The message I take from this film, given the state of current affairs, is how sad it is that some descendants of the people who are shown being violently oppressed in this film have now, in current day, become the violent oppressors in a nearby region. Justice for Palestine is a human rights issue, and that goes beyond religious or political beliefs. 🕊☮💖💕⚖🧕🏽

@Shoham.A17 good question, the mass killings of any race or minority, it's not pretty and it quite evil, I don't support genocide of the Isrealis or Palestinian genocide, it'll only stir more conflict and human lives would be lost, the deaths of innocent people are no laughing matter, thanks for asking though!

Its a sad truth but it is in fact true...if your brother/mother/grandmother were to become enslaved tomorrow and I knew about it obviously I would be outraged and do what I could to help, but if it were my brother/mother/grandmother I would do EVERYTHING in my power to help them and not be able to rest until I knew they were safe. Human nature is baffling but undeniable.
Meh, don't completely agree with this take. Yes I do agree that perhaps nature leans towards empathizing with "your own people" more as a primal instinct, but it's obviously not a rule (not saying you're saying it is, just making a point) and there are countless examples in history that prove that more intelligent, sensitive people break down those barriers and are capable of displaying an incredibly high degree of empathy and compassion towards people that are completely different to them, to the point of risking their own life for their sake at times, for next to nothing. So although I agree that there is a nature element there that might advocate for "sticking to your own" and whatnot, I kind of agree with Alexander that it might've been a more interesting choice purely from a storytelling POV to have Moses not be related to the slaves by blood, and instead have him come to the conclusion that what was being done and what had been done by his family was wrong on his own, as it would've perhaps added a layer to his character of complexity, sensitivity and intelligence. Anyway.. that's just my personal opinion. There's obviously people that won't agree and that's fine! But just thought I'd express my counterpoint to an interesting point of debate!

I'm not a religious person at all (I actually have more than a bit of religious trauma growing up in a southern US state), but that said, I recognize this as one of the best animated films there has been. I long for the days when Dreamworks was making gorgeous animated films (I recommend The Road to El Dorado as well if you haven't seen it), before they went down the route of making movies about dragons and pandas and ogres and sequelling those movies endlessly.

If you closely the water that surrounds moses stayed as normal clear water, moses was never touched by the blood.
I'm not religious myself but I watch this movie and wish so deeply that the strong faith of the people in P*lestine could really save them (in some sense it does, believing that the people that pass goes to a better place must be somewhat comforting). But rationally I know that only us humans can stop the atrocities ourselves and while my hope for it to stop is draining its not gone yet. Thanks for bringing up Gaza and for another insightful reaction, have a nice evening.

After Rameses gets scolded by their father, and while Moses is sewing that bag, he is whistling his mother’s lullaby, so he has that song in his memory or subconsciousness.
I was not having a good day and this just made it so much better. This is one of my favorite movies and with every upload I’m reminded why you’re my favorite reactor. It’s sad in a way that no matter when you watch this movie it is always relevant to what is happening in our society.

I watched this when I was going to Bible School as a kid, and no, I'm not religious or a believer of god but I do support this movie. It's a really good movie, full of emotion, and important life lessons.
33:10 I'm from Poland and my country didn't exist for 123 years. Even tho we Poles were fighting for our independence and freedom many nations refused to help us and thought we were in the wrong. My heart goes to people in Gaza and Palestine as a whole. I hope just like us they will get their country back and others will help them

Ahh yes, repeatedly sexualizing God while watching a story rooted in Biblical text is a totally mature and reasonable reaction
It's mostly to demonstrate that anything should be subject to be made fun of (within reason - there's no need to be mean for example). When we take subjects like religion and array them as this higher entity of 'you can never question, you can never disrespect, you can never say a bad word or make fun' of said thing, it arrays these things as beyond reproach, which is a huge issue.
This is why such institutions as Christianity have attracted sexual abusers because the Church 'should never be questioned'. There is more than one reason of course but this sort of thing is a big one. This conditioning, this knee jerk response you had, assures places of supreme power and authority can get away with anything they want at a certain point within these institutions because they are perceived as untouchable, as beyond 'disrespect' of ANY kind.
When I poke fun like I do in regard to the scenes you're referencing, it's partly in an effort to disabuse people of this idea that any institution or religion is above a light tease. Because when we make them that way they become immune to ANY critique, ANY perceived negative, which gives free reign for whoever exists within them. We need to practise not giving them this aura of 'immunity'.
Religion is not ABOVE my jokes and nor should it be. You'd do well to keep that in mind. And besides that...its a bit of fun. Lighten up 😂

Hands down one of the best animated movies ever made, and the best and most awe inspiring adaptation of the Exodus story i've ever seen. Especially as a believer, this movie is an absolute must watch for anyone willing to learn a thing or two about human nature and history.

