Once again , here's some more Orbital from the Bluedot Festival at the Jodrell Bank Observatory . This time we have the still amazing track 'Halcyon' . Long live Orbital !
It's always been a great chilled track, but being stood in the crowd (reasonably near the front), after a fab chilled out day, then this , was fantastic, such a great vibe in the crowd. Tho I'm not a fan of the Heaven On Earth version.
I hope everyone who was there knew how lucky they were. This is like getting Michaelangelo to do another version of the Sistine Chapel. Orbital are just kings umongst the genre. Two of the coolest people to ever give it a go. Sublime.
Timeless, classic tune...I like the fact that some in the crowd are roughly in the same age as the Hartnoll brothers now and that they still stick to the great music they've grown up with in the early 90s.
I wonder if this sounds weird. If I was in that crowd, I would be completely content to hear this song go through its metamorphoses for hours on end. I’d be disappointed with 7 minutes. This one goes way beyond soundscape. And with that many people?! It would be something of a divine experience. No drugs necessary to blast you into a completely new dimension. But you know, take ‘em if you want…
@@stellameiimortal Kombat then 90s one, at the end of the film lu Kang's brother makes an appearance and says some things like his spirit is always watching over him and things proper spine chilling moment
Есть вечные ценности на Земле! Для меня - это один из главных треков Orbital,который проверен временем и актуален всегда!!!Прекрасное исполнение!!!У меня мурашки побежали по телу!!!
Just stop watching at 5.20. Why they insist on playing that hackneyed remix of heaven is a place on earth, during one of the best dance tracks of all time is beyond me. Absolutely criminal.
James Disagree. My hair raises in a beautiful way at the discoverer melody in playing the vocals in reverse. I mean the original lead and backing vocals come from other songs as it is. I love the addition of two NEW vocals that completely complement the original. On paper I’d assume it would be a mess off too many things at once. But they all find a way to connect and unite in harmony. Maybe that’s a metaphor of allowing new ears to enjoy the music along with the fans from the start. My first rave flyer from the 90s had Orbital headlining in NYC. Still have it in a box somewhere.
I agree that it didn’t strike my fancy, but I will say they do a good job of bringing Halcyon back in at the end and it ends up working..but the abruptness of it coming in def rubbed me wrong. Prob hard for them to walk the line of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” but also imagine it prob gets old for them to do it the same time every time. Props that they took a risk.
lol, orbital have been live mixing that track (and guns and roses, and lots of other stuff their fans might not really appreciate) into halcyon particularly - since at least 1993! I saw them do it many times in the 90's, and it pretty much blew my mind every time. Maybe it was a simpler time, maybe it was the huge amounts of party drugs, I dunno, but it was good.
Well, that's exactly how they use to play this track from like 1995? And to be honest? They flow just perfectly. Really hope for the 30 Something mix to include that part
Late reply, I know, but if you cringe at the "Heaven Is A Place On Earth" sample then you do not know Orbital. They've been combining that with Halcyon in their live shows for years and years. In fact I was expecting it in this recording... I could just sense it coming... and then it happens. So my expectation was met.
This would have been a perfect video if the uploader had even a tiny bit of audio knowlege. This is the flattest version of this song ever. Can anyone out there mix this video with even a slightly better audio version? This is a waste.
This is not a song. It is a spiritual experience.
well said hank
I remember seeing them on the cover of Mixmag in early the 2000s. "We don't follow new dance trends."-Orbital
Is it weird that my eyes water everytime I hear this song?
Absofuckinlutely not wierd at all friend !
Not at all, happens all the time
Dude!!! I would have loved to be there!! One of my most favorite tracks ever!!! So much serenity and peace!!
Прекрасная музыка!
Perfect 1995 on 2017
always makes me think of the intro to Hackers
The moment when you realise you live 15 minutes away from Jodrell Bank and had no idea this happened...

I’m also not a fan of the Belinjovisle version. But still would have been the tits to be there.

If I had to choose the theme tracks to my youth, this is on the list for sure.
Seeing Orbital back together and them performing Halcyon says to me in spite of the problems in this world, it's going to be OK.
it fuckin will be we just need to get the Rothschilds and Rockefellers 😁

Fuck 2020 ... here’s the early 90’s!
I heard this in 1996 in a uni club in Lincoln. Gamechanger.
That was such an amazing set and an entrancing night.
