The dialouge, and even small things like the way the menus look really show how much this version fit in with the rest of the series. I love the excelsior screenshots like Flint running into an enemy or walking around the desert because they show how it'd actually look to play the game. Not screenshots of cutscenes or extremely early gameplay footage, but how it'd really look to pick up an n64 controller and walk around as Flint. I know there's a good amount of those, but these ones look like the most natural gameplay to me. Also I'm glad the friendly enemies thing got removed because having to beat up innocent animals like capybaras just makes the protagonists seem really evil.
I am genuinely impressed by this small earthbound 64 documentary maybe one day we could play it but just hearing the stuff makes me imagine what the game could be

It's pretty clear the desert was going to be a huge regular part of the game, rather than just being relegated to the salsa section. The porkbean segment in the regular game seems to be what it turns into.
Really great, in-depth analysis! I’d never guessed the game had action/platforming elements in it. As awesome as it is to see what survived into final version of Mother 3, I think what got scrapped is even more interesting. I’m not sure how I’d feel about the battle system only allowing 1-on-1 fights, it is kind of reminiscent of Pokémon but I think it may have been done here due to technical limitations. In that regard I’m more thankful that the GBA Mother 3 stuck to a system more familiar, but keeping the rhythm mechanic
I feel like it'd be pretty funny if Nintendo dug up the demo themselves, expanded it into a full game, and then *that* version got localized worldwide rather than the GBA version.

I saw this video because i want to learn more about earthbound 64 so I pressed on this video and saw you have 781 subs so I watched the video and thought this dude deserves more subs
Before watching this video, I had a theory that instead of being told that Lucas and Claus escaped from the Mecha-Drago by falling down the waterfall in the final GBA game, you were originally going to be shown the two of them escaping through an abandoned mine shaft in EarthBound 64 since the both of them were only seen together in the beginning of the story and it would make sense for it to take place at the point in the story due to the cutscene shown taking place at night, seeing this video proves my theory further, I never even heard or read any of the recounts of the demo since I didn't even knew they still existed
The twins escape through the abandoned mineshaft and are presumably unaware of Hinawa's fate. The minecart falls into the river and the twins are washed up onshore similar to the final game.

It’s so astounding that it seems like the game at least got somewhere… Even if it wasn’t beyond a demo, that’s still enough! I wish that this demo would come out someday but it’s like holding out for a mother three translation, it ain’t gonna happen! 💔
From what we know, at least a few of the chapters were fully playable or close to completely playable. It’s astounding to think that one day, we could play through that all if the final prototype is ever found.
Wouldn't Nintendo be the one to have any cartridges of EB64 left? Not trying to be a debbie downer or unless there's some info I don't know about but is the whole hoping for an leak of the game based off any concrete information or just optimism? From what I've remembered when I was really into EB64 only one cartridge still exist that one of the developers from Brownie Brown got to play. Which means Nintendo might have a strong hold on it, don't get me wrong I hope it does get leaked but I'm not holding my breath for it.
Since we know there were ten demo cartridges at Spaceworld 1999, one of the highest chances of it resurfacing is if one of these cartridges is dumped online. Supposedly Spaceworld demo cartridges were disposed of after the event, with people checking dumpsters near the venue for them. Not sure how credible that is, though, since that's just a rumor I heard. Take it with a grain of salt. Another possibility is that assets from it could be found on an N64DD blue development disk from when the game was still being developed for the 64DD. A decent amount of these have been found with their data dumped, but so far, no MOTHER 3. The other possibility is a development cartridge is dumped from one of its various stages in development. This is probably the least likely, but it's still possible. We know for a fact that at least one exists and it was used for inspiration during the development of MOTHER 3 for the GameBoy Advance. It was last in the possession of 1-UP STUDIOS (Formerly known as Brownie Brown) and they likely still have it now. As was stated by playtester Brendan Sechter, most of the first chapter was playable before it crashed, meaning this is most likely the alpha build. In all likelihood there are more development cartridges other than this one, though. The odds of it resurfacing are definitely slim, sure, but it absolutely isn't impossible. Crazier things have happened, assets from a late 1997 build of Ocarina of Time were found on an F-Zero X development cartridge released by Forest of Illusion, and a Dinosaur Planet build from late 2000 was released by Forest of Illusion both in the span of a month last year. It's entirely possible MOTHER 3 will resurface. One last thing- it's known that a copy is in possession of a private collector in Japan. It's not known what build it is or even the identity of the collector. But that still lends some credence to more cartridges still being out there.
@@doglikedude great reply! I went through years of my life hoping it would eventually surface. I didn't know about the Dinosaur Planet and Ocarina assets being leaked though so that does give me hope at the very least. Now that far more fans are interested in this iteration of MOTHER 3 and information about it has become much more accessible, I think this somewhat increases the likelihood of it resurfacing.