It was interesting watching you react at the very beginning when Moses is sent down the river and you commented about the other kids. It never even occurred to me that the movie doesn't set up until way later that she sent her baby away because Pharaoh was killing all the slave baby boys, so she was legitimately saving his life, not just trying to save him from slavery. Having grown up with this story, I just filled in the details when I watched it.

7:40 I tend to describe it as the world used to be so small in ways I don't think anyone born in 2000 could ever understand, depending on where you lived it could be constricting even, you really had to work to break out of it. Now the world is so big and open, for better and for worse

If you loved the message and life lesson this movie touch on you should definitely try to watch Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron if you haven't already. It's so much more than a horse movie, just like Prince of Egypt is so much more than a religious movie. Visuals and music are just as stunning (it's Zimmer as well). For me they are the 2 best animated movies hands down !
Thanks for not dancing around the Gaza issue. So many reactors censor themselves to avoid alienating portions of their audience and it’s understandable, but I think reactions are interesting because they show another person’s point of view. For Ramses at the end it's not about being in charge or about proving that he's right but more so about avenging the death of his son and for everything else he's lost. When one loses everything including their child it'll make anyone go ballistic looking for something or someone to channel that rage towards. Ever wondered why his army didn't turn back when faced with the pillar of fire? or even question their leader's decision to ride into that parted sea? All of Egypt lost their firstborns and perhaps other loved ones to the plagues, that's not even including their economy that's now gone down the toilet. So it's a suicide mission at this point, all or nothing for revenge.
Hence why Ramses is labeled as a tragic villain seeing as how (in his mind) his brother stabbed him in the back after he received him with open arms, left his kingdom in ruins, lost his only son, lost his entire workforce, lost his entire army, and ultimately have a mental breakdown thinking that he was the "weak link" after all
14:55 I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE!!! I always wished for when someone just feels bad for what is happening to others even if they are below them in the context of the story. I feel like there would be at least one person who even though they are slaves feel sympathetic for being whipped or downtrodden. An example would be in Avatar the Last Airbender the female prison guard who is taking care of Uncle Iroh feels sympathy for the person because she just DOES. She is kind at heart and so does not want them to suffer no matter who the person is or their background. I am not saying that everyone is like that, but there should be at least SOMEONE who feels that way
Watched further and I will say that what is said after is true since the psychological tests that were done on obeying someone who is in a higher position than you and how you react shows what you mean. The father was the penultimate example for the sons on what to be as a pharaoh since he was the head of the country and their father so they were growing to have a similar mindset that the father had. It wasn't till Moses realized that he WASN'T his father that he started to distance himself from the pharaoh's beliefs and formulate his own based on what he learned.
The film also acknowledges the flaw in that human trait when Aaron directly questions why Moses only cared when he realized they were his kin, to which Moses reponds with, "I did not see because I did not wish to see." It's so succinctly put. @Kascep

It’s funny how you ask if Moses can remember the song, when Ramses and Moses were uptop(where Moses spills the juice) at the beginning of the scene where Moses walks to Ramses hes whistling the lullaby, probably heard it in his mind many many times and never knew where it came from,
I don't think God's existence in this story can be boiled down to simply "a motivator." He certainly acts as that, but he is meant to stand as a call to moral virtue, which most if not all religions have to a greater or lesser degree. Those without religion are probably content just living good by their neighbors and working against injustice when they can. There is absolutely nothing wrong or dishonorable about that life, to be clear, but religion often demands a higher level of responsibility, not just to help others but to live for others and sacrifice your own happiness so others can achieve theirs. That's what Moses is doing. He desperately wants to live peacefully with his old brother, but his moral duty means he must forgo that life for the greater good. It's the true meaning of sacrifice.
This is my favorite biblical story and movie itself.
Arguably the best film DreamWorks Animation has ever made.

