it was 😅
Then looked at the right hand side you can see the filter door peaking at you over the panel! You need a T20 torx
Good luck it’s not that bad took 10 minutes once I finally found

Just curious, the air flow direction is not the same as what I saw on UA-cam. The rest of them are facing towards the driver.
