If it had been you've heard about it long before the stories were on the Internet because the soap magazines would have reported it which they never did. But if you look at his career--he was off doing concerts while working on a daytime soap, he was on both prime time and daytime at the same time, or the fact that when he wasn't on a daytime show, he was away making movies, when did he really have time for all these secret affairs + he's an avid golfer who spends as much time as he can playing golf when he's not working and taking part in charity golf tournaments. There are many actresses that would love to have their names linked to his and would love to claim he had an affair with him if it would boost their career. None of us know what really happened in their marriage, only they do, and they've never talked about their relationship or the problems they had. He's worked steadily for nearly 37 years and there's plenty of actors or actresses who would put rumors out there to try and ruin his career if they could because they're jealous of his talent. I'm sure he put a lot of effort into his career, more so than his marriage to have that kind of success. It takes 2 people to make a marriage work and if both don't put forth the effort, who's to say that that isn't the reason it didn't work. I don't believe this song was about his daughter. There's an article I read with an interview about him reuniting with his daughter. In it he stated that in 88 he got a call from the woman and she said she just had a baby and it was his, she couldn't take care of the child so she's giving her up for adoption. He stated he got a lawyer to see what he could do but it was out of his hand. In this song if you listen to the lyric he says he still love her whatever she do. Most of his word in the song matches his relationship with kw during that time so I believe he was talking about kw and himself and their child. They started dating in 90 she got preggo right away and had their first child in 91.
