Massive project, respect for taking it on. 👍Here's me thinking 3 phase ended at the meter box 😂🤣. It goes to show how underspecified the average UK home is for power to future devices.😲
Having floorboard is very useful, in our house it’s going to be very annoying because my parents decided to fill the whole cavity space on the ground floor with hard core material and cement on the top (we’ve got gas/water/radiator pipes and electrical stuff under there that were never gonna be able to get to any more any work we do is going to have to be done via the stairs and then up to the first floor and then back down to the ground floor
I’m surprised the old gas supply pipe wasn’t removed at the same time. That cable looks like it was a bit difficult! Definitely going to be going for some bifacials I reckon with optimisers in the future episode I bet 😊
Great video! I was wondering if you'd seen Cory Mac from Oy Electrical's video on trying to use a Jaguar I-pace battery as a home storage device? Very interesting stuff, had to hack around with the CAN bus to get it to allow him to un-isolate(?) the high voltage systems :)
Yes I have. Seems like a dream team with Cory and Chris. Chris's brains and Cory's enthusiasm. Can bus gets a little over my head. I might need to learn...
Hmmmmm . The swa requires a switch fuse which won’t fit in the meter box . Add a 2nd meter box next to the existing one to comply with all regulations.
Not seeing the 16mm CPC also how did you terminate the armour (take it it's 25mm 4 conductor) I used a wiska box, cutting a slot to mate up to the 4 pole isolation and used a storm gland at the bottom on the other side to allow plenty of slack to make connections easy.
25mm 5 core. Was going to go 4 core and separate CPC but decided to keep it together and only have to deal with one gland at each end. Gives me a good Ze atleast. 0.17 if I remember correctly. I used standard indoor glands. Not used a storm gland yet. They look nice
yikes that 5c gonna be a pig to terminate into that board, personally a 16mm 4 core with a separate earth and 80a fuses in the switch fuse would for been moreeee then adequate
@@Shanky_TH9540 despite having 3 phase 16mm tails don’t fit with future plans. We will eventually have 2 x 3 phase ev chargers. Battery storage. Solar. And Heat Pump. I won’t rest until I max out a 100amp 3 phase domestic connection 😂😂
im installing 2 of them in parallel, any feedback how the battery is doing? is it holding the charge and discharge, what problem are you encountering now that is all finished?
I went down a distance learning route. Self funded large from home with practical sessions in centre.. what specifically are you finding that you’re stuck on?
completely agree, terminating a 5core 25mm swa in a domestic setting is not a easy job, he's gonna struggle when it comes to fitting a 3phase fused isolator in the existing external meter cabinet, 100% going to need a second cabinet
Yeah those fused isolators don’t fit in a DNO supplied meter box with a cut out, Meter and existing isolator. They all in my view are set up for commercial / industrial and overkill for domestic from a manufacturing point of view but that’s probs a good thing

Gulps as he considers the truthfulness of what you just said

O tell me about it. The disadvantage is it’s the one space we loose the most heat in winter. I imagine that’s why your parents filled it ?
You're doing an amazing job!
Might need to get you to do mine too!
I’ve discovered one most people don’t put EV batteries on their house. It gets complicated quickly. Certainly makes the UA-cam video more exciting
@@TheOfficialBatteryMan it's certainly not your average run of the mill thing.

Yep. Pain in the arse. A wall full of meter boxes and a £200 switch fuse. DNO didn’t actually care for the over 3 meters needing one surprisingly
@@TheOfficialBatteryMan You don't need a fused switch if you are running 25mm SWA.
@@timballam3675 you got a reg for that? Will be good to look up. Thanks for that

Hey, what brand and model of inverter are you going to use with you Tesla battery?
Thanks for the videos keep up the great work!
You will find out in next video
Looks a bit Huawei to me

also doesn't look like there will be room for three phase switch in that metre cabinet? surely you will need a seperate external cabinet?
You are right. Not enough room in the cabinet for a switched fuse. No one tells you how awkward 5 core 25mm2 SWA is until you’ve done it 😂😂
@@TheOfficialBatteryMan that's something you only learn from experience as an electrician,....16mm 4c would have been soooooo much easier lol
@@TheOfficialBatteryMan any updates yet? im pretty certain your gonna need a second external metre cabinet for that 3phase switch fuse!
