You are a life saver! I just started having this problem in my 03 durango. I deliver pizzas so I've been freaking out and over thinking the problem for about a week
Good video! thanks. My 2006 durango's light just came on last week. It's a work in progress, always fixing something... I have a 2003 durango that has been much more reliable!
I run a '97 Dodge Dakota Sport, 2WD/RWD, 3.9L v6. Also have this problem, I couldnt remember where sensor was and the tab type, thanks for the vid, I've had this problem randomly, but been fine the past 6 months, engine is relatively good, good oil, it might seem like a waste but I change mine every 3k and run full synthetic, did two system "flushes" if you want to call it that before the final swap to full synthetic, and a drastic difference, oil gauge just started back up last night, so I'm gona have to get back under, and I'm actually due for my next change in about 100m, so I guess it works out since I can just do them both while I'm under, changing out all bushings as well. Gona be a busy day, you and everyone else stay up and stay safe.
Greetings ! Just to b on safe side..have U checked if u might have a nick on wire of tab ? Mine did as in vid posted. I just taped electrical tape around the nick..just saying..good luck !!
@@texascoastwandererkayakfis672 yea, I have, everything is good there, but my oil sending unit is also weak so I'll be replacing that as well, a hassle but meh
@@texascoastwandererkayakfis672 Just finished the job on a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.7L (same as Durango you should put that in your search key). I did it at the same time as an oil change which made it much easier to access. The red tab on the plug was a mofo to get undone-- that was by far the hardest part. I had to hit it with some carb cleaner to get all the crud off it before I could even see it. Ultimately i was able to slide the tab using a small pick. Once installed it fixed the problem. Thanks again.
Can't find any info on my exact scenario. My oil light was working fine, why did changing the single wire on/off pressure switch that operates the light cause my gauge to start working.
Thank you for the video. But I got the same thing. But I had a issue with the socket wouldn't fit. So I had to take off the cover and it fit right over it
Hey by chance when this issue happened did the check gage light come on and oil pressure drop when the brakes were applied? Then all return to normal when driving? So on so forth? My 4.7 ram is having that issue and I’m winding if it’d also this
Hey Gates ! No sir.. I was just driving when I noticed oil pressure down to Zero.. no brakes applied. I believe no check engine light came on .. I just happened to look down at gauges.. hope u get issue resolved! Thanks for watching 👍
@@texascoastwandererkayakfis672 thanks for the video, ended up being the pressure switch, it was just telling my engine stupid stuff when I’d hit the brakes. I’m glad it wasn’t nothing else
I was having a problem where my oil gauge would go to zero when I would stop at a stop light after running it for a little bit. I install the new one of these,Which fix the problem although once I installed it occasionally whenever I started the truck it would read low oil pressure. So I would turn off the ignition and restart it which would cause it to go back to normal.wonder why it does this....???any ideas?
Greetings ! U might want to check if one of the wires to the sensor might have a nick on it. Mine did.. I just wrapped some electrical tape around the nick .. that’s before I discovered liquid electrical tape.. let me know how it goes 👍
@@texascoastwandererkayakfis672 well I ended up putting an aftermarket gauge in and turns out my oil pressure has been fine this whole time. It was just an electrical problem
@@onetakemotivation7615 glad to hear chief !! Unfortunately my awesome Durango has a blown head gasket 😞. I have a 2004 Dodgeram 4.7 My Oil Pressure gauge when I first start it in the morning won't read it stays on 0 . so I shut it off and restart it and it comes up. I have oil in it. But if it sits a long periond I have to turn off and restart anyone have any ideas?
Hey David ! I would just replace the oil sensor switch. It's not expensive.. Under $20.00 bucks I believe.. and easy to install, my issue has not come back since. It does get scarry when you see pressure at zero..lol.. But I'm sure that's all it is sir. Good Luck !
No disrespect brother, but take better care of your tools.....................LMAO................No worries bro, just give'n you $#!T. Thanks for the video. Be safe
Lol.. trust me.. I am the worlds worst in being a knucklehead of not taking care of them 😩. I leave them out .. clear beautiful day here in Texas.. then crap.. out of nowhere rain showers.. 😬appreciate stopping by my channel 💯!
Mine is a 2002 Dodge Durango RT and on the switch for the 4wd it says AWD which is what it stays in all the time, and it also says 4wd lo, and 4wd hi! So yes there is a AWD 4wheel drive as the manual states the same thing! Just thought I'd put that out there since I just purchased this vehicle 2 weeks ago and was confused myself at first!
Good information to know. I’ve an 02 Durango with the same engine. Really appreciate it.

very, good at explaining and showing as much as possible. thank you
Thank for the great video. Will likely solve my son's problem and something I can easily do next time I change the oil.
I hope it helped !! Thank you for the comments !!

Looks like you squared it away. Thanks for sharing. Let’s see some fishing!

Good video bro I got a 4.7 in a Dodge ram 1500 and what was causing the wire to be skint in the first place

That kinda problems freaks me out.. Thank god eazy fix!
A one and one sixteen socket will also work if you don't have the 27 mm socket
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Is there a way to disconnect the sensor to stop the annoying chime?
It's a 1 1/6 right? And what fan belt isn't this? On the back side of the engine that's where mine is.
I would remove and replace the oil filter while you are at it, You will have a Little more room to work in.

Need to torque to correct specs
How many times can you say slt plus. It's not all wheel drive , you can't have both a awd and 4wd vehicle buddy
U would b surprised how many ppl sometimes don't get it ! I'd rather repeat myself in a vid then go back n text them..lol..
