Fun fact: Dixie Dave’s distortion sound can mostly be chalked up to running a Morley JD10 preamp pedal into a cranked ‘70s Sunn Coliseum Bass. The JD10 was designed for guitarist Jerry Donahue and was sort of Morley’s version of a SansAmp, it’s been out of production for maybe 25-30 years but Dave’s said he bought a stockpile of them after they got discontinued and went on sale. Not sure if he still uses them but he’s a creature of habit and rarely changes gear unless he has to.
Agreed. The guys at Safe Haven Music just did a couple photo shoots though! Check these shots out: www.safehavenmusic.com/products/woodrite-switchblade-silverburst?_pos=1&_sid=6762f56e2&_ss=r
This is one of the requests I made on your site a bit over a year ago. I'm not sure if this is a response to that request specifically or not, but thhank you, Steve. Your lessons are much appreciated. Thank you.
Generally if I see something getting requested a lot, I give it priority. So no doubt the request was part of that. Hope you liked the lesson, and thanks for watching.
Dudeeee, Bongzilla and weedeater are two of my favorite bands in that style of stoner doom, I don’t know Dixie was involved with both bands some till recently, makes a ton of sense. I NEED a Gt120, MV or not, idc anymore!

I'm a Power Metal, baroque and renaissance opera guy myself, but was lured by the hypnotic sounds on this channel. Great content!
Thanks for checking out the channel!

Thanks for the lesson. I will jam this one when I get home from work tonight.
Enjoy!
Have already fanboyed out over the switchblade on insta but man the photos don’t completely do them justice. Really beautiful instrument.

You’re welcome. Will do it!
the sound is brutal
🤘🏻🐉🤘🏻
Oh wow man so heavy!
Dixie’s bass tone is key to their overall heaviness for sure. Great example of how to sound super heavy without down tuning much at all.
@@DoesItDoom agreed man so crucial!
Outstanding tune to feature - love Weedeater SLUDGE!
PS - that Woodrite Jaguar ;) is really sweet. Love the burgundy hue on your P.
Thanks dude! Got to see them again a couple weeks ago and just had to do it.

Get it!
@@DoesItDoomI think I may after I get this Hiwatt lead 50R out of layaway. Thank you for all that you do. ❤
What exact pedals does Dixie use? I know he runs two Sunn concert bass head. One being slaved into 4x18
BTW that headstock is cool!
Glad you dig it. Based on the old Starcaster headstock.
Do you use a bass cab/guitar cab when switching instruments?
Yes. I’m using a Two Notes Torpedo Captor X for CabIR’s. For guitar I used an Orange HP8 4x12, for bass I used a Mesa PH 1000 4x10 + 1x15.
Ha. My PBass looks pretty much identical to yours. Love wine red.
Best $275 I ever spent.
Saruman shows us the way of doom
The Damnation Audio Curmudgeon can nail the Dixie tone
I was just yesterday trying to learn it by ear glad i got almost everything correct just a small mistake in the faster part
Nice! Hope the video was helpful.
Proud drinking buddy of Dave

Thanks, brother. Glad you liked it. Was fun to recorded some bass for this one. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Would’ve been cooler if I got a black top squier affinity p bass
🔥💪💪💪
Weedeater live is church. This song a sermon.
Step 1: acquire all this gear
I think youre missing out on a whole demographic by not making a woodrite bass
Got a couple coming soon.
@@DoesItDoom hell yeah
