The most important reason that Trump needs to be sentenced to prison, is to send the message to future presidents that being president is not a free pass to commit crimes.

As a non American investor with no knowledge or interest in American poliics I was 100% cash before the last American election. The risk of Trump starting a civil war or picking a war with another state just to get re elected was to high to be ignored. It wasn't hard to see the risk.

Michael Cohen was sentenced to 3 years and served 12 months for doing Trump's dirty work on this exact crime (although he was returned to Otisville Prison for a short time for a parole violation). If I were the judge, I would sentence Trump to 3x that...9 years and he can serve 3 years.
