  • Once again, I am absolutely delighted to be welcoming Ben Raven aka 'BenaBadBeat' on PokerStars to the channel! Ben is one of the very best players in the 500nl pool and today we are doing a quickfire review format of 50 of my hands since my move up to 25nl! This is part 1, with part 2 to follow in a few weeks' time. You can follow Ben's journey on Instagram @benabadbeat! 1:52 to skip intro.
    I asked on stream which format my next video with Ben should take, and you guys wanted this, so I hope you like it! It's definitely a format of review that you can easily apply to your own hands to streamline your learning.
    If you do enjoy the video, please consider subscribing and dropping a like as it really helps me out!

      Ayyy thanks mate, appreciate it. Ben is absolutely nutted, we can agree there!

  • @Weazel1991
    @Weazel1991 3 роки тому +4

    The JJ hand (18:37) I did want to agree during the stream that it was a fold. Some chatpro said "the min raise on turn from fish is always nutted", and as much as I HATE to agree with these generalisations, he is pretty bang on. Not surprised to hear Ben give the same analysis. Gl finding bluffs there son

    • @eastyyy22
      @eastyyy22  3 роки тому +1

      It's definitely mostly value, but that guy was telling me it's never a bluff and to find any instances in my database that min raise turn was a bluff. I know for a fact I have several, and I've also folded a bunch, so who really knows! But yeah, this one's not good mate, never said it was pretty.

    I may be wrong, but IMO the hand of 16:20, from an equilibrium point of view, should not be a 75% bet on turn, since the 6 is such a bad card for us. It reduces a lot of our value combos like T6, 63, 66. I think If you plug this into a solver it will be inclined to bet 1/3, so we can merge bet some Tens, full houses, sets and straight draws, and could induce lots of raises. Eitherway, It may be a good exploitative play against the micros player pool.

    7:10 Surprised Bena turned this into a bluff on the river....I see why Nick gave up, given he'd missed everything. What are we hoping folds if we shove, missed flush draws, AQ? Seems clear the villain is calling whatever?? Though maybe not at higher stakes.

    • @eastyyy22
      @eastyyy22  3 роки тому

      Just blocking a few popular call downs and having absolutely no showdown is going to make it a candidate at least! The K turn is good enough for our range to bluff river probably.

    • @BenjaminRaven
      @BenjaminRaven 3 роки тому

      Simply because the runout is sooooo much better for our range. We also block 2 combos of KJss, KQss which count for a lot. Villain will fold many heart combos, J9s, some Tx. Plenty of folds to generate a hugely +ev shove

      I made a note at this point in the video as well for me to take a look at later on 😆 guessing vs the wide ranges like CO and BTN we want to make the most of our fold equity and we want to generate more folds on this K.
      Whereas vs EP the ranges are tighter and we would like to value bet thinly with our more linear range rather than get folds.
      Dunno tho! 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Regarding the hand JJ vs QQ where V 3 bet and Nick called pre: Ben's initial reaction was that we should not be stacking off with QQ 130BB deep, suggesting we should almost never be raising the flop and bloating the pot. However, all actions by Hero on each street was deemed standard (call, call, call). By the river we are in fact all in 130BB - is it a case of "as played" its ok to be stacking off with QQ on that board by the river but we should never be wanting to be getting it in with QQ on the flop? When we call on the flop, what is our game plan on the turn and river where we expect V to be barreling hard on clean run outs? Specially given that our first instinct is NOT to stack off with QQ 130BB deep?
    Great video, love the content. Just curious about that spot.

    • @eastyyy22
      @eastyyy22  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you, glad you liked the video! Ben would be better to answer this and he may chime in, but simply from my perspective when we call call call we keep all of villains bluffs in his range, whereas raising narrows his range obviously and he will fold almost all bluffs. When Ben says to not get in 130 bbs pre and on flop, he means we don't regularly get this in vs hands we are beating. But of course competent villains will have bluffs when we call call. Hope this makes sense.

    • @eastyyy22
      @eastyyy22  3 роки тому

      Currently not really exercising much bankroll management. I was way over rolled for 16nl but I wanted to feel comfortable at it and beat it handily before moving up to 25nl. I'm now again over rolled for 25nl, but feel the same determination to beat it before moving up again. It's more of a personal objective for me at the moment. I would recommend aggressive bankroll management generally speaking, taking 2-3 buy in shots at the next stake if you have 25 buy ins or so.

    24 minutes in and I think one of your issues is going up against regs while you are out of position.
    A9s is okay to call for the flush draw, but otherwise don't rely on weak aces on the flop, if you aren't controlling the bet sizes.
    If you're not leading, more often than not you are losing.
    If you don't know if it's a reg, just move on to the next hand or after you miss the flush draw and they start betting heavy.

      I've noticed a safer method is mostly set mining and trapping until you get to about 200bb, then with an intimidating stack behind you, you may notice more people folding to your flop c-bets. Then it seems to me, it's safer and more effective to start opening up more for speculative hands. Bluffing more etc.

    25:07 Are you guys serious when you say you've never seen the BB call an SB open with AA?

    Isn't the fact the guy limped utg giving us a pretty good read that he's likely very loose player? Even with no other hands, this is a pretty reliable tell surely.
    I think you're meant to fold because it's nl25 but I don't fault you for calling at all. Think a lot of good players do.

      A friend of mine, mod of my discord and stream! Also been on ponp too. He said that QQ should be raised on flop and I didn't agree, hence the call out.

      While it is a quickfire format that leaves less room for discussion, I'd have to say I disagree here. Just watching the first hand back, Ben gives fair reasoning for every action. Even if you do feel that way, it can be good practise to think about why you might want to do those things, or why not. Sorry you didn't like it.