I’m kinda confused I’m not trying to start something or anything but this movie takes place 5,000 years ago and is completely different to what’s happening right now, this was a story about delivering God’s people out of slavery. Can we not turn this into a political thing please? Just stay on point with the movie please for future reference
This is WHY story exists. Stories exist and are passed through time to teach us things, and yes also entertain. They're meant for many different things.
I map out in the video how the oppression, the violence, the judgement of one people in regard to another portrayed in the film CAN be applied to the real world in real ways. You can shut your mind off from that if you like, but it doesn't mean it isn't there.
This idea that you seem to have that media isn't political is simply (and I mean this as gently as possible) wrong. Every single piece of media is political to some extent. Some are political on purpose, sometimes it's in the writing and the way the characters are characterised or how their dialogue is written, and it can be subtler.
I'd argue that some of the things you've attributed to the 'political' aren't even political, they're MORAL. I find in this day and age a lot of people mix these things up. I demonstrate how themes and events in this film are comparable to real events in the sense that violence and mass murder, and slavery/incarceration shouldn't be perpetrated in such wanton ways. These are NOT political issues. If someone killed someone close to you would you label that as political too? These things are human rights issues. You MUST understand these differences if you're to speak about them.
My larger point is, media is man-made. Our views, our passions, our lives and our world INSPIRE our media. It's my job to unearth that and if I see it I will point it out and map out how I got there. It's perfectly valid for you to watch something and choose NOT to do that, but please respect that you also can't tell me how I'm allowed to consume something. You're perpetrating a double standard here.
@@TylerAlexander my brother was killed overseas not even a month ago, I’m very well aware of politics and how it works but when it comes to a historical event like that it should stay on point with that and not go into the whole situation like that, this story is one held dearly to the Israelites so for some one to compare this story to another that is also affecting them negatively, this story is supposed to be one of hope and love not about war and it feels like you’ve come across against them so it’s very confusing to me how either of these situations are comparable to the other, completely different from what’s happening right now

The very thing you say here, that it's related to the history of where Israel has come from is exactly WHY it should be brought up because they have clearly forgotten. They're currently perpetrating genocide and will not listen to pleas for peace. They could learn a lot if they remembered or watched this film. If you insist on closing your mind to this then I can't help you. I lay all of this out in detail and with examples in the video.
Yes this film is about love and hope, but it is ALSO about violence, oppression, and slavery. You can't have one without the other and to ignore one is to pick and choose what to focus on, which is exactly why we have people who don't understand the nuances of what is currently happening in the world. You're closing your eyes to so much. This HAS to stop, and it is why I will never be silent on these sorts of issues. If you're confused about it, why are you giving your opinion? Just stop talking about it. You sought clarification, I gave it to you, and you ignored all of it, so what are we even doing? I want to stress that these questions are very rhetorical.

Sometime you have to check out Joseph King of Dreams, that's ones a lot of fun, i probably preferably would rate it higher than this one.
The ironic thing to your theory and/or authenticity of the movie/true story of Moses is that it dose not have a happy ending like the movie portrays. Far from it! At the last second of this film the true ending is that while Moses was retrieving the Ten Commandments, there was a mutiny going on with the Hebrews/Jews. Not to mention the true siblings of Moses were racist and did not approve of Moses wife who was actually black. There is a lot more to the Book of Exodus than just that little story.

Especially since the bible says that God actually hardened the Pharos heart to stop him from letting the slaves go. So using that, it would be interesting using that and the plagues to show it as a horror movie.
Interesting thing about that: in the Book of Exodus (or at least my translation, the NAB), the text doesn't say God hardened Pharaoh's heart until the 5th or 6th plague, and until then Pharaoh was being stubborn on his own accord. So you could interpret that as God simply giving Pharaoh what he asked for already.

I’ve heard that it was the entire cast that voiced God; they had every voice actor whisper his lines and layered them all on top of one another. But then the filmmakers realized that you couldn’t really make out what was being said, so had the guy who played Moses voice God’s dominant voice. You can still hear the whispers of the rest of the cast if you listen hard enough.

