I heard this song for the first time in 2006 I believe. I was on a long car trip with my thankfully ex-wife. I had finally gotten to the point where I wouldn’t push for my music very often, but it was as I said a long car ride, and really just didn’t want to listen to any more journey, My chemical romance, or the soundtrack to glee. I put this on because I was in love with the song. And she Gave me somewhat of an indignant look, and asked me what I could possibly see in music like this. Which I could understand if maybe we had just met, or didn’t know one another at all, yes, I could see that it would’ve just made me come across like a pretentious asshole trying to flex my obscure music knowledge on someone who obviously did not give a shit, but we were married at the time. So I answered her with something I had actually thought to myself while listening to the track at one point. Basically kind of a visualization of what this song made me feel like. This is it, verbatim; “The first part sounds like an ancient ceremony where the elders of some sacred Eastern temple have to gather all the Chi available to them, to give to a little girl so that in the second part of the song she could drag the sun up a mountain to lift it back in the sky. And she dies once she’s done. But she’s okay with that. She didn’t get it. I can’t remember if she accused me of just making that up, which I mean I essentially did, I mean, that’s what using your imagination is, or if she was just silent. She was a sweet girl, just not for me. And not because of music, that’s really shallow. but I’m sure you can pick up on the character, ratherPersonality clash. We just were two pieces of a puzzle that didn’t belong together.
I’ve had similar experience with ex’s. I’ve come to learn incredibly shallow when it comes to music. I don’t expect everyone to like what I like.. but I believe everyone should be open to listening to new music at least once. It’s hard to be in a relationship when they’re not open to listen to things you do. I got so lucky because my GF now has better taste in music than I do. She started sharing music with me like Can, Captain Beefheart, Oto, Wire, Talkng Heads, King Crimson and so on. I instantly fell in love. 😍
This is the first thing I ever heard of by the Boredoms. If you want to continue the trip, I suggest Terry Riley's In C, Shri Camel, Persian Surgery Dervishes, or A Rainbow in Curved Air; maybe you'll also like Moondog or Pauline Oliveros.
K, I just discovered the boredoms today, how the hell is that possible? For that matter, how the hell is this possible, for music to be this incredible, in the first place?
If you love this then you`ll love Altan Urag the song is Blue Mark. I`ve recently notice that some of boredoms music sounds like Mongoloan which I like alot also. Altan Urag style reminds me of Punk music of the 80`s. Enjoy, Peace
@ausfoolia1111 He talks about playing with "great bands like the Bordoms" in the Nardwar interview. He had been bored a day or two in his life I think...

This comment had a big part in shaping my musical tastes over the past few years. Thank you!
Good recs. I’d also add Les Rallizes Denudes, Fishmans, ROVO, Acid Mothers Temple, Boris, Can, Faust, early Verve, Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized.
