Brilliant, Grant! Exactly my kit, ever since I put my old Leica M4 on the shelf. However, I would like to add one tip: Zoom with your feet! I once saw some footage of Cartier-Bresson in action and the guy was constantly weaving in and out, left and right while searching for the perfect composition.
I enjoy walking around on the streets of my local college down, Fujifilm X-M1 with 18mm pancake lens, manual focus, set to Infiniity, and shoot from the hip. That is me trying to be stealthy, I don't want people posing. Oh and B&W mode. It is a lot of fun when I get home to load up the SD card to see what I captured.
Some good tips Grant! I recently switched to a wrist strap as well which is so much easier to handle.(on my G7). Minimalist setup works best for street. I do carry a small fanny pack or bag for batteries, snacks (which I will sometimes give to homeless people I photograph), lens wipes, the usual.
Hey Grant, great stuff as usual! I have the GX9 for a long time now! but I have just purchased the G9, and I love it man, I shoot mainly in L Monochrome D, but your shots have fantastic colours, is that Vivid you use mainly Grant? or just extended post prossing? They look just great whatever. Keep up these great videos, Grant! Fantastic!!!
Thanks man - Yes either Vivid or Natural :) with a few of the settings altered … I’m putting together a video on JPEG recipe’s next week and have a Lightroom pack coming soon too :) Thanks again…
Nice tips. Do you also have tips for AF? I am considering using zone-focus, because I find it a bit hard to change the focus points quickly. Which stock photo platform are you using? I know some photographers stopped adding stock photo's because of the extreme low compensation, while losing their copyright.
I actually use Un-Splash These Days - To Give Back To The Creative Community. And I also upload to Canva. No tips for AF sorry :) I’m just a single point shooter.
Yeah it's great for portability. I consider this 20mm and leica 15mm 1.7 and I'm leaning towards buying the second one because of faster autofocus and 15mm well fit my needs.
I find the 20 mm fantastic. One of my favorite mft lenses. Aside from excellent image quality and performance, if you pair it with one of those semi open hoods, it’s a piece of art

Thanks for the great tips.
I'm new to street photography. I've ordered a GX80, it comes with a 12-32mm lens
Have fun!
Thaks a million. You motivated me to use my GX9. All other cameras are being ignored.
Fantastic Stuff :)
Can´t wait for my GX9 to arrive and getting out there! Great tips!

The 20 mm is great, but if you are shooting action on the street, it’s too slow to focus.
Best prefocus and wait for someone to walk into the frame.
Zone focus in manual mode eliminates focus hunting.
waiting for gx ii
