The lightening flickered and I could only count 1 second between the bursts, it was like being in a disco with strobes, I have never seen anything like it - I got up to watch it., And I am nearly 70 and have lived abroad experiencing incredible thunderstorms as well. The This time though the thunder just rumbled continuously until around 3.20am and when it finally stopped the silence was eerie. There were also hailstones - I opened the windows. Just amazing.
