    I've had that happen. I ended up taking the freight to a third party hauling company ( Estes), and they delivered it. I still got payed for my inconvenience situation. In my small print,on my agreements, I charge 50 percent of freight charge and $1.75 per mile to redelivery fee. If I have to sit on freight for two or more days, automatic $850.00 per day.

      That’s a good idea!! I wound up agreeing to $500 for the 170 miles and $700 for the night I had to stay. It actually just by chance all ended up in my favor, but I couldn’t have known that ahead of time and that’s why I always start with such a high number.

      @@Blue_Sky_Hotshots if brokers know what you charge,they usually will negotiate,on your behalf to the customers. And having dedicated brokers,helps,too.

    Doing what it takes to get a job done says a lot about a person.
    I've seen a lot doing construction for over 40 years, your reputation can bring you benefits or ruin you in the long run.

    Next time you're near the Pilot at Biggs junction, if you just go East little ways to Rufus nice restaurant there with lots of parking you like it.

    How do you know what equipment, tarps, etc. to have stored? Do you always have it on your or do you pack at "HQ" before hitting the road?
    Also, your perspective and approach is top-notch. I'm not in hotshotting but I wish I had a boss like you. Also, praise God for your focus on your family and business. Always a tough balance.

      Thank you, I appreciate it a lot!! As far as equipment, I always have the same stuff with me unless I know I’ll be hauling oversized and then I’ll plan accordingly.

    I'm interested in seeing your truck and trailer setup and how you manage to keep your weights below 26,000

    • @Blue_Sky_Hotshots
      @Blue_Sky_Hotshots  3 місяці тому +1

      It’s pretty easy honestly to keep my weight below 26k. It gets much harder when you haul heavier weights on semi and especially multi axle (7-13 axle). All I need to do is not load more than 9,750lbs on my trailer and I’m fine, that keeps my combined weight under the limit.

    Man, you have a great attitude. I just wrapped up my first week. How many load boards do you subscribe to? I'm on Truckstop and like it but having a hard time with return loads (i.e. a lot of dead head).

    • @Blue_Sky_Hotshots
      @Blue_Sky_Hotshots  2 місяці тому +1

      Thank you!! Ya I only use Truckstop for loads and the rest is just people I work with on a regular basis. Unfortunately deadhead is going to be a reality for all of us now that the market is flooded. Good luck, I hope things go well.

    Hey, I just started watching your channel today. Your content is awesome.
    So I'm curious what happened to the load at Lowe's that you scheduled a week prior. Did you have to call them up and cancel or reschedule?

    • @Blue_Sky_Hotshots
      @Blue_Sky_Hotshots  2 місяці тому

      Thank you!! I had to call them and cancel the load unfortunately. I tried to get them to push the load to the next day but they wouldn’t, so that’s why I wound up getting the other load of exhaust stacks out of Colorado that went to Washington.

    I don't know if that rate you got for the mess up is any good, but I wouldn't have been so kind.

    • @Blue_Sky_Hotshots
      @Blue_Sky_Hotshots  3 місяці тому

      The rate is very good for what wound up happening. You might not have been as kind, but this is a broker and shipper I deal with a lot, so it does me no good at all to handle it differently.

    • @danclapper626
      @danclapper626 3 місяці тому +1

      @Blue_Sky_Hotshots guess it depends on how much caffeine I had that day. I'm usually kind, but some things just stick in my craw. At least you didn't have to tarp again. Good job!
