    Alan Dershowitz is right about something. The 90s Supreme court had Alabama's Supreme court remove its ten commandments from Roy Moore's court. That was a fight and half, he defied them all the way. Unfortunately this isn't that court.

      @@BeeN-fy2jh So - you agree then that Louisiana's law is unconstitutional based on your own quote of the First Amendment. By posting the 10 commandments in a publicly funded venue like a school, the LA government is promoting an establishment of a particular religion. Because it's a religious document. And by not posting them, no one is prohibiting anyone's private free exercise of religion.

    • @chrisholiday3273

      @@BeeN-fy2jh The term separation of church and state is NOT in the Constitution, it is from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson to a group of ministers who were worried that the government was going to tell them what to preach like the King of England did with the Church of England. He was assuring them that this would not happen in the new country and the law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof was the fulfillment that the government would not dictate what churches could preach or teach. If your position is that these white, English men who lived 250 years ago were NOT religious and did not include general references to God and religion all through our founding documents you are wrong. Also, which religion does the Ten Commandments promote? The Christians use it, the Jews use it, and other religions have similar standards.

      - US CONSTITUTION
      "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen; and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.” -Article 11, Treaty of Tripoli (Signed by President John Adams)
      James Madison had a good bit to say on the subject. (1803): “The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe in blood for centuries.” He even said: “Besides the danger of a direct measure of religion and civil government, there is an evil which ought to be guarded against in the indefinite accumulation of property from the capacity of holding it in perpetuity by ecclesiastical corporations."

    Even as a conservative, I know separation of church and state is important, and it’s the law. The conservative justices need to put aside their personal feelings, and do the right thing. I know this case will end up there.

      Ironically, people don't know history. Jefferson wrote explicitly to the Danbury Baptists about the wall of separation to assure them that the government would not establish a religion that could persecute them. ironically, it seems that some of their descendants are interested in imposing that same religion on everyone.

    When Moses came down and saw the golden calf, the Lord said in Exodus 32:10, " now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them; but of you I will make a great nation". It doesn't matter what Alan thinks or what you think. It only matters what God says. No graven images. Alan's true colors have now come out. All of the Bible, the purpose and intention of our lives and the definition of sin are explained in Matthew 7:21 "...not everyone who says 'Lord Lord' will be saved but only those who do His will. Sin is ANYTHING that is not God's will and....anything that is not God's will....is not real because God will not look upon sin and at some point He'll wipe it all out, hold judgment day and start all over which is the analog to Exodus 32:10. 1 Samuel 8 shows where God is rejected for "the state" and Isaiah 9 shows where the Lord will "sit on the throne of David" forever, clearing out all "states" which are man made and not real.

    Where is the commandment to obey borders between countries?

    • @jonathandnicholson
      @jonathandnicholson 4 дні тому

      The Ten Commandments are general instructions which the Torah defines and refines as well as the Sermon on the Mount. The Sermon on the Mount and atonement literature of St Paul et al deals with the morality whereas the Torah deals with the legality. Also, the Ten Commandments are from about 3500 years ago even though Christianity spread the word of God like wildfire. Christianity is Messianic Judaism (different to Rabbinical Judaism), a belief that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the Son of Man, promised through the prophet Daniel et al rather than something totally new. The Bible is a collection of books written at various points, but the Ten Commandments were written before Israel was even created.
      Do not do drugs? 'You shall have no other god before Me. Drug use can also be opposed through the instruction to love your neighbour because the word love is to will the good of the other, as other, for their sake. That is the Biblical good not an abstract and/or general momentary pleasure or positive. Should drugs be illegal in strict Christian and legalistic terms? Probably not. As for drugs border restrictions do not come from the Ten Commandments explicitly. Although, respect for the nation you were born into is an extension of honouring your mother and father (this command is also about the respect for hierarchy, hierarchy meaning Holy Order). Also, from other parts of the Bible such as God creating order out of chaos and loving your neighbour, not centering the fringe, that all members of the nation are to conform to shared standards etc (neighbour and stranger are to be treated similarly - the Holy Code is to intensify the legal standards for the observant which the New Testament further intensifies the moral aspect of God's laws). Furthermore, the burden would be on the immigrant not to be covetous and having respect for the civil authority etc (given God's laws are eternally and universally true). Think of it as applying eternal principles to the current day.
