This is a cut of my last three videos all together, with added footage of the design drawing stage. This video is a little on the long side so make a cup of tea and sit back and relax. I might do a shorter version at some point.
Each piece of this beautiful ring is made by hand using a blend of ancient and modern techniques to the highest standards. Great care is taken over even the smallest part. This is the in the series taking an in depth look at my jewellery making process.
This video will take you through every stage of making this amazing ring from start to finish. Including melting gold, forging and rolling out the metal, saw piercing fine parts, making a 4 claw setting from scratch, soldering platinum and gold, laser welding, micro setting, engraving scrollwork, diamond setting, and polishing. I plan to also do a version with the design drawings as well.

Thanks:) I apprenticed with an Australian goldsmith named Rodger who was working here in the UK at the time. After he went home, I set up on my own but continue, to this day, to find experts in particular areas to learn from 👍

As a relatively new Jeweler I would have really appreciated you talking about what you were doing and why. If you didn't want to talk through the video some notes on the screen from time to time explaining what you were doing, tools you were using, etcetera would have been enjoyable. Your work is stunning

I took jewelry making in high school a long time ago. I made a few things of silver with wire and pre made ring molding. I remember how difficult it was to work with such a small object. I even carved a ring out of wax and unfortunately didn’t measure the amount of metal correctly. I ended up with the ring missing the top part of the carving. I was so devastated. It took hours to carve the ring.

My dream ring is a wide 15k yellow gold band with a 2.5 carat round, yellow (Canary) Diamond on it. Plain. Simple. Classic. I wouldn’t mind a lab grown canary Diamond.

Nejla and me romantic. The emotion behind the token promise for the endless story. I’m a Lapidarist and cut stones but I’ve just taken up my other now hobby of Silversmithing. Everyth8ng made, has emotion. You’re worried about the ‘giver’ being honest, I think. You are correct. A real Zircon ring is about 25 times more valuable than common diamonds. Most real stones have survived for way more than 10,000 years, plus a stone can be repolished on a Lapidary Wheel so any stone you choose will be perfect for you. Choose your partner well friend.
