@DrSquidley Relax. Now they are 4,997. :) But it's very well, this kind of masterpiece MUST have a few number of listeners, to not mix with genious like the MILLIONS AND MILLIONS who listen you know what.
Even though I love everything about Mingus and especially BSSL, I really find the flamenco stuff around 2 mins so out of place and disturbing. It's like when the Beatles tried to make experimental music (Number nine, number nine, number nine, number nine), you almost felt the need to say "Just don't." Mingus here sounds like he's intentionally trying to explore "diverse" genres instead of his creativity guiding itself towards them. Group Dancers though. Beautiful.
The irony is that this piece, to me, is beautiful because there is so much pain, torment and cofusion within it.
Man, this is one of the best songs ever, not only in jazz
greatest record ever.

What is that muffled voice that comes in briefly at 5:26? Any theories on who it is or what they're saying?
Realized I can only hear it with headphones... it's on the right channel. Sounds like Mingus saying "God damnit"?
Drasla lol
Drasla that;s exactly what I heard
its criminal this has only 450 views
Listen right after 5:24. With decent headphones - you can hear Mingus say something, maybe "God Damn It"?
que ricaa!