I’m not religious, but my favorite moment from the god conversation is after god gets ‘angry’. Immediately the voice lowers, and gets more compassionate, almost like a parent who snapped then felt bad for it and is now trying to comfort their child

I scrolled to the comments part-way through the video out of habit, and reading your comment gave me a lot of hope for this to be a safe community. Unfortunately, hearing you actually speak on the mentioned issue in the video has disappointed me severely, and recontextualized your comment in the worst way possible. If you had heard of any other group performing the actions of Hamas, PIJ, or any other Palestinian extremists, you'd be sick to your stomach and immediately understand the label of "terrorists". I'm praying you simply don't know because nobody in the movement wants people to know about this, because the alternative is that you're excusing torching homes, blowing up buses, kidnapping civilians and r-word-ing women as "resistance". Israel has a lot to criticize, and Palestinians have gone through a lot of hardship to sympathize towards, but it's possible to do both without devolving to cartoonish oversimplifications. But I'm gonna be banned and labeled as brainwashed because I'm actually living through this conflict and not in the delusions of Twitter. It's been fun.
What you're doing here is not appreciating the wider context. By omitting this from your views, I can't help but feel you're the one that has fallen prey to oversimplification without appreciating the immense history in regard to what you're talking about. No one is saying that killing or violence of any kind should be the goal or be lauded. But if someone came to where I lived and demanded I give up my home because of WHATEVER reason, and I said no, and then said invader proceeded to use violence to try and remove me, and as a result of this I fought back and killed someone in this defense. If I did this, and the public, politicians, journalists, and anyone in general labelled ME as a terrorist for this...do I have to say it? You must see how that demonstrates such an incredible lack of comprehension as to what is happening in Gaza at a fundamental level.

I talk a lot in regard to social conditioning in my videos, and I can fully understand how many Israelis aren't even AWARE of what is truly being perpetrated by Netanyahu and his power base, and the scope involved. I can't speak to how entrenched in that you are, I know nothing about you. But considering your words I'd hazard a guess that this misinformation, this twisting of the facts are something you've fallen prey to. Or simply that you've heard so much you've lost sight of what is happening, what should be done to prevent and stop it, and who is ultimately the instigator.
If you're unwilling to listen to me then fine, but I urge you to listen to Palestinians. Notice how I didn't mention Hamas in this comment thus far. You did almost immediately. When Palestinians and their plight, the murder of innocents is brought up did you notice how you instantly went onto a tac of 'justification' of 'hamas'. I'd strongly urge you to question this instinct.
I talk about listening to Palestinians but I'd also strongly urge you to listen to the many Jews that also champion my words and what I speak about in this video.

You clearly disagree with violence, with mass, violent injustice, and so I hope that you listen to THAT instinct, listen to what is happening currently and for the last 9 months if not examine the last 76 years, and wake up to how Israel is committing horrific act upon horrific act, with deaf ears to any mention of a ceasefire. Since you opted to bring them up, I'd remind you that a ceasefire attempt has been agreed to more than once by Hamas, only to have been rejected every time by Israel. The ones standing in the way of peace ARE Israel.

It should be often repeated that as good of a film as this is, it is entirely fictional. There is absolutely no evidence of cultural-based chattel slavery of the Hebrews by Egypt. Egypt, as most ancient societies, had a form of slavery. Any type of slavery is and has always been wrong, but it was not the kind that you would find in say the American south. It was not raced or ethnicity based and it was much closer to indentured servitude or serfdom. Also, the great monuments of Egypt were not built by slaves on the whole. The workers who did build there were actually paid quite well.
A few things:
1. The movie itself isn't fictional. It is based on a myth passed down through generations verbally and written down to preserve it so it may be shared with other cultures and younger generations. The only fiction in this movie is the stuff that was added for dramatic purposes. You can argue the Bible itself is fictional, but that is not an established fact. Quite a number of things in the Bible line up historically with archeological evidence, specifically from around 800 BC and onwards. The historicity of the Bible is only contested on the basis that the evidence for many of its events, as well as cosmology and supernatural phenomena, has not been found, but hardly anything directly contradicts its events or precludes them from happening at all.
2. Being paid does not mean you are not a slave. The only determining factor is whether or not it is against your will. Even Thomas Jefferson paid his slaves from time to time, but their work was no less forced upon them. Although, you are possibly correct in saying that slavery, as it was mentioned in the Mosaic laws at least, is probably more accurately translated as indentured servitude. Some context clues support this assertion, such as the Hebrews being forbidden from capturing or kidnapping slaves, any slave they bought from another person must be let go after they have served for at most 7 years, and the law also prescribed the allowance to sell oneself into slavery out of financial necessity. There were also many restrictions on how to treat a slave, so they were not considered as mere property.
